Anyone who has read my Glory Hunter book will know I hate Coventrt City. I devote a whole chapter to it. So the first chance to erase so many horrible memories (incl the offside goal my Gynn in the 5th round all those years ago), and I am travelling back from Oz from the Ashes. Bugger. Anyone who still fancies a book, there are still a few dozen left so message me. Signed by Lou Macari. I thought of you as soon as I heard the draw

Arnie's man-bun was dreadful I loved it when most of the Stoke players donned a skinhead. No nonsense players with no nonsense haircuts. Looked like a prison team 😁

Cnuts been sent off. Great! What the hell was that tackle by Bellerin? I’ll be interested to see if that red gets challenged.

He’s got the strength & the skill but just seems to lack the instinct of when to get rid or shoot. Almost like he is thinking about it too much, scared of making a mistake.

Such a mature decision to hold it up at the end too. Really good. Very clever. Completely killed the game. Thought he was quality again. Pity he can’t shoot with his right foot.

Thank god for that! 😁
Doesn’t alter the fact that yet again, we looked like a team that would concede 2.

Crisis club Everton up to 10th.
This league is ridiculously tight

For all the goals Diouf scores, he still misses sitters... The clue is in the fact that he gets chances. More than any other player.

Leicester bought Iheanacho and Adrien Silva for £47m. Everton - Keane, Sigurdsson, Pickford for £100m Bournemouth - Ake, Ibe, Afobe for £49m Swansea - Baston, Clucas, Bony for £49m Just a sample of recent spending of premier league sides around us at the moment. Hughes isn't unique in squishing the millions. I don't disagree that the spending has got to silly money but I look at the players mentioned above (except Swansea) Iheanacho, Keane, Sigurdsson, Pickford, Ake and Ibe are all proven players in the Premier League with zero baggage attached.

In all three cases, the signings should have been made with a large component of contingent fee.
Imbula - was already known to have problems at Porto and had only really shone in the French league and in a pre-season friendly against Stoke. If a decision was made to sign him for 18m on the basis of one match then someone needs to give their head a shake.
Berahino - known to have goal scoring ability but hadn't shown it for an extended period of time due to personal issues and being managed by a twat. The fact that he sits on the bench week in week out and Crouch is preferred is damning on the men who cut the cheque. If the fee had been contingent, say 6m plus reasonable add ons I don't think we would have so much of an issue. The scary thing is that at one point we were willing to spunk 25m on a striker that no other club was in for. West Brom somehow managed to create a bidding war with only one bidder. For me, the capped one used his knowledge of our transfer team and the spite between him and Hughes to magnificent effect.
Wimmer - 18m on a relatively unproven defender is ridiculous in any market without contingencies. I think he will turn out to be a decent defender, he's just playing in a back three formation that lacks confidence, cohesion with the added complexity of zonal marking. Will he ever be 18m worth? I doubt it. Congratulations Mr Levy, you have taken our transfer team to the cleaners once again and this time we didn't have the Crouch lube.

When Charlie scored his the general media consensus was it was a lucky punt but every other goal from the halfway line is sublime skill

Start with the youth team Couldn't be any worse Didn’t Crewe’s reserves dick them and Bury for that matter? In which case, could be way worse.

A lot of the crowd turned way back. They showed their discontent when they left the ground before the end of season lap of honour. That should have set alarm bells off in the Directors box.
Supporter apathy will finish us. It’s either kick off & force something to happen or back the team to the hilt!

The most worrying thing was that it didn't get the crowd going. In past seasons such an injustice would have led to Mignolet being booed every time he touched the ball and wanker chants the rest of the game. Today the fans didn't seem to care. That treatment is generally handed out to an outfield player not a goalkeeper who benefited from a bent decision. The outfield player can be intimidated by both fans and Stoke players, usually taking it in turns to have a pop at the player. Prime examples have been Costa, SWP & Suarez
