That's just unmitigated bollocks, it's like saying our strikers are performing well, apart from scoring goals. Ffs!!!

Well we're certainly getting a lot of players behind the ball and being as we haven't lost in 3 games whilst we've been being even less adventurous than we were previously, I suppose he'll use that as his logic. Hate it personally I think its boring as fuck.

Well it seems that every goal we concede (apart from Citeh) is a clusterfuck of error-strewn wankness rather than the opposition's skill, so I disagree Lesley.

Even the kindest, most even handed of us all surely cannot avoid coming to the conclusion that our current manager is /has become as delusional as the previous manager, we had to 'let go'

Not sure Hughes can afford us getting another drubbing along the way, we look way too easy to play through which against the likes of Brighton you can get away with, I think we are a way off achieving a top 9 finish again which doesn't suggest to me progress. I think he will have to stick with 3 at the back as he's got at least 4 centre halves to keep happy, 5 if you count Cameron.

There are only two explanations for this statement from Hughes.
1. The defenders are low on confidence and he doesn't think tough love i.e. the truth is the right approach.
Or
2. He's as mad as a fucking badger.

We would've beat Man City 2-0 apart from making only 7 mistakes

I am convinced Hughes has lost the plot the 2 goals we conceded on monday night were a comedy of errors so were does he get that we are defending well from. On a side note Roy Hodgson has come out with I DO NOT FIND STOKE INTIMIDATING be prepared for our usual defeat down there on saturday hopefully not by 4 goals again.

On reflection, in the interests of fairness, if you read the live match thread on here every single goal we concede IS a clusterfuck of error-strewn wankness rather than the opposition's skill. So he's not the only one

I live in the east riding, today I was bowling at my local bowls club, one of the bowlers said, I watched your lot on Monday evening, your defence is not very good, they are worse than ours!! he supports HULL !!!

I have absolutely no confidence in anything Hughes says or does anymore. I reached the point last season where I wanted him gone and everything this season so far has just confirmed my opinion. To make a statement like that about our defending is just bloody delusional and an insult to the supporters.
I can't see us beating Palace and am becoming more concerned the longer the season drags on. We're regressing not progressing.

I totally get the point he is making. Their two goals came from defensive errors. Apart from that our defence contained Brighton who created very little. I don't remember Grant having much to do. Surprised you guys can't understand that.

I can see what he is trying to say But if we say lose 3 nill Saturday as long as they only have three chances the defence has done well that is not much consolation I'm afraid he is seemingly loosing the plot god help him on here if the result goes wrong on Saturday

Given that grant only touched the ball twice on Monday (to pick the ball out of the net) it could be argued he's right here.

“Defending well” or defending as “well” as could be expected. We play with 3 centre backs and two “wing backs”. Neither of the latter are wing backs. As much as we all love Diouf, he is often caught on the wrong side of the defender...the side you would expect an attacker, maybe a centre forward to be. As for Erik he gives heart and soul and more, but he is a defender so his bursting forward and crossing are not his best traits, but they are traits required of a successful wing back. If you add that to Ryan, King Kurt and Wimmer prone to the odd but costly mistake... then we are defending as well as could be expected. They pull on our shirt so I will worship them when they walk over that white line, but can’t help but think they are the wrong collective. As for the midfield and the forwards😀 they are creating and scoring as well as can be expected......

Stoke defending well (apart from mistakes)
Well if there are mistakes then we're obviously not defending well are we, Mark?

Surprised you guys can't understand that. I take it you didn't watch the Leicester game then ? Yes I saw the Leicester game but as the article is clearly about our last two away games (as made obvious by the first two sentences) it isn't relevant to this interview. He just makes the point that for the most part they prevented Watford and Brighton from creating anything and that it was disappointing not to win the Brighton game due to defensive errors. Personally I agree with what he said so maybe I've lost the plot as well!
