The problem was more the ocean between the midfield and Afobe, plus the fact that Afobe, hopefully due to a lack of fitness more than anything else, had all the mobility and sharpness of Meatloaf. Got to admit this made me LOL, its quite depressing actually.

I don't go every weekend.. I used to referee at conference level on Saturdays so couldn't go then much.
But since I stopped doing that then I would say I go to 80% of games every season home and away
Right well, I'm taking that as your story now - if in a few months you're posting about when you used to play for Man Utd on Saturdays I won't be happy. Consistency is key. Up the Potters. Some posters on here know me personally, I can assure you that's a fact if nothing else.

I go home and away most weekends mate.. I don't know why you think its my first game I think you need to read over your 5,000 odd posts mate - you change your story more times than I change my pants. Are you being weird to everyone today?
In fact I already know the answer
I'd take that remark off anybody else but not off you. You're the biggest troll on here! I think you've had too much sugar this weekend celebrating finally seeing the team you've been spouting shit about on the internet in the hope of becoming a gimmick on a message board, which judging by your latest thread - the majority of members have a similar opinion of you as I do. I go home and away most weekends mate.. I don't know why you think its my first game

To add to tactical geniuses and scouting experts - we now have body language experts. What a board! If it was effort related it'll be Badou - all day - shocking excuse for an effort. Are you being weird to everyone today?

It isn't based on just a first game, its the signings, the deadwood, the performance, the lack of performance should I say, the fact that nothing has changed but the manager since last season.
Its all showing bad signs.

Serious question.
Showing all the glimpses of them when they got double relegated.
Not a clue from top to bottom, and judging the signings, the pre season matches and yesterday, its not looking good.
For anyone that slates me for asking this, I'm sure Sunderland fans said exactly the same about them at the start of the year saying there was no chance of relegation again.
Something needs to change and fast.
PS - I also asked a similar question at christmas asking if we were going to do a QPR and got slated.... now look

Left this till today. Didnt expect that yesterday, especially after seeing the team sheet apart from Douglas that was the side that was near the bottom of the form table for all of 2018, so very surprised. 1st half was exceptional, we could have scored 4 or 5, some of the passing was fantastic, so slick, lovely 1 touch passing. The interchanging of positions made life difficult for you, the movement of the front 4, your defence seemed lost. 2nd half wasnt quite so comfortable but bar the penalty (which im not sure was one) until you made some changes you didnt look like scoring. Crouch came on, Flether to and Bojan, you seemed to have found a decent shape, 4-2-3-1 i think. Saiz no longer had the room to do his thing, the long balls forward had a proper target and there was a link between midfield and attack. All in all it was as close to perfect for us as you could get, could and maybe should have scored more.Bielsa did what he needed, tactical masterclass from him. Some thing about you guys that i thought well watching 1) Your defence was to inflexible and slow, Roofe pulled them all over the place and gaps opened up, especially first half. 2) Afobe was so isolated, the midfield 3 never got close enough. 3) Midfield failed to track the runners beyond them, Saiz and others kept finding space between defence and midfield. 4) For reasons i dont understand, one tactic seemed to be long balls to James McClean, who is hardly a giant human being, didnt get that. 5) Subs made a difference, Crouch won all the headers, Fletcher helped nulify the players running beyond midfield, Bojan was the link between forward and midfield that was lacking first half, credit to Rowett for that. 6) Its only 1 game, wouldnt worry about it to much. It was frankly embarrassing mate.
You may say 1 game not too worry, but it was like a training game for you guys, you didn't even get out of 1st gear. Rowett deserves no credit after that shocker

Very similar to the berahino & diouf saga. If that was berahino up front you would of been tearing him a new one. It simply doesn't work having one up top on his own. This failed last year, the year before and the year before that. Nothing has been learned and nothing has changed.
Aguero wouldn't score if he played up top on his own in our team

The thing that gripes me the most is that it wasn't even competitive. It was simply like a training game for leeds Exactly. One team running One team watching. No prizes for guessing which was watching. A continuation of last season, which I didn't think was possible. I would say that's as bad as anything we had under Hughes, and if you know the gift you know he absolutely hates Mark Hughes.

Yep, at 11pm. Left the house at 8am and was working till 4am as well.
That performance and result was identical to coventry. Played off the park, no pressure, no creativity, absolutely nothing. This should of been sorted in pre season, and as i said a few weeks back, pre season friendlies may mean nothing but if you aren't not doing the basics right its never going to end well.
Even after we scored from a penalty we still had no idea what to do - exactly the same at the ricoh in the cup last year.
Rowett has some serious work to do in the next week too get about 4/5 players in, we simply cant continue playing like that or we shall be down in league 1 before we know it. Afobe was non existent.. playing up there on his own with 3 defensive midfielders behind him in the form of badou, allen and etebo was absolutely embarrassing from rowett's point of view. How on earth he couldnt see it wasn't gonna work from the start i don't know.
Shawcross has absolutely had it. All he does is launch with some backspin up to the opponents half and hopes for a flick on, offers nothing and too slow to defend. Bauer was non existent today.
Thought tom ince did ok and McClean by far out best player. Put alot of graft in and chased everything he could.
Crouch and bojan coming on definitely helped & improved us, but why on earth you chose to bring darren fletcher on when you are chasing a game away from home... the mind boggles.
PS - how did wolves play / what formation did they use when playing afobe? Surely they weren't playing one up top?

Why has everyone always hated cameron? Is it because pulis signed him? I think it is, but he's just overly too comfortable and dilly dallies with it.

I think we're going to struggle a little. maybe around 6th or 7th. Not addressed positions we need too. Buying shit Not getting rid of deadwood Awful pre season. Happy with rowett but don't like his more money jump ship attitude. Ince, Etebo, Afobe, they seem good signings? Which positions do you think havent been addressed? Etebo great signing.
Not a huge fan of mcclean but if he puts a shift in ill accept him Afobe great signing but need another striker. What if he gets injured or suspended?
Still having the likes of diouf, adam, berahino, fletcher and more still getting a look in to the first 11 is a disgrace.

Sunday will tell us how serious we are. Yes, Sunday. After which we will be able to tell everything. Not everything, but if we don't come out the blocks firing and were lacking quality in depth which they should of addressed in pre season then what do you expect

Attitude is woeful, no ability, no pace, no skill and offers nothing but red cards and missedcpenalties. Send him back to Scotland. A professional career of about 400 games and 90 goals suggests others know a little more about football than yourself. Perhaps he’s at the end of his career but don’t make yourself look silly. For the money that we paid for him I personally think we have had good value from the deal You reckon that good value we have had was included in the countless mistakes and stupid decision he made last season?

The frustration for me is the not the actual people were getting in, but the positions that need filling and quickly. I mean, we have a fair few decent defenders. We don't need Ashley Williams. We are crying out for a striker. We simply cant rely on afobe week in week out for 46 games and hope and prey he never gets injured or never has an off day. You need someone as a back up, unfortunately berahino and diouf don't cut it. its clear as day we need at least 1 or strikers, and we need to ship about 6 players out. We need a centre half for sure. Just not a knackered one. In exactly the same way as if Afobe gets knacked there’s a bit of a gulf, who plays if our first choice CBs get injured? The ghost of Geoff Cameron? One of the two tall children? Goals are more important at the moment. Id rather fill a centre half with a make shift then try to fill a make shift goal scorer like berahino
