Monday - 90th minute goal kills any slim hope of realistically staying up
Tuesday - split up with the missus
Today - hearing that the Oatcake will be discontinued and that Lambert will be staying, which puts to bed any hopes of rebuilding
Still, as they say, things can only get better....

This was always on the cards people - now it's just a matter of time before the likes of Johnson, Ireland, Adam and Fletcher get their extensions....

Mame would be brilliant if he could actually play football - he's good positionally, he's quick and he works his bollocks off, but he's absolutely woeful with the ball....

Hughes should have gone after the Spurs game, not halfway into January. That would of 1 given the new man a bit more time to assess what he thought was needed and 2 more time to implement a plan. It also might have prevented us from having to scrape the bottom of the barrel and hiring a 3rd rate manager like Lambert

Were gone - to be honest, I can't see us winning a game for the rest of the season, let alone 4 which, even then, would only give us half a chance.
What's needed now is a thorough clean out of all the old-timers and shirkers otherwise I could honestly see us doing a Sunderland.
Unfortunately, I fear Coatesy and co will keep Lambert and hand out extensions like confetti....

Who would you nominate as your manager of the season for each of the league divisions? Premier League - Sean Dyche of Burnley Championship - Colin Wanker of Cardiff League 1 - Paul Hurst of Shrewsbury League 2 - John Coleman of Accrington Klopp in the prem Klopp for his European exploits I suppose, but I still think that pound for pound Sean Dyche has to win it

Both Hughton and Wagner deserve enormous credit if they keep their teams up, but Dyche pips them for me - theres no way that Burnley squad should be 7th in the premier league. Honourable mention for Eddie Howe as well - for Bournemouth to even be in the premier league is a miracle, never mind being all but assured a 4th season up.

I think we need to win all 4 of our winnable games just to have a realistic chance to be honest. I think even a draw here would not be enough here, a defeat would be the final nail in the coffin.

For the love of fucking Christ can we stop this obsession with Jon Walters. PLEASE. The most bog standard of bog standard footballers to ever exist, he was utterly crap bar 6 months 8 years ago. Yeah top scorer yada yada, he played about 3000 games so he should be, half of them were penalties, which he was dogshit at as well. I agree he wasn't the most naturally gifted of players, but he never gave less than 110% in a Stoke shirt and he was a big character for us - I would go as far as to argue the loss of him and Whelan behind the scenes (two honest old pros who would fight tooth and nail for this club) was almost as big as losing Arnie.

Good question.... Do you reckon people would contribute 50p a head for the golden statue? Nah! I’ve heard through the grapevine that some fans have invested more money in watching Stoke than all the owners combined. Perhaps if you drop it to 5p? It will have to be a statue made out of coke cans and space hoppers then

Good thinking - but what would that leave us to buy him when he inevitably hits the million, bar a golden replica of Abdoulaye Fayes cock and balls Oh! They aren’t all for himself. Aren’t there at least 10 other similar posters? Or does he just log on using different persona? Good question.... Do you reckon people would contribute 50p a head for the golden statue?

I think the problem is at least partly down to the fact that young Ollie (and most youngsters coming through the ranks of pretty much ANY club nowadays) are not exposed to senior football until they are pushing 20, when they have most likely both physically and technically finished developing. If these kids were sent out to a league 1/2/ conference side for a season when they were, say, 17-18, they might be able to adapt to mens football rather than wasting their time playing academy football which, from what I have seen, lacks any sort of bite.

Im sure he scored in a league match after that - home against someone later that season or maybe even the season after. Blackburn rings a bell... I remember it was a half volley from a corner that their manager claimed was offside. It had to be spectacular mate - still not as special as his equaliser away at Villa in the first prem season. Glenn Whelan - Stoke Legend! It was a honour to see him represent our club for 9.5 years with distinction.

Away to Thun wasn't it - How Danny Pugh has fallen since those days.... FC Thun indeed. We won the home leg 4-1. It was Glenn Whelan's last Stoke goal if I am not mistaken. Im sure he scored in a league match after that - home against someone later that season or maybe even the season after. Blackburn rings a bell...

Out of that pool I would look at: Paul Cook - has a fantastic level in the lower leagues, would like to see if he can translate that record in the championship. Derek McInnes - Done a cracking job at Aberdeen (albeit in a mickey mouse league) and his last experience in England wasn't great, so could have a point to prove. Dean Smith - Plays some of the most attractive football in the championship and has them competing towards the play-offs, despite Brentford being one of the smallest clubs in there. Also performed minor miracles at Walsall. Mick McCarthy - Solid pair of hands. Wouldn't be a long term solution for me personally, but hes free in the summer and could build some foundations that we are so sorely lacking at the moment. On top of that: Graham Potter - Ive covered him before in previous threads. Neil Harris - Has Millwall punching well above their weight at the moment, young and ambitious. Danny Cowley - Performed miracles at Lincoln, young, hungry, enthusiastic and deserves a go at a higher level. Paul Hurst - Won promotion everywhere hes been bar Shrewsbury, and hes making a good fist of it there despite having no-where near the resources of Blackburn and Wigan. As for Lambert - The way I see it is if we go down, we need a fresh start, and that's includes a new manager with fresh ideas and opinions to bring a lift back into the club. I would be satisfied by any of the above, unless we pull of a miracle - in that case Lambert deserves the job.
