Seems to have dissapeared off the radar, and such high hopes for the lad too. Horrible for the boy, losing his mother too. Wonder if the Championship might offer him another opportunity?

I’m not sure what the lad is all about to be honest. Small, not physical, one footed and not done anything whilst out on loan.

Yeah he's not done it at Wrexham on loan. There's plenty of talk about Ngoy and Campbell etc coming good next season but no mention anymore of this lad. He's well adrift of the first team it seems. Would just be great to see a genuine local lad make it ala Andy Wilkinson.

It is a shame, but he looks destined to be released. I hope he gets fixed up in the lower leagues and comes good.

Pulis was dead set against as was Hughes, although just as it seemed he was coming round to the idea of picking Edwards regularly he was sacked. Lambert also seems reluctant; he did have two teenagers on the bench yesterday but they were nowhere near getting on. Seems a peculiar Stoke manager trend: never use three subs if you can stop at two! Mind you a relegation dogfight is no time for a kid to be thrown in. An older player can survive making a mistake but if say Edwards or Sorensen made mistakes which cost points it could have a very negative impact of their careers. You just have to look back at the pages of history to see young promising lads in that sort of situation never heard of again.

Lambert played youngsters at Wolves and watched the U23 games (at least the home ones). It's one area I would back him in. As for Shenton. Still young and is neat and tidy but needs to play League 2 week in week out.

You just have to look back at the pages of history to see young promising lads in that sort of situation never heard of again. It isn’t about Managers being “dead against” playing youngsters. Unless there is an absolute problem of putting a team on the pitch because of injuries most Managers will be very careful in respect of their introduction (for their sake) Unless they are an absolute talent ( mentally, physically and talented ie Rooney) young players should be in introduced slowly and when the team is playing well. Other pro’s will be able to support their introduction In our case would the likes of Jesé, Berahino, Moting etc provide that type of support? In light of your comments about Pulis (an example) how many young players ignored under his tenure (both times) have actually gone on to forge a career at or above the position of Stoke at the time? It would be great to see youngsters come through at Stoke. I fear as yet those players are not ready yet, especially with the squad of mercenaries we have at our disposal at the moment to support their progression

Sørensen is a midfielder. Danish. never thought he was anything special, very surprising addition to the bench on sunday imo.

I think Sørensen was a case of needing to get another warm body on the bench to fill up the subs allocation.
Lambert has picked a fight with just about everyone else.

I think Ollie will come good later in his career but can't see it being above league 1 level.
he needs to be released and allowed to get on with whatever career he can get in the game.

Filling our acadamies and youth teams with dross like Shenton is another contributory factor to our demise. Simply not good enough, never was and anyone could see who cared to look dispassionately.

Some quality players in the younger groups, especially U17's / U16's. Seen them out play Arsenal and Everton to name a few this season. Midfielders and wingers especially.

I think the problem is at least partly down to the fact that young Ollie (and most youngsters coming through the ranks of pretty much ANY club nowadays) are not exposed to senior football until they are pushing 20, when they have most likely both physically and technically finished developing. If these kids were sent out to a league 1/2/ conference side for a season when they were, say, 17-18, they might be able to adapt to mens football rather than wasting their time playing academy football which, from what I have seen, lacks any sort of bite.

But he didn't, until Edwards (and Tymon, who had PL experience before coming here).

We weren’t mathematically safe this time last season so Hughes wasn’t going to throw in the youngsters It's not a matter of being against kids, the fact is that not one of them is good enough! Good enough to be voted among the top european prospects (Verlinden, Sorensen) for two years running but not good enough for stoke city! That sort of attitude, shared by the last three managers and probably more as well as nott1 might just be one of the reasons why we will never prosper.

I fully agree with regard to Pulis and Hughes but too early to judge Lambert yet the situation was too far gone to try the youngsters. I don't know enough about his track record elsewhere to comment if he is here next season we will see

If you are being specific about Verlinden and Sorensen Tony Pulis left us in the summer of 2013. If not, remind me of young players who left under either of Pulis’s tenure’s and went on to earn a living at or above the Clubs position at the time. Stoke haven’t produced from their youth squads for decades with only odd players i.e. Griffin, Wilkinson to name a couple. Previous to that it was Bracewell, Heath, Chapman etc.

Somehow when these lads show promise they need to get into adult football once they reach 18 a couple of years in the pointless age limit leagues and they are 21 with not much experience and it's all over. Not sure Ollie is good enough but needs to move and work his way back up now .
