MOM tonight for me was excellent really hope we can keep him. Brings so much energy and no mug with the ball at his feet either.

No chance of keeping him.
He'll end up at the club we played tonight. They have already tried to sign him once.

Yeah I certainly wasn't patient enough with him and still think £15M should get a more polished diamond but that's just me being old fashioned. He looks a smashing little player. I think he would be tremendous and just what the doctor ordered in the Championship if we could keep hold of him.

Ultimately they’re contracted to us and if we’re serious about going back up straight away they need to stay. You only have to look at Newcastle and West Ham in recent years to see that keeping good players will get you back up. For me keeping these 2 is vital even more so than Shaq who’s a luxury player, Butland who’s been average and Allen who though he’s been excellent gives the ball away way too much.

He was a beast and got our crowd going with his attitude and guts. We have to keep believing we can win our next game despite another kick in the teeth.
Pieters played well too from what I could see.

I’m warming to him. Wasn’t massively impressed with his first few games, but that probably has more to do with me losing my usual patience given the absolute cluster-fuck that’s playing out. On reflection, he deserves more time to prove himself and has shown massive improvment in his control and distribution over his last few games. It’s not difficult to be a stand-out in our midfield given the shower of shit playing alongside him, but it looks like he’s starting to settle and could be a key player next season if he stays.
I also think we would be massively improved if we had somebody alongside him who has more creativity, vision and ball retention skills that Joe “Likeable because he runs around a lot” Allen. He literally offers nothing other than being an easily-swatted nuisance, and those players are ten a penny in the Championship.
As Bayern just said, if we can keep a hold of Ryan, Indi, Badou and Bauer, we’ve got a solid base to build from in the Championship.

If we can keep Badou and get an upgrade on Allen, things will be looking up. No need for both of them in middle. Im pretty sure mug will be willing to drop some decent coin on Allen, because you know....The Welsh Pirlo and all that.

Everyone thinks Allen, Shaqiri & Butland are those first in line for offers from elsewhere but I reckon we'll get more initial interest for Badou & Bauer. We're more likely to see Allen in midfield than Badou next season as I can only see Swansea interested (Cardiff perhaps too if promoted)

He was smashing and the best player on the park. There was one point in the first half when they were on the attack’s and he made a crunching but fair tackle and then went mental at all the Stoke players
Only been here a couple of months and looks like he gives more of a xxxx than most of them
Would love him to stay but the board will sell him and come out with some crap re can’t stop players wanting to play at a higher level

Poor Lambo hasn't had much luck since being here, but Badou and Bauer were decent signings who have come straight into the team and made a difference in energy and defensive steel, so he got lucky we had added those two. Anyone care to speculate how solid Lambert's team would be if he was stuck with playing Fletcher not Badou and Johnson/Edwards instead of Bauer?

They need to do what Ashley did at Newcastle if they want to come back up , keep the most solid players that you can and add championship winning type players he picked up Ritchie and Gayle to improve them when they went down for me thats Bauer Badou Ryan and Indi as a minimum I worry more about the ones I want gone that we wont shift

You've got to worry about the last bit of your post haven't you? Wimmer, Fletcher, Adam, Afellay and Berahino, who will want them? A foreign loan for Wimmer? A Scottish club for Adam? Rip Afellay's contract up? Keep Fletcher and Berahino. I think that's best case scenario right there. I just can't see what we're going to do with Saido other than play him ourselves.

There is only one thing that suggests it won't work for us.....Newcastle have Benitez and we have....ermm...Paul Lambert.

His passing was a pleasant surprise last night, he played three or four really precise, penetrative forward balls in their half.
Needs to watch his temper though, he'll be getting sent off sooner or later when a more level-headed teammate doesn't get to him quick enough

Surely loan out Berahino if we can and get some contribution to his wages? Will anyone take him? I don't advocate tearing up anyone's contract so surely we try and offload in the form of loans and get some help in paying them! I think we'll keep Wimmer and try and get him up to speed early in the hope that it's all been a bad dream to date. Charlie Adam is shot and Scotland (or back to Blackpool) is his best chance. This is where Scholes has to earn his inflated salary and come up with a plan that sees us take a hit but not one that prevents us moving forward. Out of our three big likely departures I'm more than ready to see Butland depart and Shaq (they wouldn't be staying even if we stayed up) but I'll miss Joe Allen for his commitment to the cause. Lose these three and buy six would be my motto, although it'll be easier said than done. Add two loanees and we could have a First XI that might not look too shabby if we get our recruitment right....8 new players is a massive ask though, not that they'd all be starters.
New GK
Bauer Shawcross Indi New LB
Badou New DM
New AM
New Winger New Striker Choupo
Subs: New winger, Grant, Edwards, Wimmer, New Midfielder, Berahino, N'Goy
I know this is all fluff and nonsense and it flags up how difficult it's going to be. But, we have a base to start with and we need such a clear out that I'd welcome this kind of major surgery as the alternatives are terrifying.
A variant of this could see Erik at left back and Bojan playing in the hole!!!
