I'm struggling to come up with an answer. It's like we've got some very good players but the actual team going out has no balance and is a mish mash of unpredictable players. At the moment we seem to be stuck between 4231 and 433 but I'm not sure that they're the answer. 422 seems to be the current "in" formation but I'm not sure that we have the players to make that work. I think that the biggest problem is that our "big" name players cant all play together but it's almost like because of the money invested in them MH is scared of dropping them. We maybe need to get some 7 out of 10 "week in week out players" to give us more energy and balance as to many of big name players go missing. Another Jo Allen clone would be perfect If we go 4231 something like ..............Jack............ Glen.....Ryan......New.....New ........Allen......New........ ..New....Shaq or Bojan..Arni.. ..............New.............m 433 ..............Jack............ Glen.....Ryan.......New....New ....Allen....Imbula....New.... ...Shaq.......New......Arni... 442 ..............Jack............ Glen.....Ryan.......New....New ..Shaq...Allen....New...Arni.. .........Diouf....New......... Not a clue ππ

The problems are there for all to see, we are somewhere between the Hughes is the messiah and can do no wrong brigade and we are all doomed mob. Since Christmas we have been poor on the hole the doom merchants jumped on it. The messiah mob have defended blaming injuries to Ryan, Jack and Glenn which undoubtedly have had an effect. However if we are sitting in the ivory tower thinking it will come good there's not a lot to suggest it will, we are not creating chances for one, our defending is shambolic and the most basic of things seem to go out of the during games city could of scored 7 or 8 yesterday. The players look frustrated with themselves and as we all know Mark Wilson said no defensive coaching. Obviously not true but compared to the previous management (not a great fan of myself) we look schoolboy. I don't think it's total panic time but if anyone is happy with those first 2 games that's laughable because for long periods in both games we look like a team of strangers You're bang on with your comments regarding the divide in the posters LMH v TP which leads to some totally bizarre comments, an example being those on the WBA transfer saga. From a personal point of view we haven't (as yet) solved the obvious issues that were prominent last season and are worryingly still with us. We don't appear to have a balanced squad (1st eleven) with a definitive shape or pattern of play and We've lost a strong central spine of the team. Yesterday we played an excellent team who will be there or thereabouts at the end of the season but our frailties were there for all to see. On paper we have a tough month in front of us and we need to sort things out quickly or we could be in for long hard season on the pitch with the supporter divide getting even larger

As I questioned earlier "Is it our system that needs adapting" until we have the players who can fulfil the roles the "system" requires? Square pegs/round holes was a well used phrase several years ago on the Oatie. Like systems its perhaps not fashionable anymore!! Bit of a difference between that and playing a centre half on the wing Owde. or Diouf at RB or RW

Square pegs/round holes was a well used phrase several years ago on the Oatie. Like systems its perhaps not fashionable anymore!! Every single player who lined up yesterday was playing in their rightful position on the pitch. Not one square peg in a round hole. Next. Next. Not if they are unable to adapt to a system that does meet their individual natural talents. Like I said don't employ a system that leaves players exposed to criticism whoever they may be or what position they naturally play.

Our system demands full backs who excell overlapping and crossing, apart from Johnson non of them really fit the bill. I could live with defensive frailties if they were whipping quality balls into the box on a regular basis but they are woeful at this. Posters is normally better defensively but was toss yesterday, his crossing is consistently awful. Are they all crap or is it the system ,i wonder if things would be different if we played 2 up front. Not a lover of this 4-2-3-1 with our players. Forget systems. Who are our "strikers"

I think everyone thought he was,he seems to be much more comfortable centrally. Shame is we are overloaded with Allan,Imbula,Bojan,Adam Personally i would play him in the number 10 ahead of Bojan but that leaves us again short of wingers. Not sure about systems/tactics. One thing for sure he is "not" a winger or wide player as we understand. He will reap all the shit going for being labelled a "winger". And played wide. We have two players playing in wide positions whose natural instinct is to come inside. A pity we can't ask Leslie for an explanation that us cloth cap and whippet supporters can understand

We basically lack pace wide,we play with an inverted wingers system which relys on Fullbacks to give width, unfortunately they need pace to do that which our fullbacks lack so everything goes through the middle.Eye of a needle stuff easily cut out and swamped out Not our fullbacks then. It's our system?

Sounds as though TP is getting on well with his new owners!! Classic TP today winning 1-0 away at Palace, bet he enjoyed that after his issues with their Chairman. He doesn't give a shit as he knows he'll always have a job somewhere in the Prem. Undertones of resentment for a manager who went out to "at least to gain a point". Three being even better. Would Leslie be any different? If the answer is yes you don't understand football

Good point ,centre halves improved second half . As for those two fullbacks they nearly cost us the game so often. Both got rinsed by Boros fullbacks regularly. Bardsley is well past his sell buy and Pieters only has one gear SLOW and has needed replacing for 18 months.. Im sure our attacking play and options would improve as well with quicker fullbacks capable of joining in. S Are our fullbacks the problem or is. It the system we try to play? Not sure as I don't get a million pound to play to our strengths with the players we have.

I'm obviously saying that as long as it's anti Hughes some will swallow it however ridiculous and far fetched it seems. It's tiresome how many people look for these pathetic little non existent remarks about 'pro Pulis' or 'anti Hughes' to sink their teeth into. Wilson said a number of times how he rates Hughes, and thinks he's done a good job. He didn't say anything against him, he simply expressed his frustration over how we don't work on the defensive side to our game - understandable as a defender maybe? I found it remarkable how anyone who suggest how we could improve as a team, or highlightthe limitations currently holding us back are deemed anti Hughes and Pulis lovers...some posters on here clearly have some sort of issues surrounding our managers. They are terrified of anyone criticising Hughes, or praising you know who. All managers have strengths and limitations, get over it. The Oatie is full of rationale thinking, open minded posters isn't it?

Benteke presumably has friends in birmingham and knows the area so I wouldn't write it off completely besides if Pulis is getting Β£30m to spend on a striker don't think 40pts football will be acceptable anymore. nah he's right mate....Pulis can't buy any decent players at all at clubs where his style isn't rated by the public e.g. Ryan Shawcross, Peter Crouch, Steven N'Zonzi, Asmir Begovic, Ricardo Fuller...all utter bags of shit I know its difficult but don't rise to the bait of idiots and "haters" at all costs

Are you talking to Pugsley or Tony? 1) i have no clue whatsoever why Pugs seems to think that Pulis is even half as obsessed by Stoke as Pugs is about Pulis.Yes he may be a dinosaur in some respects but he's not a 12 year old that got dumped by some hotty he then proceeds to stalk for the next 10 years And.... 2) even if Pulis DID want to annoy Stoke (for some unknown reason given both him and Coates have both stated publicly how close they still are), i'm pretty sure that he doesn't control the board or have the power to determine how they run their business. He's a manager not the bloody Chairman and if the new ones wants rid of Saido then Pulis can do the square root of fuck all about it. He couldn't even try to tell the new ownersthat he desperately wants to keep him for the good of the club given the lack of playing time Pulis has given him over the last year or so. It's just an absolutely batshit mental conspiracy theory all round. Pulis won't give a flying fuck one way or the other about Stoke! Excellent post!!! If we had heavy snow in August it would somehow get round to a negative post about Pulis

I bet Pulis is as pissed off about him still being there as we are. Not if it harms our chances. Your continued hatred is pathetic.

Diouf up front, Sobhi and Shaq wide, Bojan number 10, Whelan and Imbula behind. Usual back four except Geoff in for GJ. Think it'll be that except Arnie for Sobhi and maybe Allen for Glenn. Allen will play, nailed on. There's some footballing tacticians contributing already with different formations and players to fit the formations (if fit). Leslie take care you could be out of a job before you know it. How about forward play with attempts at goal? Seems fairly conventional to me or dont I understand the modern game ππ

Wonder if TP is in their new plans and if TP wants to work with six point pink owners. That was my immediate thought. New owners tend to have lofty ambitions. TP is not really your lofty ambition kind of manager. He was PC's "lofty type of manager" for promotion and stability in the Premiership

It's interesting to see a number of the usual suspects endeavouring to create a picture where a former successful manger of SCFC is to blame for a breakdown in a transfer where a player wishes to leave and the hierarchy want to raise a transfer fee to the maximum
The manager and coaching staff have one priority, being ready for the new season and gaining as many points as possible. If the roles were reversed and PC, TS and Leslie were playing hard ball it would viewed as exactly the right path to follow.

Saddo must be laughing his socks off, scfc hanging on in their like puppets on a string giving him a bargaining tool if/when someone else comes in. W"hat you offering me? Scfc want my signature you know and they are willing to pay me this, how much you got?" Hanging in like their puppets ? You don't half talk some bollocks at times What do you actually mean by your last point, can expand a little? πππ

I'm looking forward to six months time and being enlightened by the fact that our star signings need a preseason with us and we we'll see the best of them next year. It IS early but it would be nice to get a top target or two in before we kick off in August? Possibly the first time ever I agree with you

All this fawning over these cunts is seriously making me feel sick. You're all supposed to be English for fuck sake. English and embarrassed!!! Give credit where it's due. If we as SCFC played and showed as much commitment to the cause and lost you and others would be the first to congratulate. Get a life
