Thought perhaps the strikers have had enough attention and the goalies should have their turn.. Can include goal line clearances too, headers off the line...
Im probably tinging this with nostalgia but for me its still Peter Fox's incredible double save in the Div 2 Championship clincher against Plymouth back in 1993, think he saved a downward header and then the follow up at close range from the same player if I remember it right?? Just gutted no footage online, it was on the VHS tape for the season review.
This was a stunner from Mark Prudhoe against Leicester, shit pic quality but better than nowt
Anyway what have been your fav saves?

A couple of Jacks from this season have been stunning!
The one that I always remember is one of Asmir's at Anfield in the first couple of seasons in the prem infront of the away end and he tipped it on to the crossbar from point blank range, ot might have been the game we mugged them for a 0-0 draw with an amazing defensive display!

Won't of been the 0-0 mate that was the first season in the prem although Bego's save in that eurpoa league match was amazing.

I think it was the 2013/14 season when Bego made a double/double save against Liverpool ,Jordon Henderson being one of those thwarted.

I'm sure there's plenty to chose from, but it's difficult to remember most of them...
I think Jack's reaction save against Newcastle this season right at the end of the game...
And
Asmir's save from a Rooney free-kick that was heading for the top right hand corner!!!

Easy to forget that Gordon Marshall aside, we've had some really fine keepers down the years, big names although im quite shocked reading on Wikipedia about Southall's behind the scenes issues with the club, never heard this before (if its accurate)
"caretaker-manager Alan Durban pulled Southall aside on his first day in charge to say "I'll let you manage the reserves, so long as you keep your head down, do whatever I tell you, and I won't tell everybody you're a bad influence".Southall was shocked by Durban's words, and could not explain his attitude.Stoke would end the season bottom of the division, and Everton only avoided relegation on the last day of the season. He left the Britannia Stadium in the summer, and later said "one of the worst episodes of my life had drawn to a close"
Hate it when any player leaves with bad memories :-(

Jack Butland made a worldy playing for Birmingham City against us at The Brit and De Gea's save to keep out Wilko was pretty good too.

15th Dec 1971 Banks penalty save from Geoff Hurst. Watched it through goal net at opposite end. It wasn't just the quality of the save, it was the importance. The 'appy 'ammers thought they were at Wembley. To make it even sweeter looking back it was Harry Redknapp who won the penalty for them.

I had a cold cup of tea and a over heated pie at the boxing day match with Man Utd..I took them back and they gave me my money back and a free tea & pie.
That was good service...and in a way a good save.

The last minute save Begovic made from Yarmolenko in the Europa League match against Kiev is the best i have ever seen at a game. Where i was sat It looked a goal all the way as soon as it left Yarmolenko's left boot yet somehow Asmir dived at full stretch and tipped it round the post. Unbelievable save !

I don't think he got in to that state by eating lettuce and drinking herbal tea and he even looked as though he gained weight in his time with us. The best save I have seen (excluding some of those mentioned above) was by Peter Fox from a close range volley by Tommy Caton at Main Road back in the early 1980s in a 1-1 draw. The most spectacular "save" was by Smithy at Villa Park. Villa hit the bar from about 30 yards, the ball ballooned up in the air and dropped back down on to the line where Peter Withe was waiting to head in (bit like Arnie this season against Villa). Smithy racing back towards goal produced a spectacular scissors kick to sweep the ball off Withe's head. The look of incredulity on Withe's face as he tried to work out where the ball had gone was something to behold!

Couple of Begovic's stand out.
His save v Dynamo Kiev in the last minute and the save v Rooney from his free kick in the 2-1 home win. Again in the last minute I think and he tipped it on to the post.

If it's the one I'm thinking of didn't he also rub some dirt on his face as if to say "It hit me there, not on the hand, ref" I also remember Ian Cranson tipping one over the bar at full stretch against Luton. Unfortunately he wasn't playing in goal at the time.

I remember going to Maine road in the seventies Man city were playing all their stars Ireckon - Colin Bell -Franny Lee -peter Barnes Denis Tueart Rodeny Marsh too --maybe etc etc
they absolutely battered us for 90 mins but, Peter Shilton put on an absolute masterclass
some of the saves were just impossible really - drawing gasps from the home crowd
it was like he was unbreatable that day - they tried everything - including the kitchen sink
got a standing ovation form all fans at the end
never seen anything like it since
and the score - an amazing nil -nil draw - Citeh fans could not believe what they had seen

5th October 1968. Stoke played Nottingham Forest at Meadow Lane because of a fire burning out a stand at the City ground.
The result was 3-3, but Banks made a fantastic save launching himself off his knees to push a shot round the opposite top corner.
It was a tremendous match, saw one of the best performances I ever saw by a player that day, namely Jim Baxter. he was carrying a lot of weight but he was brilliant.

I think one of the best saves I can remember, was a night game against Sheffield Wednesday, after we'd sold John Richie to them. The Stoke goalie was Paul Shardlow, then a reserve. He had saved a shot which rebounded to Richie, who's shot was headed to the top right corner. Richie turned away with his arm in the air in celebration, as Shardlow was still on all fours....Somehow, Shardlow sprang off the ground and tipped over the top....absolutely incredible athleticism. Richie was gobsmacked!!! Sadly, Shardlow died of a heart attack later that season.

One of the best goalkeeping display's from a Stoke keeper i've seen was Peter Fox away at Bradford in a mid-week game in the early 90's.We won 2-1,great Mickey Thomas mental for the winner but Foxy pulled of a string of brillant saves. He was superb all night.

John Farmer made an incredible save at the Boothen End against Spurs, when Jimmy Greaves deflected shot was heading for the corner of the net, Farmer was initially going the wrong way but somehow twisted in mid air to tip the ball round the post, Greaves walked up to Farmer applauding and shook his hand. You don't often see such sportsmanship today.
