A friend of mine writes the speeches for Sadiq Khan. As shit jobs go that's a pretty shit one I don't think he is even political tbh. It just pays well for a few speeches a month.

Not so much a gig but a tour that took in Hanley Victoria Hall on November 18th 1973 when Mott the Hoople brought with them a previously little known support band called Queen. I was there, as Max Boyce would say. Call me “unfashionable”, but Queen were superb up until, and including, “Sheer Heart Attack”. Would have loved to have seen Hoople. Big Bowie/Mick Ronson influence obvs. On a similar theme I would have liked to have seen early Roxy music with Brian Eno or to use his real name "Brian Peter George St John le Baptiste de la Salle Eno" . After he left they were shit.

Full list from the Grauniad and reader suggestions is here. The Clash at the Viccy Hall '77 might not have "changed music", but it changed mine. Can't decide if I wished I'd seen this one from the list.............perhaps not near the front. " L7 Reading festival, 30 August 1992
Bands being pelted by objects is common at Reading – less so is bands fighting back, as L7 did in spectacular fashion. Donita Sparks hoicked out her tampon and hurled it at the crowd, proving that long-patronised “women in rock” weren’t going to be underestimated any more." I saw the Clash a little later at the Viccy Hall quickly followed by the Jam. Clash set list 77 Stoke "London's Burning" "Complete Control" 1977 "Jail Guitar Doors" "Clash City Rockers" "Capital Radio" "Hate & War" "(White Man) In Hammersmith Palais" "Protex Blue" "I'm So Bored With the U.S.A." Cheat "Police and Thieves" "Career Opportunities" "Janie Jones" Garageland "What's My Name" "White Riot" "London's Burning" 1977 Great set.

After today yes. Don’t be daft. Everyone drops points in this league all the time and we’re looking good at the moment. It’s not out of reach. There too many above us fella for them all to have a bad run. We haven't put a decent run together all season apart from the very beginning.

Strange choice of Sex Pistols gig, since almost everyone who was anyone in Manchester cites their presence at the Lesser Free Trade Hall Pistols gig as the point at which they decided to start a band. Also nice to see Kraftwerk get a mention since their music has been instrumental on almost every musical genre since about 74. Totally agree about the Pistols and I would go even further back with Kraftwerk as their gigs in the the late 60s v early 70s were ground braking along with a few other "Krautrock" groups.

As a big music lover there are numerous omissions and gigs on there what didn't do anything long term. Decent read of someone else opinions though.

Not sure he'd make a great poker player, someone has been to a party/parties he shouldn't have....... Very interesting short interview. The last seconds where his perma smile face gives up and all of a sudden looks very stern. Smiling assassin comes to mind.

We beat Wolves 1-0 away in the League Cup 18 months ago. And Villa And Watford this season But: we have a shocking record at Palace Palace are comfortable enough to not be likely to rest players We have only beaten a side from a higher division in the FA Cup once in our entire history I didn't think it was once in our entire history but I do believe its way back.

Stranglers on 31 Jan at the viccy hall. Supported by Ruts DC Excellent night. Venue packed. Music fantastic. Long live 'live music' I agree ,all good. We went into the Coachmakers afterwards and all The Ruts were in there, we had right laugh talking about old gigs, future gigs and of course Malcolm. Great lads.

We would have sold out if we were playing away doesn’t matter where. Home games in the cup just don’t have any attraction, not many fans, half the ground closed, ridiculously priced tickets for who we are playing and on top of that freezing cold. Doesn't seem to be affecting any other teams supporters.

Something is bothering me, recently I was having a drink in Stoke and noticed that a new shop had opened up. So I wandered across to have a nosey and noticed that they sold continental meats etc which I like. I went in to enquire about cost and types of meat etc only to be confronted with a shop with no English signs, explanations or prices, everything was in polish. After attempting to ask for advice about the products it was obvious it wasn't working so I left empty handed. I brushed this off and put it down to "stupidity" on behalf of the owner. Well last week I was in Burslem and again went into a new looking larger shop and again was confronted with a completely foreign language shop but even more so that the previous. Apart from alienating 89/90 % of your potential custom, something just doesn't fit right with me. Well if you can’t be arsed to learn Polish that’s your problem 😏 Educate yourself and embrace the diversity of our wonderful city😉 I embrace all but this has niggled me and doesn't fit right.

Why isn't our government defending our own borders from the thousands upon thousands of mohamedans and Africans that are landing in our country illegaly on a daily basis? Ukraine isn't our problem. Some people write utter tripe.

"Brought the country to its knees by not standing up to Union power that was crippling the country" You need to educate yourself regarding the reasons for the above, and your use of the words, knees, standing up and crippling are biased. Callaghan did make mistakes yes but Johnson is in a different league. You either weren’t around or you have forgotten the winter of discontent. The country was on its knees economically. I don’t need educating matey I was there. But you are blaming Labour and the unions for the problems and not the long history of social, economic and political factors building up to it. I know one thing the city wasn't half as bad as it is now after 12 years of tory austerity.

Have we as Stoke fans ever thought up an original song for our club and I don't mean just changing someone else's already song/chant words?

You are correct fella, this gobshite charlatan of a pm is the worse ever in my living memory. Weren’t you around for the Callaghan Labour government? Brought the country to its knees by not standing up to Union power that was crippling the country. Thank goodness for Saint Maggie. Think it was Johnson that lied to the queen. I’m just testing the most like for like government. Teressa May had the same set of problems but didn’t go about her business by lying to get things through. She didn’t say there will be no border in the Irish Sea with her back stop, she didn’t say you can tear up any custom forms and then implement the opposite. You can make a case for Johnson getting things done but to accept he tells the truth as much as other PM’s well… I think people might be suffering from the sunk cost fallacy. You are correct fella, this gobshite charlatan of a pm is the worse ever in my living memory.

That's a shame. It's gone downhill lately but we used to have a decent pub crawl around Burslem not so long ago. Start off at Mother Town Fish and Chips, Post Office Vaults, The Leopard, Clayhanger, Duke William, Bulls Head then Kismet for a curry. Flames on the ground, first and second floor, also coming out of the roof. I'd be amazed if there's anything left worth saving after today. I think at the moment there are ten pubs all with half a mile of each other in Burslem including 2 micro/real ale bars way more than any of the other towns. It also has a couple of Indian restaurants and a very good Polish/Slovak restaurant.

For an extra 2 hours you get quieter islands "less nightlife "no mass tourism. CV is more expensive it is also warmer. Not much else tbh .All quite similar.
