Something is bothering me, recently I was having a drink in Stoke and noticed that a new shop had opened up. So I wandered across to have a nosey and noticed that they sold continental meats etc which I like. I went in to enquire about cost and types of meat etc only to be confronted with a shop with no English signs, explanations or prices, everything was in polish. After attempting to ask for advice about the products it was obvious it wasn't working so I left empty handed. I brushed this off and put it down to "stupidity" on behalf of the owner. Well last week I was in Burslem and again went into a new looking larger shop and again was confronted with a completely foreign language shop but even more so that the previous. Apart from alienating 89/90 % of your potential custom, something just doesn't fit right with me.

The young Spanish lady that I had “hired as a companion” for the duration of my stay explained to me, by way of a particularly animated mime, that this happened quite often in tourist areas. Despite her explanation, I was still flabbergasted to see so many menus in English. Come on Boris - I thought we’d “taken back control”! What’s the law for if not to make this an offence!
