Also apparently if you are at lights and an emergency vehicle is attempting to get past with blues and twos you have two options do not move,in which case you can/will be fined for obstruction and if you go through the lights to let them pass ,you will also be fined for going through red lights. This has been factually checked out. If you stay put you have a defence. You can not commit an offence to let an emergency vehicle pass. If you got a fine for that you would get fined for observing the law. "You should take action to let the emergency vehicle pass, but it's important to remember that you need to keep within the letter of the law in doing so. If you jump a red light to make space, you'll still be breaking the law and are likely to be prosecuted. The same goes for entering a bus lane or yellow box junction." Quote from NHS London Please avoid pulling into bus lanes or cycle lanes. The ambulance crew are trained to negotiate traffic and may look to use the bus lane to pass, and you could get in their way or even get a ticket. Do not go through a red light to try to get out of the way as you may commit an offence. If it is safe to pass the ambulance will do so. If it is not, they will wait until there is a space to pass in a safe manner. If the lane is wide enough and there’s room for the vehicle to pass you, try to move to the left, but without going forward over the white line or into a cycle lane.As an example, you could be hit with a fixed penalty notice for £100 and three penalty points on your licence for jumping a red light – even if it’s at low speed to get out of the way of an emergency vehicle. If it goes to court, the penalty could be even bigger. RAC say you get fined. www.rac.co.uk/drive/advice/driving-advice/fined-for-moving-out-of-the-way-of-an-ambulance/

I feel your pain mate. Back in 2022 I was called into my managers office to answer why id received a parking ticket issued with a photo showing the offending vehicle. It was even in a designated area, which confused me even more. This was at the Royal Stoke Harplands and the offending vehicle was a High Dependancy ambulance complete with blues. They said we had stayed for more than the designated time. After arguing with some deviant they finally saw how stupid they were, but if an ambulance can get nicked on a hospital then we are all screwed. While we are on this. One of my colleagues got a speed ticket doing 55 in a 50 on the M6 by our friends at Birmingham council. He was in an active ambulance ( high dependency ) with blues on. The councils argument was that because it was white and not yellow so wasn't an emergency vehicle. Half of these dummy's don't understand the rules of driving in an emergency situation. They strung it out and bottled it only when the guy driving informed them he wanted to go to court. I’m guessing you’re a paramedic/driver. What is the etiquette when you can hear blues and twos but cannot see them I ask because yesterday after leaving Derriford Hospital I entered Derriford Roundabout which is one of the busiest roundabouts in Plymouth with each junction traffic light controlled. As I waited to exit the roundabout towards Plymouth I heard an ambulance siren close by. So I slowed down even though the traffic lights were green checking my mirrors and right and left to see where the ambulance was coming from. I still couldn’t see it but the sirens were getting louder, perhaps I should have stopped but that may have caused more confusion to other drivers. Suddenly the ambulance was right up my chuff now blasting his horn at me. I continued slowly unable to move out of his way because of traffic in other lanes. He eventually overtook me as we exited the roundabout towards Plymouth. Very unnerving tbh. Also apparently if you are at lights and an emergency vehicle is attempting to get past with blues and twos you have two options do not move,in which case you can/will be fined for obstruction and if you go through the lights to let them pass ,you will also be fined for going through red lights. This has been factually checked out.

£225 fine compared to the more standard £100 , suggests rather than merely being treated as setting off early , you’ve been treated as going through a red light that’s been red for a considerable time .. possibly the view is then taken that in the event of a collision the opposite flow of traffic would also have an extended period of green , and so increasing the risk that at least one vehicle would be driving at speed When I get in I will post the charge.

proportional, what would have happened if a young couple with a new born baby were on their way home from the hospital for the first time, with their loved by everyone aging grandma in the backseat and you ploughed into the side of them, destroying their lives ? Ploughed, I was doing 7 mph from a starting position.I should have known better than to post on here I suppose.

I think he means this I dont think we have any minorites whatsoever on the Oatcake, Caribbean,Asian,African etc Not the rest of your post Edit- not to be flippant , but you can’t get more of a minority than a scouser supporting Stoke ..on here it’s only evident because I advertise the fact .. if I chose to hide that nobody would be the wiser And far from joking , as an ‘outsider’ , in 50 years ago coming down on my own I was threatened or abused several times for being a scouser ..first time on my own without my dad in tow I was rounded on and told don’t come back ..so do have a small degree of understanding into the challenges minority supporters might have ..how we make it easier , more welcoming remains a challenge ..but you really shouldnt need to earn your spurs or the right to wear your colours in this day and age ..it should be the default position for all The question has been asked before and I think the consensus was that we dont have any. I dont really want this thread to go down this route but what I will say in response to your second point is that my partner is also from the Liverpool area and has now lived in Stoke for 4 years come this September. She is 63 now and extremely out going. She has had similar issues to yourself,in that people treat her differently and have been unfriendly and in some instances nasty to her. It seems as though the "friendly" image is only applicable to locals and any outsiders are frowned upon and not easily accepted. Its a mind set problem which indicates that the people are very insular but it should be talked about on another thread not this.

Ive been down this route before it didnt go well. The replies were "well I dont wonder" "why do we need asian supporters " etc etc.It was on the everything else page though It shouldnt be a sensitive topic but it is.With an awful lot of anti immigration feelings around our city I dont suppose they think they would be welcome.Look at other areas with a large asain community and their fan bases are distinctively more diverse than ours especially the southern teams. I dont think we have any minorites whatsoever on the Oatcake, Caribbean,Asian,African etc which is just mental. How on earth would you know that How would I know what?

I think that’s a stretch to say we’d get 35,000+ fans. Areas like Tunstall that should be Vale territory already have a much higher proportion of Stoke fans, I’d hazard a guess that apart from Burslem itself and possibly Stanfields/Smallthorne that’s the case all over the city and surrounding areas…. since Tunstall is now 80% Asian there’s no footie fans there Why do you say that,Asian is perhaps the biggest, largest fan base and most profitable region on the planet for football?

Wealth isn’t just money though. I’m ok owning a detached bungalow in South Hams of Devon. No mortgage and comfortable with decent military & state pension. But this is dwarfed by the wealth of having both daughters and 3 grandchildren living within walking distance. Financial wealth isn’t everything chaps. I agree its a sad society what judges success in wealth and not mind and body development.

So many options my friend.I have eaten curry alll my life and Im 59,Ive tried curry in the Uk from Cornwall to Inverness, Ive travelled to India on a few ocassions and eat curry at least twice a week every week. It all depends on what you like yourself traditionl/westernised/Indian/Pakistani/Bangladeshi/Afghan/Kurdish all of these are avaialable in North Staffs. Afghan = Afghan Palace =Dirt cheap and bob on feshly cooked food=Best value in potteries by a country mile.Best Tandoori Lamb chops too Kurdish = Kings as above little more expensive but similar to above. They dont do trad curry though but everything else =again very fresh Indian = Mariyas and Mirchi are about on a par, both do traditional south Indian styles dishes from Kerela = Both have faults but are certainly recommended for something different than your usual fare.Namaste(pricey) very good clean and modern.Never tried Oh India. Pakistani = Desi Moments Karahi House , Lahori Kebabish, New Royal Balti (the owner used to own Shalimar if anyone remenbers it )Bollywood good curries everything else poor. Buffet =Shaghir Express, very traditional and different. Bangladeshi = Ghandi (Fulford) Sapphire Dining is Bangla I think ,its very nice modern ,good service and the food is v good too.But its expensive for what you get portion wise. Im sure ive missed many recomendations off, but hope it helps. You certainly seem to know your stuff. We're thinking of going out today and was going to give Rice n 3 a go in shelton but may go to Afghan Palace now. Just to give Rice n 3 a mention ,I really like the owners of this place its a small cafe in Shelton what does around six types of curry a day and thats that ,they do special type kebabs and loaded fries too .Its clean and good authentic food.

Thought it was mostly famous for being the counterfeit capital of the world. Went to a Pakistani wedding at some big function/wedding room place slap bang next to Strangeways nearby and the food was excellent I have to say. Buffet style so filled me boots 😋 You've got the main strip of Cheetham Hill which is just takeaways, restaurants, independent supermarkets and shops, I've wandered freely around their day and night with absolutely no issues, you get a real mix of Jewish, Muslim, Sikh and other minorities that live harmoniously. Then once you get past Manchester Fort on the edge of town (Bury Old Road) and near Strangeways (Bury New Road) you have a shed load of fashion wholesalers with the spotters on the door keeping an eye out for the police, not the best area but again I would have no issues wandering around in the day, at night you would definitely have your wits about you like most deprived areas on the edge of a big city I guess. There's 3 or 4 of those huge wedding venues, one does one of the best all you can eat buffet's you'll ever have, completely forgotten the name of it though...... When I lived there in the early eighties there was a large Polish community with a polish club which we used to go to.

Has anyone tried Tandoori Knights just off Kingsway in Stoke town centre? We've been going out for an Indian around Cheshire for a while now but want to get back over to Stoke / Newcastle way. Must be 20 years since Sangams was a regular thing after a Stoke game. Mirchi looks promising (car park a bonus). Most of the places we went around Newcastle look like they're long gone (Zeera, Heart of India, Aneesa on the Midway). Koh-I-Noor looks like it's still open but (next door to the old Full Moon). I'll give Monsoon a go, from memory it was Jalsa last time. Yes mate Ive tried most. Its a take your own beer buffet style restuarant £20 its decent and the food is ok.If you dont like whats on offer they will make any curry up for you as well for no extra charge. There is another buffet restaurant called Shaghir Express in Longton. It is run by the same family as Tandoori Knights.I actually prefer Shaghir. The restaurant is bigger and nicer, the food also has a more authentic flavour to it and again they will make curries up for you at no extra charge. They also do a pink tea to die for.Hope this helps.

I was told by a Pakistani friend that that's the basics of a Bangladeshi curry ((poor man's food according to him)) Yeah it is, and done well there's nothing wrong with that (This & That in Manchester is a good example, cheap and cheerful). But if you want a decent curry full of flavour fir me it has to be South Indian every time, especially if you like a bit of heat.... Ive been there quite a few time mate but I went to Manchester three weeks ago and it ws closed. It looked like it had been for a while ,but it always looks like that tbh. There a really good one at the start of Cheetham Hill rd going towards Cheetham Hill on the right.Good pakistani food imo,Its called Chappati corner. www.google.com/search?q=Chappati+corner&rlz=1C1GCEA_enGB1069GB1069&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#lpg=cid:CgIgAQ%3D%3D,ik:CAoSLEFGMVFpcE54Ym56UDBCTnB4NHJXNDBjdDVGWUZVbFRfYkZ6aV9CVEllMEgw

Just my opinion of course but Sangams always tastes like it's one big vat of the same sauce with your meat/vegetables of choice added, very underwhelming. I don't eat that often in Stoke these days but have been to Mirchi in Shelton a few times with the in-laws and it's excellent....... Sangams taste as it does for the exact reason you give, all of the curries come from one blended stock/gravy.Madras same stock,Korma same stock. They aslo have no meat in their stock for obvious reasons. They are most certainly not alone in this, the vast majority of them do it this way. The best ones dont.

I feel a bit sorry for the Israeli Eurovision singer. She is not allowed to leave her hotel, has to have police protection to get to the venue and is likely to get boo's when she is on stage as she did during the rehearsal. She is only 20 years old. I have sympathy for the Palestinians but the situation in Gaza is not her fault. I suppose shes getting a taste of what its like to be a Palestinian day in day out.
