Which ones are salubrious? Gipton? Harehills? Chapeltown? Seacroft? Swarcliffe? I could go on. And the people are openly hostile to outsiders. The actual city centre is ok I guess, no better worse than others, they are all carbon copies of each other these days. On that basis Stoke is better than New York because of the shitty parts of Queens, the Bronx and Coney Island. I spent three traumatic years living in Leeds and only just survived. Robbed, beaten, mugged, burgled six times, attacked in a supermarket by the partner of some thug I’d had to fire, tyres slashed, house windows smashed….I was practically run out of town. My crime? Running a business in the area. Horrible, horrible place and if I never return it’ll still be too soon. The football club doesn’t exactly have a great reputation either. I was there during that time when Bowyer and Woodgate had some, ahem, legal troubles at the Majestyk nightclub, a place that itself summed up the culture of the city at the time. Ugh.

Having seen the mock above, I’ve changed my mind, it looks better with the centred badges.
Thus I wholeheartedly approve of this kit. Looks great.

Whilst accepting that our city has its issues, so do most cities. Some in this thread are guilty of talking the area down. I can think of many places far worse than Stoke on Trent. Bradford? Leeds? Derby? I could go on. Give me Stoke over those places any day. You been to Leeds recently mate? One of the best City centres in England and plenty of salubrious suburbs in North Leeds Which ones are salubrious? Gipton? Harehills? Chapeltown? Seacroft? Swarcliffe? I could go on. And the people are openly hostile to outsiders. The actual city centre is ok I guess, no better worse than others, they are all carbon copies of each other these days.

I do like that.
Especially not having the stupid number patch on the back.
Would have provided the crest and Macron logo to be placed similar to last season but other than that it looks great.

Is there anything more Stoke than the kiln? Doing the city down at every available opportunity. Oh, and oatcakes. An oatcake should be adopted as the club’s new badge.

The Holocaust season, which we’re probably not allowed to call it now.
My first full season attending games. Ugh.
However bad we get these days, it’ll never come close to the utter hopelessness of that season.
The stats are etched in my head. Three wins. 17 points. A record low tally that stood until the early 2000’s.
I still wake up screaming.

BBC Radio Stoke's geographical broadcasting area covers North Staffordshire and South Cheshire, so as Crewe is in South Cheshire it covers Crewe Alexandra. Yes. And the question I'm asking is why should South Cheshire be included in Radio Stoke's area.? Careful here. I’m from Sandbach originally. So if Crewe was not a legitimate catchment area for Stoke City, (which could be the case if Crewe wasn’t in Radio Stoke’s area), that would make me a GLORY HUNTER for (at the time) living in Sandbach but supporting Stoke City rather than Crewe Alex. Yikes.

I’d love to agree but we said all this last year. Leicester had dropped a division so it’s not a fair comparison. Unfortunately they also showed how we should have done it when we came down. Errr, I'm talking about Leicester the year before they won the Premiership. But to your point, we failed last season so we should never expect to progress ever again? Is that what you're saying? I expect us to be top 10 next season. Of course we can progress, but it’s going to be slow. I think the gap between leaving and rejoining the top flight will be longer than it was last time. In eight years all we’ve achieved is very nearly going down to the third tier. Let’s not forget that.

Arnie was great for us and Stoke was great for Arnie. Hughes rescued his career, turned him into a goal scorer, and with 125 appearances, Stoke City is the "meat" in his footballing life. But let's leave at that. He tried to get more money with Everton, who were not having it, signed an improved contract with Stoke and then wanted out again less than 12 months later. He doesn't know the meanings of loyalty or gratitude and a product of the modern "selfie" age. Taking him back would be a huge risk as he is a very divisive character and if we seriously want promotion, it's not just footballing talent needed, but also hard work, unity, and teamwork that will bring it. Arnie offers none of that. Wholeheartedly agree, with one exception. It’s not hard work we need. It’s ‘aard work.

At the moment all we’re serious about for next season is avoiding relegation more comfortably than we just did. That’s our reality, we’re shit. Small steps. Nonsense! Remember Leicester? Sure fire relegation to Champions in 18 months? There is a belief in the core of this team. Yes, we're not the finished article, and need a few key additions, but....... I'd be very disappointed if we are not top 10 next season (by definition challenging for a playoff spot) and a little disappointed if we don't make the playoffs. C'Mon Stoke, bring back the excitement! I’d love to agree but we said all this last year. Leicester had dropped a division so it’s not a fair comparison. Unfortunately they also showed how we should have done it when we came down.

On the website it said it would be announced in due course. Doesn't give much indication of timescale. I assume there must be a deadline of sorts to allow those not retained to have a chance of getting picked up. Although shopping can start now, technically (I believe I’m right in saying) their contracts run till the end of (is it)June? Plenty of time for the little preciouses to get sorted for their dream move to Turkey. For some, the Alsager and District Women’s Sunday League is more realistic.

A prize nobody.
I deeply regret opening this thread to read about him, and I plan to further regret wasting time composing this reply.
Surely a candidate for one of the biggest arseholes we’ve ever had at the club, and there’s a fair bit of competition for that.

is this why Benji keeps hinting at massive changes even though ask him name them but he can’t He seems to have changed himself in a massive way. More optimistic and funny and lighter, much less gloomy and morose. I like it, well done benji keep it up 👍🏻 Coincides with a few excellent performances from the team. It’s wonderful what that can do for the mind. Being a Stoke fan is not for the fragile.

That's very magnanimous of you Nick. Have you had a change of heart? I thought he had lost the dressing room like many. But he seemed to turn it around, and won them back somehow, which does show there's something about him. But... Both our record for transfers on recent history and his own leave a lot of room for improvement. I mean Cundle was on in the end but took forever to get going, and Ennis? Didn't do much...manhoef took a long time but I don't think he was his either. We seem to be in a bit of a limbo whether he's the manager or he's the head coach, are the signings his or recommendations to him, and are we going to be able to get 50-70% of transfers right instead of what...10%? We still need like 12 players minimum I think on a very small budget. Its going to be tough, but if we are realistic and just aim for top half next season I think he could do ok. If it's another train wreck start we could just see another repeat season of the last. Great end to the season tho. We can’t look back, only forward. He’s won me over and I think we will have a decent season. The mood music coming out of the club now seems right.
