I hope they get back into the Football League. I personally much prefer a club like them to someone like Crawley or similar.

Sounds an interesting plan. I hope they do well out of it.
I also don’t hate Colin like many do round here.

Torquay are a tiny club, no bigger than Crawley Just personal preference I guess, nothing to do with size of club. I think it stems from the time when Steve Evans was Crawley manager and he was found guilty of abusive behaviour towards a female on Bradford City's (I think it was) staff. Probably unfair to dislike a club because of the then manager, but I just don't like them.

Cant make my mind up about him On the face of it he comes across as jovial, pantomime villain type who is very good at what he does Then you hear stories about him (Peter Swan ex vale on Under the Cosh as an example) and a different picture is painted. Telling his player to break opposition players legs simply repulses me

Torquay are a tiny club, no bigger than Crawley Been a FL club a lot longer than Crawley and an away day to the English Riviera is much better than one to the outskirts of Gatwick Airport. Also Torquay is an outpost, only 3 professional clubs in Devon whereas Crawley is in an area inundated with them. BM

Club like Torquay really shouldn’t be languishing in 18th in the National League South. It’s a crying shame they’ve ended up in the position they’ve found themselves in.
He’s had more retirements than you can count on two hands, but I do also think he’ll be a good fit for them. He’s a rescuer and you can’t deny that. And someone i always thought in one way or another would end up at stoke in some capacity.

Did anyone here attend Torquay 1 Stoke City 0? A result that has always intrigued me Yes , very small allocation , gate was about 3,000 ..most stayed down very moody night after the game .. waiting to see if rumours that Birmingham ( they were at Exeter ) were going to arrive would materialise

Did anyone here attend Torquay 1 Stoke City 0? A result that has always intrigued me Yeah I went and stayed for the weekend. Got a bit “tetchy” in the town afterwards. I think this game is mainly remembered as being the one and only appearance in a Stoke shirt for Junior Bent.

Nice place for the twilight of his managerial career. Good luck to him and yes I'd like to see Torquay back.

Think it was Inchy’s return aswell though he may not have started One of a number of arse about tit results that ultimately cost us towards the end of that season. Bury and Chester also spring to mind

As this famous old club has managed to survive by the skin of their teeth without having to form a new club and have to change their name like Hereford had to, can we from now on in just call them United and if anyone on here uses that word it will be taken to mean them?

Did anyone here attend Torquay 1 Stoke City 0? A result that has always intrigued me Yes, it was my Stag Do, and an appalling game, not that I remember much of it. Great town to visit for a match though, so let’s get them back in the League and draw them in the cup.

Did anyone here attend Torquay 1 Stoke City 0? A result that has always intrigued me Yes I went. Steve Foley was on the edge of the Stoke area and about to clear. Goalie Kevin Pressman suddenly shouts “Mine!”, Foley passes back and a Torquay lad intercepts and scores. I remember Torquay assistant manager (I think) Justin Fashanu being on the end of some banter. Junior Bent made his Stoke debut, and the recently passed away Paul Holmes played in defence for Torquay.

Did anyone here attend Torquay 1 Stoke City 0? A result that has always intrigued me Yes, yes, I live in Surrey so virtually a home game for me! I could not resist it, is there a more appealing away game than this, I don't think so! March 28th 1992, Division 3. A lovely early spring today as I recall on the Eiglish Riviera. Torqual (1) 1 Stoke City (0) 0 Dobie 17 Attendance 3,260 Stoke City: Pressman, Foley, Butler, Ware, Overson, Sandford, Cranson, Bent, Stein, Biggins, Kevan, Grimes/Barnes Lou Macari was livid after City lost to Ivan Golac's men. He banned Wayne Biggins from attending the PFA dinner, even though along with Vince Overson, he had been named in the third division team of the season. Instead stating he must concentrate on the crucial mid-week game with Fulham which we went on to draw 1-1.

After that even a lifetime of marriage looks appealing.
