Think I may have a wander over to the West Ham messageboard and bathe myself in their sweet salty tears. Heading over there now

Had a great game for me.. Played around us easily in midfield during the first half.. Clever ball movement.. Looked a threat in the 2nd when he moved further forward.. Thought our centre midfield was sluggish throughout despite Charlie trying to get em going.. A bit of a worry if we can't rule the middle against a 3rd division side.. N Is he that lad the looked like kenwyne? Thought he looked really good!

Good pace and looks very hungry! His final delivery lets him down however.

I've got a bad feeling about this one unless we get a couple of signings in. H Agree. We could be in for a real hiding.

The vitriol and the bollocks spoken by many Stoke fans was embarrassing Believe me there was a hell of a lot of Stoke fans ( loosely ) who were desperate for us to lose today You know who you are To be honest mate I was seriously worried at HT (as I'm sure most Stokies were) I never ever want my team to lose but I have big question marks re MH. I unashamedly was one of the 'be careful what you wish for brigade'. Whatever TP did or didn't do for Stoke, I personally always trusted him. His regime was organised immensley, everbody knew their job to a man and exactly what was expected of them. I understand MH has only been in the job a few weeks and I appreciate that BUT I remember the days of Gudjon and BosChump - free flowing football, no discipline and getting stuffed 3-0/3-1 at home on several occassions. I was brought up on Banks,Smith TC, Greenhoff, Huddy etc and witnessed some of the best football to be seen at the time. It's very different today and whilst I acknowledge that we maybe looking a wee bit better on the eye right now, against Liverpool we could have lost by 6 or 7 (far too much space between back four & midfield) and against arguably the weakest team in the Prem we looked rocky at times (early days I know!) It's all if's and but's however I believe with TP we'd have got a point at Anfield and despatched Palace with relative ease, got a point at W Ham and something v Man City. I hope we win the next couple of games but right now we need signings and MH needs to earn my trust. If he makes me feel just half as proud to be a Stokie as TP did then he'll be doing very well! C'mon STOKE!

I would be shocked if Stoke got more than £10 million for Begovic, if that. Outside of Stoke fans don't think at present he would be rated in the worlds top ten keepers. True, but after his incredible performance against Liverpool I think he really is getting noticed and If he continues in that vain he will definately be up there with the best!

There was a lot of space to be honest and with TP's "cage" they wouldn't have scored. A bit like this you mean? n'zonzi was out of position and he just went past Whelan. There was a cage present just Hazard is world class.

He criticised the first goal by saying there was too much of a gap between the defenders and midfielders which gave liverpool too much time and space. There was a lot of space to be honest and with TP's "cage" they wouldn't have scored.

Yes I am really urging pennant to get back to his bed and produce some great for Similar to his form during the cup run but I just can't see him ever being able to get going and fitting into the system and being able to okay that well again! Yeah I have my doubts too, I thought he was ok today though. There are a lot of questions hanging over a lot of players and management at the moment and only in time will we get the answers. I just hope they're the answers we want. Yes. Time will tell and if we can bring in a few and just organise the team through and through we might have an exciting season ahead!

True it's all about trying to get the right balance. I agree Walters is at his strongest when playing through the middle however, if we are up against a team with flying wingers then I would feel confident with Walters on the right to help out and cover the full back. Especially at away games! I don't, I think he's a bit of a liability defensively and I was saying it well before the Chelsea game where every bugger else latched onto it. Pennant is far better at giving protection to his full back and attacking. But he isn't suited to the 4-3-3 either. Yes I am really urging pennant to get back to his best and produce a run of performances similar to his form during the cup run but I just can't see him ever being able to get going and fitting into the system and being able to okay that well again!

Very good point I think we have to make the choice: quality team but with greedy, and whining players in. Or hard working good attitude players with next to no quality whatsoever! I don't see why we can't have both tbh. You just have to find them and have them in the right areas. And Walters should be used but I don't think it's in this system on a game by game basis. And if he is, he has to play through the middle. True it's all about trying to get the right balance. I completely agree. With TP you knew exactly what you were going to get and by the law of averages we would have got a point today and parked the bus just like our usual annual visit to anfield. What you have to decide is would you take the point with a dull defensive performance. Or would you take risking everything by looking good on the eye and keeping the ball a hell of a lot more? I for one would take the points however we got them as long as it meant staying in the league we have worked so hard to get to and stay in! I am not even saying that the win or draw was important today. I am just saying that if we are to play this football then we need new players to make it work. With what we have we are no better than last season. True there have been no or very little improvements over pre season and if there has ever been a time for Coates to dig into those deep pockets of his now is the time!

But he's also the exact reason we'll be drawn into a relegation battle because if we can't have someone better than Walters in the front three with how Hughes wants to play, then we will most likely be fucked! Very good point I think we have to make the choice: quality team but with greedy, and whining players in. Or hard working good attitude players with next to no quality whatsoever!

Jon Walters is the most hard working and honest players we have at the club! I agree he is not the most naturally talented players we have to say the least, however I would much rather have 11 players with his attitude pulling on the red and white shirt rather the moaning spoilt brats such as n'zonzi. Also, if we are pulled into the relegation scrap, which there is ever chance we might do, Jon is the exact kind if player with character and leadership qualities that will fight until the death.

Not sure why people are annoyed pennant didn't start. He didn't really do anything when he came on and you would never start 2 wingers away at anfield

Absolutely sickening to hear what a few of the so called "fans" have to say about our new signing! Ithought he did well and got better as the game went on. have no doubt he will continue to improve and eventually be a solid premier league left back! Give the guy a chance as the prem is a big step up!
