Problem has always been that the club has not been ruthless enough. Even if it's obvious that there's a lack of progress or even a downward trend the owner of this club accepts this. If the fans let their feeling known load and clear he won’t last long after , no board would keep a manger who’s clearly lost the crowd True but then the absolute horror show that this board is with regards to appointing his successor comes to the fore…

I can’t believe that any football manager looks at the best way of getting results and ultimately promotion by playing 5-3-2 slow paced 3 shots on target all game football?? Yet O’Neill either truly believes that is the way or he’s not arsed about getting promoted. We finished 14th last season and surely to god it’s better to go out in a blaze of glory and attack the absolute fodder of this division than try and scrape a draw or a win?? I’m truly baffled and fully expecting a 0-1 home defeat today

I'm indifferent towards today. Really hope we win, but don't think we will, and absolutely dreading yet another MON shitshow master class. Yep exactly the same here

Genuinely what do all the optimistic and positive Stoke fans think?? The negative bastards or ‘realists’ including me predicted this absolute bollocks. The board are completely incapable of running a successful football club. They chance their arm every decade or so with a decent manager who picks the club up and runs it properly. As soon as that manager leaves though the whole infrastructure goes with him. Supported this club since 88 and Coates has been on the board or chairman for all of that time. Macari, Pulis and Hughes before he lost the plot are the only decent managers in 34 years

Could do with a De Goey, Crossley, Nash type signing. Experienced and dominant keeper that wouldn’t cost a fortune

Just pre ordered the home and white away. Never bought home and away usually one or the other. I’ve not bought a Stoke shirt for the last 6 years either because I’ve felt I’m getting too old for them now but really loving the new shirts so thought I’d treat myself at 41 haha

I'd say give or take that's season over. Regroup in July. Agree but question is , will the owners accept no real chance by Xmas as acceptable The owners are oblivious and don’t have enough about them to do anything positive or constructive about anything. As long as Stoke have a manager that keeps us ticking along as a mid table championship team then there isn’t any urgency or desire to change it

Does anyone still think we’ll make top 6 this season?? It’s just more of the same crap since we’ve been back in the championship. No better than a mid table side that will regress and end up in league 1

If we are serious about automatic promotion we needed to take 6 points from the Sheff Utd and Bournemouth games… we ended up with zero and Bournemouth now 10 points clear of us. We look a lot better than previous championship seasons but I reckon we will be anywhere from 6th to 12th by the time the season ends. Massive improvements but not good enough to mount a serious challenge for promotion

‘Nothing wrong with the process’
The club has been neglected in terms of management structure across the board since Hughes got bored and gave up. Pointless chucking money at a problem if you have no kind of real organisation or process. The owners of the club are taking the piss out of everyone including themselves!!

Lots of things. In this instance the freedom to say you've elected a cunt and I'll spend every breath exposing your error and the cunt in question for being the utter cunt he is. There is nothing wrong with it. Pack it in you are making a fool of yourself and disgracing the true Labour Party supporters, a lot of whom voted Tory yesterday to get BREXIT done and because of the extreme left wing leader who is proposing the economics of a mad house. The true Labour Party supporters will vote for the party again when sensible rational leadership is re-established and the likes of Corbyn are marginalised the way Foot, Hatton, Scargill and others were in the past. If Corbyn was true to his beliefs he would have championed BREXIT the way Benn did, but he was only interested in a power grab and was prepared to promise anything to anybody to achieve it. But he was sussed by the British public for the fraud that he is. This my friend is an oxymoron

I'm over it now. I voted Labour. We lost. I was gutted last night. I've done some soul searching today. I've spoken to a few level headed people as to why they voted Tory, and why the result was as significant as it was. It is starting to make a bit more sense. I just hope Boris delivers on his promises now (because the country bloody needs it). Hopefully Labour learn, regroup and come back stronger, with a better leader and much more in the centre. It will take years to rebuild the faith, but hopefully by the the next GE, we have serious opposition. Let's hope the next few years go well. Whether you voted red, blue or any other colour. Theres no gloating or moral ground to be had from here on in. We all live in the same country. We're all in this together. Here’s the thing though, if Labour move more to the centre (which I think they will) how is that an effective opposition/alternative if the Tories and Lib Dems are already in the centre?

The Stoke City board will get what they deserve. Massive shame for the fans
But don’t forget we should all be very grateful and take this on the chin. Be careful what you wish for, they’re local, they love the club, we’d be mad to want anyone else, the club would go bust without them

Problem is that we sacked Hughes and brought in Lambert and made it worse. Then we sacked Lambert and made it worse with Rowett. Then we sacked Rowett and made it worse with Jones. The person or people responsible for appointing managers haven’t got a clue. Sack Jones who is drowning but I bet it gets worse if we do Get what your saying but don't see how another manager could do any worse. It's critical now That said Scholes needs to go pronto It’s just all so obvious how it’s unfolded since we appointed Lambert. We need a decent management structure before we sack or bring in any new manager otherwise it’s chucking good money after bad. There is no leadership and Scholes needs to be sacked first

So let’s agree that you’re correct and there is no viable alternative - nobody able to run the club like they can or afford it - what do we do? Give them a free pass and tumble down the leagues because they’re ‘local billionaire fans’ and they’re decent fellas? Or drive them out, smash the place to pieces, they pull the plug and we go bust. That's the harsh reality. They're not immune to criticism and I'm sure they're hurting like anyone else but singing we want Coatsey out isn't going to help us out of this mess. They need a director of football and a decent one. Problem is do they know this? acknowledge this? realise this? Because chopping and changing managers and bringing in more and more players ain’t working and Stoke are going down the plug hole no matter how loyal or passionate Stoke supporters are

That’s the point I’m making though - in over 30 years of ownership of the club they’ve picked 2 decent managers and they’ve got Scholes overseeing the shit show that keeps getting worse - I’ve lost faith in them and their ability to run a successful football club What's the alternative then? I hear Smurf is after a club? So let’s agree that you’re correct and there is no viable alternative - nobody able to run the club like they can or afford it - what do we do? Well carry on as we are and we’ll have the bestest owners in league 1. Are you pleased with how they’ve overseen the last few years or don’t you believe it’s anything to do with them? They put £60m on the table last summer, unfortunately they picked the wrong bloke. They've tried a total change of style this season, and looks like they've picked the wrong bloke. Criticise them for their recruitment of managers I can understand, but to think the grass is greener and someone would be daft enough to buy Stoke City and fund it like they have ... sorry but I'm struggling with that. They'll rebound to a stodgy, safe pair of hands if they make the change soon. Jokanovic is earning fortunes in the Gulf, and he wasn't interested when we weer a much more attractive proposition. Now, we're a complete mess. Stendel? Too shiny and new Cowley would make some sense, but they'll go for something the opposite of Jones. m.skybet.com/football/manager-specials/event/24473230Huddersfield odds Would Moyes come? No Would Hughton come? Maybe. Lee Bowyer? Garry Monk? I could actually see that one. Enter Pardew

Unpopular opinion but we need new owners - Coates Family have had their time. We need new ideas and new direction Utterly ridiculous. You do realise there isn't a queue of people waiting to buy football clubs that lose money hand over fist and are saddled with debt? Why not drive them out again, smash the Waddington to pieces... And then see what a football club in a serious state looks like. Well carry on as we are and we’ll have the bestest owners in league 1. Are you pleased with how they’ve overseen the last few years or don’t you believe it’s anything to do with them?

Unpopular opinion but we need new owners - Coates Family have had their time. We need new ideas and new direction I like them but they need freshening up. Ideally I’d like Scholes sacked and a new young investor to work with them and to give them some energy. Thing is I don’t like Scholes or this obviously flawed ‘process’ I couldn’t stand Jez Moxey back in the day either but it can’t be a coincidence that the Coates Family employed both to perform key roles at the club. Macari and Pulis are exceptions to the rule when you look at their track record of appointing managers over the last 30 plus years
