Goodness knows what the team will be but I can see a 1-0 defeat. Dreadful game that we think we’ve done enough to hang on for a draw but a late goal puts paid to that. It’s only being so cheerful that keeps me going 🙂

If Duhaney even makes the bench regularly, I think we're in big trouble. Sparrow seems to be ahead of him in the pecking order now.
But having those 2 as the back-ups to the still unproven Clarke seems unworkable.
When you think about it (and having the first game of the season less than a week away focuses the mind a bit), getting another RWB option in is a real priority.
Byrne isn't figuring for Derby in pre-season. Don't know whether there's still some final decision to be made on whether he can get a free transfer

He'll probs go with: Bursik Taylor Jags/Flint Wilmot Clarke Baker Smallbone/Kilkenny Laurent Tymon Brown Campbell Subs: Gayle, DWP, Kilkenny/Smallbone Ideally it should be a slight tweak: Bursik Clarke Jags Wilmot Tymon Baker Laurent Brown Smallbone Campbell Gayle
Subs: DWP, Kilkenny, ????
No idea who's winning the ball over the top though - Brown?

Anyone who went yo Norwich that fateful day actually Bracewells debut will recognise this has the potential, to challenge for our worst first day for some considerable time

Millwall 6/5.
Easy money.
In all fairness I think it will be close. First day and all that.
But 2-1 Millwall.

Millwall to win by 2 or 3 goals we can't defend & we can't score goals our midfield seems all over the place. Might be better if he drops this silly wingback plan that we do not have the right players for straight back four & we could see a difference.

Like another poster said, there's almost a sense of revelling in it. Life's too short for it, Benji. Let's see what happens.

Bursik Wilmott Jagileka Mawson Clarke Baker Smallbone Laurent Tymon Gayle Brown Subs: Bonham, Flint, Taylor, Thompson, Kilkenny, Campbell, Wright-Phillips. I think it will be this if we sign Mawson. Predicting a very tight game, probable draw or possibly one goal either way. Avoiding defeat in the opening away game would be a good point.

Not sure why you’d pick Brown over Campbell based on pre season? Brown has looked like season 1 Brown. Been awful.

This particular day is sounding less full of fate the more I hear about it. I remember him scoring twice v Wolves as a very young kid...think was FA cup. Either way is irrelevant to Millwall and to suggest a 5 goal beating is sheer stupidity.

The team I think he’ll pick:
Bursik Clarke Flint Wilmot Tymon Thompson Laurent Baker Brown Campbell
Score 3-0 to Millwall.
The team id pick:
Bonham Clarke Wilmot Jagielka Tymon
Laurent Baker Smallbone
Brown Gayle Campbell
I still think we’d lose.
I can see Gayle, Campbell and Brown rotating two wide roles (with DWP as a sub) if we can just bring in a proper target man.

Early goal to them following one of Bursik’s patented charity “clearances,” long spell of apparent Stoke pressure characterized by misdirected crosses into the box. One minute before the half, Brown miskicks in front of goal but, Gayle expecting that, is on hand to slot in. 75 minutes in, somehow our valiant defense is caught napping with a ball over the top - 1:2. Some more puffing and blowing from the lads, ending with a quick incisive counter attack - 1:3. Summing up, Mon says there were a lot of positives and it’s early days yet, but he recognizes there’s work still to do.

Ha ha, but they haven’t allowed for the SCFC charity factor. Anything better than 0-0 would be a nice surprise.
