Maybe I'm just a cranky old dinosaur but Imbulas attitude is really piss poor, and I don't mean just on the pitch.
His interaction with fans seems to be non existent.
Walks on a off the pitch never seems to acknowledge the fans at all.
My young lad has been standing at the gate a couple of times when the players arrive and tried to get his autograph a couple of times but he just saunters past head down. Some of the other players interact great with the younger fans.
His attitude on the pitch isn't much better but he just has the look of a lad that absolutely doesn't want to be here.
Everyone can have off days and be pissed off but it seems to be a permanent attribute with him.
Given Afellay a contract extension and cut our losses with him.
Rant over!

Get rid of our record signing because he doesn't sign autographs? Ok then

He might have his head down because of all the pressure on him as our record signing. It's probably a big leap for him mentally to become "that guy". Hope we are helping him along with things on his mental aspect, psychology. Arismendi failed here because of language and depression issues.. Don't forget he just got married as well Let's give him a chance! I think if he learned English he would feel more comfortable as well

Get rid of our record signing because he doesn't sign autographs? Ok then Don't be silly, I'm using it as an example of a more systematic issue... He looks like he can't be arsed in a Stoke shirt. He doesn't seem happy here and yes he is probably under a lot of pressure but you'd think that he'd at least try and get the fans on side?

We saw a good player in there a year ago when he first joined. He'll come good eventually

Old question: is he arrogant or shy?
And: Is he confident in the language he barely speaks?

In another country and a new language. Also he's not in one of the bigger cities
Perhaps he's frustrated about being out record signing yet not playing regularly.

They have so much time on their hands, learning a new language should be no big deal. If I was offered £60k a week to work in outer Mongolia, I'd be word perfect in 6 months.

Even if you speak 10 languages fluently it's a bit narrow minded to say this. We all have different brains and different levels/types of intelligence. Maybe someone could pick up a language in 6 months with minimal effort whereas someone else could take years to become fluent despite putting in an astronomical level of effort. And maybe the person who picks it up quickly isn't viewed as conventionally "smart" whereas the person who struggles is seen that way. We're all wired completely differently and it wasn't long after leaving school that I came to realise that our classification of intelligence is very short-sighted and only really covers one of about a gazillion different types of intelligence. Seeing as we know very little about Imbula it's terribly presumptuous to make the judgement that it is solely down to a lack of effort. Or to even assume that he is making poor progress when we don't know that for certain!

Whys not knowing a language affecting playing football I say. Ardiles & Villa weren't affected by it at Tottingham hotspur! And many others. Poor excuse not to sign a simple autograph too. He signed when joining club ok didn't he?!

I don't think the guy needs to understand English to sign his own name. Didn't crouch or someone else say that imbula is always a misery guts around the training ground? Question: is that his standard personality or just since arriving at Stoke?
Maybe it's just the way he is.

Having met him, he has very (very) limited English, and is extremely shy - took him a while to warm up during a City 7s event
Was a good sport in the end for hundreds of photos, but the first half hour was a bit awkward!
Tbh not sure the club should put him into those situations, he looked bewildered by it all!

The overreacting drama queen like nature of the Oatcake is in full swing once again. Ryan, a man who should no longer be club captain and dropped for an injured Muniesa is now a Stoke City legend and gaining praise like "I fucking love him" just because he scored a goal. As for Imbula, this was a player who was back to his best at Watford a few weeks ago but now "quite clearly doesn't give a fuck"..
What an absolute load of shite, yet again. I'm sure if Imbula scores a wordly against Wolves on Satuday he'll be up there as one of the best buys in the clubs history ffs.
Edit - I don't want Ryan dropped btw, just to make that clear.

General you "generally" make a lot of sense but I don't agree with you on Imbula. He played well against Watford but back to his best, I don't think so. He's also been pretty poor since. I know it's subjective but do you think he looks/plays "like he gives a fuck?" He's a highly paid professional footballer who should be able to handle a (clearly warranted) modicum of criticism. His demeanour is also not helping his cause. If he scored I won't be on he lauding him, I'll wait till I see week in week out consistent improvement.
