Don't know if its already been posted but just thought I'd inform you all.. Season tickets for next season will be swipe cards, so no more ripping the relevant number out of your little book folks! I know the firm who have installed the network and done the cabling for the system ; was finished early this week! About time we joined the 21st century! www.stokecityfc.com/news/article/new-season-new-card-964281.aspx#zUEWddlmYEksmGC2.99

The staff at the turnstiles mentioned this at the Spurs game. A few will be retained to help out with any problems, but some will be surplus to requirements!

I wonder if they are extra clever and have little tracking devices in them

Excellent news. Easier to deal with, no more queuing if you get the slow turnstile steward and certainly more modern.
It will help to counter my disappointment at not yet seeing the corner filled in but will have confidence that that is to be a mere one season delay. As you say, PTB, we're slowly improving the ground, which makes such a difference.
Remember the timne when we queued out in the rain for match day tickets, had no underpass, no bridge on to the A50, no training ground of our own and a closed upstairs in Delilah's? Oh and no chips on sale! Don't ever take the present for granted.

Stadium slowly being developed, the underpass, modern training facilities (instead of the second hand porter cabins!) ... fair play to the club for all they've done with improving the infrastructure and facilities

I wouldn't guarantee on the queuing, the stewarding is going to be increased if this s the case the last few years have got steadily worse in getting in the boothen and every week I'm pulled out and searched, this will just give these arse holes more reason to be miserable clowns searching people and confiscating those ever so dangerous weapons....the plastic bottle top I wouldn't mind but I'm the back row of the boothen I'd have to be a professional bottle top thrower and the weather conditions would have to be perfect to get any where near the pitch never mind a player

I presume that this means the club will now be able to utilise the facilities of a seat exchange/sale company such as 'Stub Hub'. Could be great for exiles.

I pity the poor sods who have lost a bit of desperately needed income into their coffers
Spare a thought for those people whilst congratulating the club

I look forward to the carnage on the first home game of the season. Comments should include:
"How the hell do you work these things" "Where does it go?" "Nothing wrong with the season ticket book" "It aint fucking working" (as a hapless supporter inserts a credit card) "Pulis Out"

Sorry Thorney but I disagree a little with the statement 'fair play to the club for all they've done with improving the infrastructure and facilities[/quote]
There's no doubt that certain things have improved (excellent academy for one) some of which you have mentioned, but there's still a lot more 'smaller' things they could do with the ground.
1. Give the ground a bit of a painting. It looks bloody grotty from the outside. 2. More Stoke related flags, pictures, scarfs, banners etc inside and outside of the ground. If you walk past the back of the stands from the outside, there's lots of parts of the ground that could be improved on this front. If you take Liverpool for example, we could learn a lot from what they have done in this area and gives the ground more of a intimidating yet passionate feel 3. Sound system from The Boothern End could still be better and I'm 33. At the last game, hearing announcements of ex players etc wasn't great, and people around were saying the same. 4. Bigger – scoreboard. It's better than what we had but it still could be bigger and again from the Boothern End is visible but could be improved. Or stick another one in the opposite corner that's not filled in.
These may only be little things but would add to the match-day experience would it not?

I played at Pride Park yesterday and in every respect (apart from the sheep all over the place and the pitch which was shit) it is far superior to the Brit despite being basically the same design. It is better sited, easier access, looks so much better from the outside, and actually looks finished on the inside. The away dressing room is bigger and better than the Brit home dressing room. Oh and by the way I'm certain they've had plastic swipe cards for ST holders since the ground was built. Just saying like.

Agree with all that mate apart from the last bit about the swipe cards.Had a couple of workmates that were turnstile operators at Derby when the cards were introduced and it was utter chaos to start with with loads of fans stuck outside not being able to get in due to card problems.Once a card was swiped and a fan didn't go through in time there was no access for that fan and all hell broke loose on several occasions in the early days. Some may say watching us or Derby this season it may have done us a favour.Alot of stewards/turnstile operators left/resigned over this so lets hope the same chaos doesn't come about at the Brit early season. By the way LG how come you were playing at Pride Park?

Also a new dug out wouldnt go a miss with some fancy seats, ares looks so out of date and lower league. I also think its time we built a tv gantry if we aren't going to fill the corner in when we have that shitty tv box up it looks like watch a fa cup 3rd round tie at harrogate town!

First game of the season and we won THREE NIL. Had a 'play on the pitch' day. We've done Stoke and Burton in the last couple of years. It's become a bit of an annual event for us old farts. I would say Derby was best value although like I said the pitch was by far the worst. Looking for another for next year. The pitch at the Brit was fantastic by the way.

It was. They did us proud. We talked them into playing the Champions League music over the PA as we ran out.....to a totally empty stadium. It was an absolute pisser. Unfortunately the football didn't match the entrance.

Damn!!! Looks like the end of our gas the number voucher game.:-( This is one of my favourite games...having said that, I'm all in favour of the swipe card; easier to carry and after teething problems should be more efficient.

how much will stoke charge for someone who loses there card as surely this will happen more with people keeping the cards in their wallets other than storing them at home like they would a booklet?

I hope an automated ticket system will be based on a bar code rather than a swipe system - they're much more reliable. For the first ten years at the Brit, we had swipe cards for the upper west stand - they rarely worked and after a while we didn't even try using the machines and just waved the card at the steward. Once the initial ten year membership schemes expired we moved to the same vouchers as everyone else. I like the idea of a single plastic card season ticket since I can keep it in my wallet and not risk leaving it behind but I'm not keen to go back to a system that didn't work before.
