I think its a great shame when a manager like jurgen klopp comes put and says after signing a defender from Preston that Preston are not a club they look at in normal circumstances.. Despite all the money prem teams have and scouts all over the world its sad they seem to be overlooking teams in the lower leagues who im sure have players who could do a job in the Premier. Not all overseas players are world stars and I'm sure players in the efl could be equally as good as many overseas players in the prem. For every aguero in the prem there are also joelintons.

I wonder if alex Neil regrets turning us down. Pne were doing well then but have been in decline since. With contract issues of players at pne up there with scholes at his very best....maybe his influence is still over pne.

Studs up, in the air, lack of control. Doesn’t matter if he got the ball does it? Hes missed the ball his leg goes over the top of the ball so it puts his studs up He didmt miss the ball. His studs had passed the player before his trailing knee caught the striker

Would Powell be interested in moving to the prem - yes. I imagine he would and he would expect to be in matchday squads from day one.
Would Collins be interested in a prem move - yes. But would he be happy to spend two seasons in the reserves waiting for his chance..im not so sure.
Of the two I would rather keep collins. And dont believe he is ready for a prem relegation battle with a team like Burnley...but as ive said before, the longer were in the championship the more likely our better players will get picked off one by one by prem teams.
I still think were better to go up this year and take the prem money and see what happens. Even if we come down we should be rid of the mercenaries and with plenty of opportunity to rebuild properly.

Might knock that massive chip off his shoulder. Never seen a young manager whose achieved nothing yet as a manager appear so arrogant as lampard has this season

It’s the double edged sword of having good, young players....eventually they get noticed. My worry has always been that we will lose them and go backwards. We shouldn’t do as Brentford can make it work, but I’m not so sure about us. Thats my concern as well. It's all right saying forget this season and build for next season but the longer were inthe championship the more chance our better players will get picked off putting us back to square one.

Not watching. How's Batth doing? Well apparently on this forum tonight he's gone from being a waste of oxygen to some sort of goalscoring defensive rock hero.....only on the oatcake!!

As always happens on this forum. When a player is out injured for any period of time the memory plays tricks on us and we begin to think the player out injured is suddenly world class and they will tear opposing teams apart upon there return..this is true of verlinden who if were honest has in the short opportunities he has had in the first team - usually from the subs bench with 15 minutes to go done ok but only ok. Has created a couple of decent crosses yes. But was also shown to be quite physically weak and often easily lost possession to the opposing full back. Lets try and keep some reality when were talking about players out injured and the impact they will make in the first team. Joe Allen is a prime example..while out injured some on this board morphed him into the welsh pirlo, some all energetic, creative playmaker who would protect our defence and create chances for our strikers..in reality upon his return he still has no positional sense. Runs around like a headless chicken. Bad first touch second touch a foul. Easily pushed off the ball. And couldnt pick a forward pass to save his life.. Maybe vokes out injured would morph him into the next Van Basten..

Thought his contract was up in the summer? Which means we are paying for a player who won't be available to us until his contract runs out. I might have my players mixed up. But if correct how the fuck can that seem sensible to folk? Maybe its sensible because the manager is planning for the future not just the present. Maybecpaying a fee for someone now who will bring value to our squad long term is worth it rather than join probably a dozen other clubs scrambling for him in the summer. Maybe we've avoided the criticism of him joining someone else on a free in the summer and moans of why didnt coates get his wedge out earlier. If he has signed for us. Well done everyone at stoke for making sure we backed the manager and got the man he wanted.

In my eyes Dave Bamber is remembered fondly for scoring in the boxing day 3-1 win at home to Man City...setting off the stoke chant telling the citeh fans where they could place their bananas.
Also got an average of a goal every 5 games for us...seen worse.

Honestly think MON will go for an experienced striker who is battle hardened and used to being up against 2 physical centre backs. There is a massive difference from u23 to championship football. even now MON prefers tyrese to play slightly wide away from the opposition centre backs with usually a more hardened centre forward playing central.
Remember tyrese playing in the prem against morgan of Leicester who made him look like a little boy lost.
Some league experience needed is my choice for a central striker not a player from somebody elses u23 squad.

Might sound crazy but maybe he's too fast.... Wolves have purposely slowed traore down to improve his overall game. He himself has said he now doesn't run at 100% as this has a negative effect on his game....
Maybe vokes is using the same tactic.

Marc Goodfellow was really quick. Greyhounds to Gary Hackett was quick and excellant at putting his head down and running the ball out for a goal kick..or did i dream that.

Maybe they are not rushing verlinden into full 90 min championship games due to building him Back up fully after a long injured spell Or maybe the players confidence needs building up slowly after a serious injury. Would much rather players are slowly reintroduced to the team after a long injury out than being rushed back which can trigger other niggles and injuries.

As someone said in an earlier post it wasnt that long ago we were getting beat by spurs 4-0 or 5-0 when in the prem with a team full of couldn't be arsed mercenaries (wimmer a prime example of that in the defeat at WHL) At least we put a team out tonight that cared and gave their best. Upwards and onwards
Tgink the stick souttar is getting is mad. Played well against a very good spurs front line. Yes one mistake which cost the 2nd goal but he'll learn...and at least he didnt cost 18 million.

This is where we miss Joe Allen, somebody in midfield to take the ball off the defence without shitting themselves or losing it, so it's not left to a centre back to smash it up to Fletcher. Must be a different allen to what I remember.

The difference between the prem and championship is massive. Don't think spurs are even near their top gear yet. This team/squad need a few more transfer windows before we can hope to get back into the prem.

Think if we could ping a 40yrd ball over the defence Vokes could use his pace to out run the defence and smash in the 2nd goal.
I also believe in father Christmas.

2 shots to their 10. Not a good stat... I agree. We're winning but it's not easy on the eye at all. It's like every game we are the away team.
