He's no doubt a fan, he no doubt cares. There's also no doubt he is THE one constant presiding over all of this. Yet his local status seems to keep him immune from criticism from certain sections of the fan base. Free coach travel is great, a fanzone is great, a nice sports bar is great, safe standing is great. However I couldn't give two fucks about any of this if the direction of the actual club is continually regressing. No one can argue that the club has not gone backwards since 2018 when he took more control. He might have loads of cash. He might have spent lots of cash but much of his spending has been to mop up the mistakes that he keeps making. How is it acceptable to come down from the Premier League 6 years ago and not finish in the top half of the table once, nevermind get anywhere near the play offs. A less wealthy owner but with a real head for business and able to bring a successful long term defined structure and plan would not need to have spent as much money as JC has. Clearly I'm just a punter so I'm not connected in football circles so I don't know who else is out there who would buy the club but by Christ, it's not hard to spot where the problem is. He's a fan? He hadxa box at The Shit, didn't he? Or have you missed two consonants out?

We had, and have, absolutely every condition necessary to be an established, long-term top-half Premier League club. We should never have been relegated. How have they allowed it to come to this? If they take us down to the third division with their resources they’ll have to go down as some of the most incompetent people ever to own a football club. It’s an absolute joke

When will Mr Coats realise he can’t run a football club . Sell up and give us supporters some hope for the future.

Is there anything to suggest that their lengthy poor running of the club would be any different in league 1? Outside of factors that would aid us like our recently flourishing youth set up and some more breathing room regarding FFP, im not convinced.

Shambolic decision to sack a manager 5 games into a season, and replace him with someone with even less managerial experience. What were Walter’s and Coates thinking?

Name one good reason why he should stay.
Yes, they do well off the pitch, but on it (where it matters) it’s really utter crap, they know how to make a stadium and training ground look alright but have no idea on how to run a football club

It's just typical Stoke isn't.
To have local owners who are amongst the richest in English football but unfortunately, just aren't forward thinking regarding the game.

I'd like to thank Jon Coates for taking me back to my youth.
It's like being 21 again and watching a Mills team. A mixtures of youth and experience, a sprinkling of gold dust, but ultimately as weak as piss, easy to play against and beat and heading for the third tier.
Do you reckon he could magic my hairline back?

A succession of terrible appointments and years of decline. Hard to argue now that we wouldn’t just be better with someone at the top. It’s alright appointing people in to the top positions to absolve responsibility as long as they are actually competent. Just seems that John Coates has got the Andrex touch.

And whilst most of the time he doesn’t know how to spend it, you can’t achieve anything if you don’t have that money in the first place.

It’s an absolute joke The dire uninspiring appointment of Paul Lambert caused that. To have no succession plan in place in a multi million pound business was negligent and they have not learnt a single thing since then. Absolutely clueless at running a football club despite no doubt the best of intentions.

Do you reckon he could magic my hairline back? Mate, it's not far off is it?! We'd get chased down Boothen old road by police horses (Chester at home etc) for voicing an anti Coates opinion. It's just the same but the support is far tamer now. The stoke support of the 90s wouldn't have put up with such a drastic decline and incompetence. I'd argue the amateurish running of the club now is worse given the money spent in the last 6 years. Coates Mark 1 never spunked this amount of cash away. .He was more content with selling our best players on deadline day and letting Moxey piss off one of our best ever managers. He came back and redeemed himself though. Jon is never going to show a level of competence where he will turn stuff around. No chance he saves any fuckers hairline either.

He was nearly lynched at one point. His son hasn't got a clue and neither has Walters

With each day that passes under the Coates family's ownership, more and more irreparable damage is being done to this once great club.
Get these incompetent billionaire dickheads out before it's too late.
