Thanks for the above post/video.
Crossrail looks tremendous and will surely be a huge boost for London.

Anyone seen the black clad face covered rentamob trying to intimidate the protesters at Swynnerton. Upto 60 or 70 security people 24 hours a day for the last couple of weeks trying to intimidate 5 or 6 protesters into leaving a wood. Must be costing hundreds of thousands on it own.
It’s amazing how much money is completely wasted sometimes
One of the most ridiculous things I’ve seen and completely disproportionate

I sympathise with your Northwich issue and in no way defending the present government, but wish to point out that the Crossrail concept was kicked around for decades and finally given the go ahead with the Crossrail Act in 2008 by the then Labour government. Lord Adonis that arch anti Brexiteer and pro spending huge amounts of tax payers money cut the first sod in 2009. Labour governments have for generations talked about supporting their heartlands and done very little. The Tory government that came to power in 2010 had a spending revue on Crossrail and regrettably cut back expenditure as part of austerity measures. The moneys already granted as part of levelling up and other initiatives (see my post page 1,455) far exceed anything by any previous governments, plus action like moving treasury offices to Darlington, free ports, etc. It is going to take decades to reverse the drift in business and commerce towards the south east. I'm sure you are right that if the blocked road was in Surrey it would have been attended to far quicker. But with the investment in Manchester, future HS2, I'm confident Cheshire will be the Surrey of the North in time to come although I may not still around to see it. www.buyassociation.co.uk/2022/02/08/manchester-leads-economic-growth/#:~:text=Economic%20growth%20in%20Manchester%20in,the%20year%20ahead%20at%206.5%25.

I know, I was involved in a project for 3 of our new offices in East Manchester in the early 2000's in a new Business park, Central Park, we were the anchor tenants, promises of shops, nursery, metro and travel interchange etc. I'd attended many meetings with East Manchester Council Regeneration team in their portacabin offices behind Beswick market, after we signed up, Bliars government cut the funding for all the extra's, the metro line to it and sent it to London for crossrail, it all went legal and we almost pulled out. The metro station got built besides the A62 at the new central park, but it never had train lines or trains for years.

Another section scrapped. So much for levelling up, and telling us about the importance of public transport. These Tories couldn't care less now their friends have had very healthy contracts out of it. www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2022/06/07/hs2-scaled-back-3bn-link-scotland-quietly-culled/"Ministers have quietly cancelled a £3bn section of HS2 that would have allowed Scotland to benefit from the controversial high-speed rail line. The 13-mile “Golborne Link” near Manchester is to be culled, HS2 minister Andrew Stephenson has announced."

Well done to Labour in Warrington then. It's a shame that Staffordshire can't do the same. Vandals ruining the most beautiful stretches of countryside.
