And a lot of shit ones in the last few and expensive shit at that ! Yep. Under both systems (and the system did change with the Butland signing) our big money activity has been fucking appalling by and large. Coates must be pulling his hair out but I hope it hurts him when he does because the writing has been on the wall for years now and he just seems to think it will right itself with a managerial change. The process is fine of course. Can you imagine how a bookie must feel letting others gamble with his money? Which, in itself, makes the continuation of the 'process', particularly the same cogs in the 'process', staggering!

I've absolutely no time for Dave Kitson. What a prick.

Dave Kitson - a complete non entity in the history of Stoke City FC.
Tony Pulis- part of the fabric of our recent success who whether popular or not will go down in the history books of Stoke City F.C..
I blame Kitson of course.

I think it's fair to say not many players wanted to sign for us when we got promoted. We were favourites to go down and some players thought it was bad career move. Kitson signed because Reading went down and he didn't get a better option. We did okay without him and Kitson career went downhill. Perhaps he should have listened more to Pulis.

No I don’t I’m blaming the clubs scouting network or whoever does the signings. But those players mentioned above I’m sure you want to praise scholes for signing them too But what about the rest of the shit we signed ! Weve signed more good players than bad over the past dozen years. Not over the last 5 Dave

"He had left me on the bench for some reason or another. I can’t remember what it was." I'll help you with that Dave. You were fucking wank. The Secret 'Footballer' sounds like a completely unhinged fruit loop in that interview. He did play him out of position tho didn't he?

Who signed the players then ? You obviously want to heap the blame on Scholes for signing Kitson. Who was responsible for signing Fuller, Lawrence, Delap, Faye, Etherington and Beattie then? We made a few strange/poor signings that summer. Was a case of getting extra bodies in I think. I’m surprised your list is so short. I’d add the likes of Sorensen Huth Higgy Whelan Pennant Cresswell Sidibe and Begovic in a heartbeat. Pulis May have made some baffling mistakes ala the ginger ninja but he got so much more right than wrong. His DNA signings aren’t a stick to beat him with

Can’t have been easy to persuade players to come to stoke in that first closed season.
We were absolute certainties with everyone to ‘do a Derby’ and the club’s profile was non-existent. It’s not surprising we we forced into looking at damaged goods.

It’s not surprising we we forced into looking at damaged goods. He really wasn’t ‘damaged goods’ though was he when we signed him with close on 100 goals in about 240 appearances including quite a few in the top flight. At the time he was just about as good as we could have hoped for and by today’s standards a snip at £5.5 million. In context, one third of either Wimmer or Imbula’s price!! It just didn’t work out for either the club or player and quite who’s fault that was we may never know.

Weve signed more good players than bad over the past dozen years. Same goes for all clubs, Man Utd had their share of signings that didn’t work out under Fergie, not bad players most of them either - just wrong time, wrong place. Sign the right ones though and nobody needs to remember the flops.

Shear stupidity from Kitson, but this story is a cut above his Secret Footballer writeups.

I know for a fact that in his time here, he was out dining in Stone and proceeded to start giving it the big one, whereupon a fan who had heard enough, went over to him and twatted him, subsequently giving him a swelling so large he was mysteriously not in the squad the following week.
I despise Pulis, but Kitson by all accounts was, and would still appear to be, an absolute cunt.

How does Pulis come out of that particular story badly? Some usual suspects really showing their arses on this thread! He never does though does he and that’s my point I suppose it was James Beatties fault also?...yep of course it was as he was another bad egg apparently when a player is more interested in a piss up than the result of a match they have just lost just shows where their priorities lie, I am with tp on this one.

speaks volumes that when kitson grabbed the scissors the other players wrestled him to the ground. if tp was such the bad man the other players wouldn't have stepped in, only one cunt here and it wasn't tp.

Eh? So, just to get it right, if they didn't 'like' the manager everyone would've stood aside and let Kitson stab him with the scissors? Really? I reckon Kitson expected TP to come up with a massive pebble or a copy of the Sentinel. Just as likely as your theory...

"Arsenal have so much quality that they get their chances no matter how well you play.
"It was a big, big challenge, but the lads never stopped working. They did smashing and it was a much improved performance on last year.
"Arsenal played some smashing football but I was really pleased with the character and the spirit of my squad."
Pulis's comments after that Arsenal game. Don't sound like the words of a manager who'd begrudge his players a Christmas night out do they?

This is weird. I’m sure I saw an interview with Kitson after he’d left us talking about some of his mental issues/depression etc. If i recall correctly (and it seems that I don’t) he was saying something along the lines of it didn’t really work out at Stoke but Tone had been ‘great’ trying to help him through his problems. Anyone else remember this or was it some sort of weird Kitson dream I had?
