4 I thought we at least competed especially in midfield but christ on a bike we are woeful at creating chances. This wonderful Diamond formation many on here get excited about is abut as entertaining as Rowett's 4-3-3. At least NJ never fails to entertain and give us a WTF moment in his selection or subs and the Ryan was was right up there. It's a classic Pub football sub, throw the big lump on up top, not seen that for some time! But for the love of god why does he think McClean is a good choice to partner Vokes?.....baffling and a bit worrying.

Morelos has 23 goals in 38 games for Rangers that is some scoring for a 22 yr old! But he is an absolute headcase as his 4 reds show this season. It must be his discipline that's stopping bigger clubs from signing him. It will be interesting to see if he moves on in the summer, someone will surely take a punt on him.

Christ McClean at wing back! Defensively he is a liability, Baggies fans suggested this at the time of his transfer. We've also seen him lose his man many times when defending and it has lead to us conceding. I really don't like throwing players into unfamiliar positions particularly key ones. Instead of sorting the defense out this window we seem to have made problems for ourselves. I would stick Clucas there but the manager I think will pick BMI sadly.

Very sad to see Crouchie go but good luck to him adding to his Prem goals tally. Legend is very overused but not for him as his benefit to SCFC goes way beyond his on pitch activities. He significantly raised the profile of the club. Wherever I used to travel overseas on business a chat with a taxi driver or a barman about football in some far flung part of Asia or South America and I would mention Stoke the first response was Peter Crouch! One of the few hugely likeable good guys in football (and here are sadly too few) I hope after he retires he stays in the game in a role that benefits football. It would be very easy for him to pursue media career and emulate Lineker who has given nothing back to the game while making himself very wealthy. I really hope he sees his future in coaching or management.

It's a january window which often disappoints. But this has been a bizarre window for me. Where is the Jones revolution? Two older championship players brought in hardly excites. The out goings are even more bizarre. Campbell has shown enough to persist with in the squad and arguably delivers more than Berahino or Diouf. Pieters off, he was a consistent performer at left back but of course he doesn't suit the system so we are left with either Tymon or Clucas, neither are particularly good and do they 'suit the system'? Crouch and Campbell gone it means our attacking options off the bench are Berahino and Diouf. I would much see Crouch coming on than either of those two. Pretty limp and confusing window....4

It would be a shame if we couldn't shift McClean to Forest. Not sure we will have too many takers in the future so we are stuck with an aging bang average at best who the manager and many fans don't want for a few years.

If this rumour is true, there`s only one outcome I reckon ............ he will choose Villa over Stoke ........ wouldn`t you ? Villa are in just as much of a mess as us though. Wages will be comparable. And he's worked with Jones pretty much all his career. We'd have to be favs just by virtue of the Jones connection surely? There is no guarantee that him and Jones are bosom buddies and if he is looking at a career move with the ambition of being a prem player Villa is clearly the better option. Higher profile club and more likely than us for a return to the top level any time soon.

In terms of Batth and looking back to the minerals that got us promoted over 10 years ago, and given the league hasn't really changed that much, how would you say he compares to Leon Cort, for example? From the little i've seen of him I'd say he's a better player. Stronger in the air, more aggressive etc.
The standard of the championship has moved on considerably in 10 years. That Promo team we had under Pulis just scraped promotion, it's likely to be mid-table in comparison to todays standard.

Well one thing that seems to be unanimous is that Baath ain't quick and seems a similar player to Ryan. All the sages on here have been screaming for a young CB with some pace and Nathan the Messiah seemingly sees it very differently. Concern for me is the Beswicks connection as I have lost any faith in our recruitment process. However the biggest 'red flag' is that Pulis who say what you like about him knows a decent CB, doesn't want him even as back up and surely at 3.5m if TP wanted him they would have signed him. Let's hope he turns about to be a huge success and fly in the face of our recent, no doubt very considered efforts at recruiting CB's step forward Wolly and Wimmer! Pulis does want him as back up. Wolves have recalled him so they can sell him..... Ok but you know Tone he can never have too many backup CBs and at 3.5m surely TP would have had first refusal. More likely is that he has had a good look at him and isn't fussed. Doesn't mean he's shite but we have had a string of poor CB recruitment whereas TP rarely gets that one wrong. Flint seems to be more than OK

Phillips was talking about him this week. Whilst he said he was a good finisher (in training at least) he did say... “I don’t think he means to do it. “We would be away in a hotel and he’d be late to dinner and he wouldn’t even try to sneak in or make an excuse. “It was like ‘Saido you’re late’. “‘Yeah I just overslept.’ “‘You are going to be fined.’ “‘Yeah okay no problem.’” Red flag, doesn't really fit in with NJ respect or attitude criteria. Or mine either tbh. Unanimously supporters think we have a squad taking the piss, I'm afraid he's close to the top of that list and NJ seems to have sussed him early. Awful attitude if true, he needs someone to have a serious word with him as if he doesn’t sort this out then his career is effectively over. Such a waste as there is a decent player in there but he seemingly has the mindset of a petulant teenager, a filthy rich petulant teenager. Saido was famous at WBA for his late time keeping regularly turning up late for training and blaming traffic.According to Fletcher it became a bit of a joke. Some on here will think it's a trivial thing but it's not. Add this to his rap sheet of drug test failure fathering kids at will, cheating on his fiancee with a hooker, failing to raise a single penny for his chosen charity etc etc. He really is a major arsehole and any due diligence would have said steer clear and we ate stuck with him.

0 You go with NO creative players on the pitch and hey surprise you get absolutely nothing in return. I've watched some absolute car crashes of managerial displays over the last few years and that was up with the worst of them. He got absolutely nothing right. But hey he's a young manager learning his trade and so as long as he wins 4/5 more games we should be OK. Let's hope for all our sakes he learns quickly!

Well I am sure Carto and Scholesy will be all over this and if they follow the process, which we are told has worked so well, they will be watching this 25 times before making any decision. thorough due diligence by the men in suites.

I would be sad to see him go I think he could still be a huge hit at this level. However it's got to be very tempting for him. He's had a pretty miserable time here for the last year or so. Boston is a fabulous city I lived there for a year and had an absolute blast heading up to Maine Vermont New England and a coast magical. Why wouldn't he?

What about Leeds free kick towards the end of the first half..close to block 26/27..when a Leeds player slipped..got the free kick..then moved the ball about 10 yards and took it close to the 18 yard box. Neither the ref or linesman over ruled the cheating Leeds bastard. Leeds player also took a corner with the ball clearly outside the quadrant ( i know this happens a lot) and the ref or linesman ignored a blatant abuse of the rules. Many will say it's a trivial thing but it's a result of a cheating mindset that clearly has no respect for officials or rules of the game...pisses me off. p.s. Leeds players were also snidey bastards in the face of the ref at every decision, will suit the prem to a tee.

10 A very brave team selection going with the players who performed well against Shrews and his subs were spot on and at the right time. It's hard to find fault with that performance and as others have said to outsmart Bielsa tactically is a real coup...well done lad.

I am not a fan but he did well today for the short time he was on. Coming on as a sub later in the game does stretch the opposition but as a front 3 for 90 mins he has shown that he delivers not very much. OK squad player but get rid if we can and bring in someone better

I am pretty much in a minority here in being a bit sceptical of whether he will succeed and reserving judgement on NJ for the time being. In the context of where we are as a club I think the board have made the right appointment. Even an expensive investment in the likes of Moyes and 10's of millions on players he would not have delivered promotion. I think along with the fans they have come to the conclusion that the players are just not up for it and can't handle the requirements of the Championship and a rebuild is necessary. Posters have been impressed with NJ's comments as indeed they were with GR. They are also seduced by his record of attacking play and after a year of Lambert and Rowett any semblance of attacking play will be a welcome relief. But he is inexperienced and tuesday showed a slightly concerning lack of smart game management. We had 5 players with very little game time and in Bauer and Adam have hardly kicked a ball this season. He really should have made subs on the hour to freshen up tired legs, he didn't and they ran through us. He seems like a chap who learns quickly...let's hope so.

On the 'Berahino thread' Camstoke suggests Berahino has been our best player so far this season! Anyone agree? Fast forward to May and Saido receives the award? In an absolute shower of shit I can't see any further than Tom Ince.

Berahinos contribution this season is way behind even the likes of Fraizer feckin Campbell and a 34 year old Danny Graham! I would be giving more game time to Tyrese ahead of Saido who has had more than enough chances. Let's hope the new gaffer sees it that way.The season is over we know what Saido can produce lets see if Tyrese can make the step up.

It's truly bizarre how some posters still think Berahino is of any use to us. We have heard just about every excuse why he doesn't perform. Now it's because he hasn't had enough games as a striker. However Ince has scored and assisted more from out wide and even Joe Allen has better stats playing in midfield. It's our continual selection of Saido and indeed McClean that see us failing to score enough. As part of a front three they are simply not good enough. Also a brief look at the stats of some bang average strikers at other clubs only underlines how poor a contribution Saido has made...but hey he works hard makes great runs and holds the ball up well...christ on a bike!

There seems to be a few smug posters who believe we have the next Pep Guardiola in our dugout. We have taken a punt on a young largely unproven manager who could turn out the be the next Eddie Howe or quite easily be the next Gary Monk or Tim Sherwood and consign us to this level for the next 3 years or much longer. I wouldn't want O'Neill mainly because of the brand of football he serves up, but Notts F looks like a decent fit for him and he will get his team motivated. And as others have said it will be interesting to see where Forest finish the season compared to us.

Having watched a lot of champs footie this season I come to the conclusion that teams playing like Leeds or indeed Brentford are the template for promo. I think this is the type of footie Jones wants to play. Sadly we have very few players who are quick and can move the ball quickly. Maybe Bauer Bojan Etebo perhaps Woods and an outside choice Berahino. The rest don't have that mentality and indeed many have suffered from one whole year of playing for percentage damage limitation managers in Lambo and Rowett. It's no surprise they have limited attacking skills. We are light years away from Leeds Brentford West Brom. We are now committed to Jones and his style and will take a huge turnover in players and it's a very tall order to get promo even next season. In summary I think we ate looking at a lengthy stay at this level.
