But they’re shit rules , ffp was set up to stop teams repeatedly going into administration, it hasn’t worked , stopping clubs with money from spending it stops smaller clubs from making any profit from transfers That was a daft response by me. I suppose they might argue that keeping clubs to limits puts a cap on inflation and risky behaviour. Some kind of cash breakeven rule would make much more sense, cash flow is what kills businesses in many ways. It was daft, but appreciate the sentiment as we all want "fairness" We want rules in place that make sense. FFP rules meant we couldn't sell players at significant losses earlier in their career with us because we would have had to bank a large accounting loss in one year. The result, we lost way more money, spending more money on salaries and just continuing to hold on to a player and loan them out. That's just simply ridiculous and we aren't the only club to have experienced it, but possibly the one who has experienced it at its worst. [If Everton are relegated however they may take our title.] It meant the football club lost more money and if we didn't have owners that are prepared to back the club so much we could have gone bust. That for me is a massive failing of FFP, possibly its biggest as it encourages poor financial decision making so as to avoid an FFP penalty. We should be encouraging owners to sink their money in, but also limit borrowing against the club. It would be better to have a salary and transfer fee total to turnover cap %, where anything above the percentage has to be fully funded from owner money and cannot be funded through debt.

For me that was the most gutting thing with seeing MON go. He gave young players pathways to getting in the team. If Shawcross would implement a structure that gave talented young players a pathway into the team I'd be happy. But then why not Bojan, Hoekstra, any other ex stoke player instead? Why does it have to be an ex Stoke player? Thats possible?

Delap couldn't finish his dinner. I like the sound of this Hogg fella though, two goals? Give him a run in the league. Hogg? I thought it was Perry Ng's neighbour.

Shawcross

I’d like to see Ryan Shawcross come in to the setup on a permanent basis. We need the modern chief executive, technical director and director of football triumvirate approach. We need to bring through our youngsters. We need to accept that promotion from here is a 3 year project and that Neil and Shawcross could be the leaders we need. Work has been done on the finances and infrastructure. Rediscovering our football identity is the missing link and these two guys could do it. What evidence do you base predicting that Shawcross could do a good job here? Just because he was a good player doesn’t mean he’ll be good in a management or DOF role, or even a good coach. We had a manger who was developing our younger players, we sacked him and replaced him with a manager who’s performing worse and doesn’t play younger players. If we want an identity we need to decide what it is and be patient, it will take time. The biggest thing will be recruiting managers that fit the identity of who we want to be, instead of the totally different type or style of manager we keep doing For me that was the most gutting thing with seeing MON go. He gave young players pathways to getting in the team. If Shawcross would implement a structure that gave talented young players a pathway into the team I'd be happy. But then why not Bojan, Hoekstra, any other ex stoke player instead?

www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/transfer-news-live-manutd-mudryk-28849219Tom Hopkinson Leicester lead Souttar raceLeicester are leading the race for Australia’s World Cup star Harry Souttar as boss Brendan Rodgers looks to sort out his defensive problems. Stoke centre-back Souttar was one of the standout players for the Aussies in Qatar. The fact he had only recently returned from more than a year on the sidelines made his performances all the more impressive. West Ham and Wolves also fancy the 6ft 6in, 24-year-old, but Rodgers has had him watched in his last three matches. he's not been quite so good in the last 3 games

Are people seriously turning their noses up at Bentley? You have seen Bonham and Bursik right? And you’ve also seen our financial situation, I trust? Ok, he lost his place at Bristol but he was close to a move to the PL in august, is club captain, experienced at this level (something we desperately need!), out of contract in the summer making him affordable… and he’s seemingly available. I’m intrigued to hear who else we should realistically sign? He's a good player and far better than what we have here. My Bristol City mates tell me he'd be in their first team of it weren't for him having already told Pearson he won't sign a new contract till the end of the season. Pearson has done it with other players there before too.

Me too Surely a 2 in front of the 5 and not a 1 Easy mistake to make as they are next to one another Who’s gonna pay 25m for Souttar? More likely to get £25m if we include sell on fee and appearance based fees

Holy crap tachyon. If I read your numbers right out shooters and keepers both suck? And the rest of the team is performing middle of the pack-ish. Theres a reason GK is probably the most important signing for us. Could have saved atleast 7 goals already. I wonder how many additional points that would likely have resulted in? 5? more?

We've had worse combos this season.
Its a dull game, but we've played okay, we just don't create enough high quality chances, instead it feels like we create quite a few low quality chances.
If we lose it'll be down to a calamity moment.

we've been the better team, no-one had played well or badly, possibly poorest performer was Brown.
Preston have come for the away point, we just have to be careful of giving away the customary easy easy goal.
Would be tempted to bring Powell on for Brown

How that shower deserve to start after the Burnley game is beyond me. We played fairly well against Burnley, they must have thought they were extremely lucky to get the 3 points. Not sure of todays line up, is it 4-3-3 or 3-5-2? If its 4-3-3 again we may see Tymon struggle. It would be good to see Baker only in the oppositions half. Powell to come on up top c70minutes?

Useless, again. God forbid he’d go in for a 50/50. did he have that much? Could have done better if he had shot instead of crossed in the first half, but all he had was the opportunity of pressurising the burnley back line into a mistake.

His form has coincided with a change in duties.
Last season he was able to get on the edge of the box a lot more where his excellent striking technique set him apart.
This season he isn't and the rest of his game just isnt good enough to compensate.
I dont like him sitting deep receiving passes from Jagielka or Souttar to then make a short sideways pass. Both those centre backs have excellent long range passing too. Defensively whilst he's fairly athletic he isn't strong enough to provide protection to the back, which if its a 3man defence shouldn't really be required anyway.
Lets get him closer to goal and im sure his form will get better straight away.

I’m guessing the long list of Champions League clubs phones were broken? Well he's certainly not going for footballing reasons is he the greedy greasy haired twat. Cant blame him at all. The trophies and awards that have evaded him aren't ones he is good enough to get now, so this move makes perfect sense. How amazing to be earning c$205k a day! 😂

its how i see it, but with the players on the pitch it does allow us to move to a 4-3-3 should it be required, possibly just in attacking phases.

Powell's an interesting one, isn't he? Hard to really get a handle on what manager or player are thinking, with his injury issues and his reported desire to stay close to Cheshire to factor in. Can't see a Prem team coming in for him, so would he get a financial offer higher than what we could muster in the summer, if we wanted him to stay? 28 this summer, so his last big deal. But he'll be coming into it with a weaker hand given how this season has gone It'll be interesting if he gets back into the team as a key player over the next month For me, he's overhyped as an attacking midfielder as his decision making, passing isn't quite good enough and he seeks the ball too much in deep positions. Would prefer him as a target man as he's good in the air and his hold up play is decent when he's doing it in areas higher up the pitch.

Doesn’t look like some of the Wolves fans are impressed with Collins with some of the replies to this tweet🤔 General feedback looks like Collins is great for 95% of the game then loses his head, or Another defender does for a moment and the team concede. He'll be a good defender.

Thanks mate, helpful as always. Staggering we've got all three keepers out of contract, although to be honest may not be a bad thing. Can't see us keeping any of those highlighted - Powell would be the one but for the wage and the ever decreasing playing time I just can't see us going for it, and suppose we may give fox an extra year. I think Sterling's actual contract is up in the summer, so we may be able to nab him on a free. Seemingly another pretty big rebuild over the coming couple of windows. A great player when fit,Sterling has got to prove he can get a consistent run in the side without breaking down. His career this far has been one of consistently being injured. If Sterling wasn't injured as frequently he'd be in the premier League playing fairly regularly. Does make it hard to know whether to sign him up, as it's hard to build a side with players frequently out injured. Fosu for me has been fairly exciting with no end product, so he's not needed at all. 19 games, 1 assist, 0 goals.

www.skysports.com/transfer-centreMiddlesbrough showing strongest interest in Sunderland's StewartSky Sports News reporter Keith Downie: Middlesbrough are showing the strongest interest from a clutch of clubs wanting to sign Sunderland striker Ross Stewart. The Scotland international's Sunderland future is in doubt with only 18 months left on his contract - and he could leave in January despite scoring seven goals in just nine games this season. A number of other Championship clubs - including Stoke and Blackburn - are keen on acquiring free-scoring Stewart, who could command a fee of up to £10m next month.Premier League duo Crystal Palace and Brentford are also monitoring the 26-year-old, but his more likely destination is a fellow Championship side, should he leave Sunderland. Talks over a new contract at The Stadium of Light have reached an impasse in recent weeks and Sunderland could cash in now rather than let his contract run down. Scottish club Rangers have also shown interest but any move for Stewart would likely depend on the future of Alfredo Morelos. Stewart has missed the past four months of the season with a thigh injury but returned to the side last week, scoring in both Sunderland's matches - against Hull and Blackburn. Stewart was League One top scorer with 26 goals last season as Sunderland were promoted, and his red-hot form has continued into the new campaign. Where have we been hiding £10m? Is this lazy journalism or are we selling the likes of brown, Tymon and souttar for a trolley dash?

It would be a hard sell, but we should be making an outstanding offer to get bbd. sounds silly as he will most likely have offers from the premier League as well as parachute payment teams but presented in the right way it could work. 0% chance 😗 yeah, not far off, could you go to 1%? definitely 0% if we don't make an offer.

Deja vu with us and Paul Lambert our relegation year. Fucking hell Apart from Lambert was an abomination, who wouldn't have secured a championship role with any other club let alone a premier league one! That said, saints look certainties for relegation now. As we know, when the crowd turn it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.
