Younger lower league players with a hunger to progress in the game, with resale value rather than has-beens. You know, like when Brentford signed Toney from Peterborough before they reached the Premier League For every Ivan Toney, you'll pick up 10 Chris Greenacres from the lower leagues. Always potentially a gamble unless stringent groundworks been put in, but get the point you're making.. So what's the answer, more has-beens like Vokes? The club needs to sort it's scouting out, and that includes abroad.

A 70 something pensioner has come out of retirement for a couple of months and shown how to organise and motivate a pretty mediocre group of players. It wouldn't bother me if AN went tonight..if I didn't think John would be crawling through broken glass to get Steve Bruce. Get potter in If there was any realistic chance of that Neil's feet wouldn't touch the floor

Could he be sacked? There’s no reason as to why you’d keep him is there? Who would you expect the gormless twat running the club to appoint next?

Usually I'm gutted when the regular season ends but it can't come quick enough lately.
Here's to the play offs and high drama between some teams who play exciting football.

Fuck off Sunderland. And fuck off Gary Rowett. How does he get credit for getting Millwall into the exact same position each year?! Given their budget he's doing okay there.

Why is everyone assuming we are signing Ashley Barnes. I haven't even seen a link My question as well. A quick trawl on Google and I can only find vague links with Norwich City. He'd be such a 'Stoke' signing

The discussion with me was started with the statement from ANOther that " he would have the pick of Prem clubs".. Which I totally disagree with. I'm not slagging Potter off by the way.. Just think the bigger clubs like spurs won't touch him due to his relative inexperience and failure at Chelsea. Brentford if Frank gets headhunted then probably yes. Agree most of the big clubs wouldn’t go for him - Liverpool, the Manchester clubs, Arsenal, obv Chelsea wouldn’t. Think he’d get an interview at least with the rest. He’s a better manager than Eddie Howe imo. Spurs have appointed worse. The job he did at Ostersünds and at Brighton hasn’t been wiped away by a Chelsea gig he never seemed suited for. He’s a bloke who needs a project, and Chelsea was never that. Spurs might be and could see him or Rodgers doing a decent job there. Chelsea was the wrong club at the wrong time for Potter. If he wants a crack at the England job further down the line he probably needs a decent spell at one of the big clubs though.

Completed the bootcamp and feel so much better for it, lost nearly 2 stone in weight and muscless mass increased by quite a bit whilst also shredding body fat! Now doing 4 circuits most weeks combined with putting some miles into my legs, it's given me a big boost for the summer plans that we have! Now looking forward to a family wedding and Krakow coming up! Has Prestwich done it yet? 😉

What are your thoughts on the recent trouble in Paris, Red? The police certainly aren't messing around there. And nor are the protesters. The French have a long (and proud?) history of taking to the streets when faced with unpopular decisions from the ruling authorities. I haven't seen enough of the coverage, to answer your question properly, sorry, but what strikes me most about the whole pension affair and shows up the difference between France and the UK is the difference in reaction. They are raising the state pension age from 62 to 64. Ours is already 67 I think and mooted to rise to 68. What will be our response? Nothing, I suspect. I often say British society is about knowing your place, not getting too uppity or ideas above your station and that is a good example of it. The co-ordinated media saturation coverage of the coronation and what happened when the queen died, the unquestioning deference etc are all part of keeping us in our places. We are quite infantile in many respects as a populace. I suspect that is the view from outside. Agreed, I'm fully supportive of why the French are protesting. As you say, we'd bend over and take it. I'm fairly certain I'll be picked up on my last day of work by hearse.

We're on the world stage. Countless heads of state are there, it's a huge deal. What part of the global audience wants to see some protesters? Nobody is stopping them from gathering and protesting. They still get to have their little demonstration and will love the attention and opportunity to complain about the injustice of it all. I'd be more worried that new laws mean the police can arrest anybody who has anything that looks like they can use it to attach themselves to something. People who would prefer some semblance of genuine reporting of what took place on the day, the good, the bad and the ugly, so to speak, instead of a nice airbrushed 1984-esque version of events? From what I can see they are very much being stopped from lawfully exercising their right to protest, aren't they? With no apparent reasons given. So, in 2023, we live in a country where the police can arrest you basically because you're wearing the colour yellow and the establishment has decided you might take the shine off their special day. It would make the country look a better place if they were allowed to express their dissent peacefully, and it was reported as a small crowd who did so amongst millions who wanted to celebrate. A lot more mature way of dealing with it. What are your thoughts on the recent trouble in Paris, Red? The police certainly aren't messing around there.

Just think, we could be “crowning” President Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson today. Or President Anthony Charles Lynton Blair. Thankfully we don’t let the idiots vote for our symbolic and powerless head of state. What makes the UK special in the world? The English language and our historic monarchy. Nothing else. Why take away one of the only two things that sets us out as different to anywhere else? The English language doesn't make the UK special - there are quite a few countries that have it as their first language. We also aren't the only country with a monarchy. Those two things do have something in common - they are things from a distant past. The reason the UK isn't special at anything else is because it's an insular, backward looking nation that doesn't want to innovate or engage with the rest of the world. If we bothered to learn another language and got rid of the pseudo religious, medieval, subservient bullshit of a monarchy we might actually get our arses in gear and do something special rather than feed off now irrelevant past glories. For a relatively small group of islands we've achieved a lot on the world stage (culturally too, I'm not just on about the Empire). London is one of the world's great cities and people visit this country for a myriad of reasons

Ever had one put in against you? What happened? What was the background story? I've had my first ever work complaint today from some absolute unhinged weapon. Background I work in IT so I tend to deal with all things IT related. Get a random email from a hotmail account asking me to set them up with a domain account so they can access x, y and z. Had a slight back and forth and another staff member from the site confirmed they work in production and don't work on the computers. So I decided to forward the email through to HR as they tend to deal with onboarding accounts and we have it all setup as a fully automated process. Plus to create a new account usually comes at a cost as depending on what services they wish to access will require certain licenses and such. So I forward this through to HR advising I've had this email from someone who claims to work in production in x factory and they want an account to do x, y and z and if they could possibly set this up if they approve of it or if we need to setup guest access or something from their personal account then we can do this also. This was a few days back. Said user has then contact me today chasing this up and saying stuff like "do i need to escalate this to a higher level as this "easy task"" hasn't been completed. And just being rude as if he's some billy big balls. So being nice I kindly reply within 30 minutes explaining that new users are usually onboarded by HR or their line manager and I don't generally receive emails from random hotmail accounts asking me to set them up, and that a process needs to be followed because they could be anyone or it could be a phishing attempt. I even included the email I sent to HR as an attachment for full transparency because I wanted him to know I'm not just fobbing him off and that I've actioned this the day he raised it. So then he replies to this kicking off because I referred to him as a "production user" in my email to HR and apparently that's discriminatory and all this other bollocks. In IT everyone is a "user" and we refer to them by location or department. Then he kicks off again after this because I called him by the name on his email. So for example his emails are coming from Bob Smith (BobSmith@hotmail.com) and I said "Hey Bob" in my email. And because I called him by this name it is personally offensive because he has never given me permission to call him this and only his close family and friends can call him by his name In my head I'm like this in my head at this stage.. your email address and display name both use this "name". If you don't want to be called it maybe don't setup your email with that. Oh and I'm also terribly unprofessional, have an ego, have caused him great upset and he is now complaining about me. Oh and he wants his email deleted from the system too Like what an absolute unhinged rocket. I actually phoned up one of the marketing girls in the office he works in after this saga because I have a very good relationship with the site and get on really well with all their staff. Found out apparently he has a reputation for kicking off and complaining and that they're always playing the victim and throwing their toys out of their pram as if they're hard done by. So I did him a favour by forwarding his emails on to HR and raising it directly with them on his behalf as well as including all correspondence so that they can begin their complaint procedure on myself. Mad man! Also, he's clearly far left. Good thing you didn't refer to his gender, as it's probably neutral. Though you'll likely get sacked for racism in any case. Sounds like one of those fannies who puts (he/him) after his name.

Early days but you can only hope that this translates next year into removing the corrupt incompetents from national power too. I would not be surprised if, come the GE, many voters felt that they'd given the Tories a kicking last year and that was enough. Starmer needs to get that message across if Labour does well today. Especially when the inevitable tax voting bribes from the Tories start happening. The best thing that could happen to the country and to the Tory Party is ten years out of power, a complete re-evaluation and evisceration of the nasty characters that make up so much of the parliamentary party. No more of the likes of Braverman, Patel, Rees-Mogg, Gullis, Benton, Dorries, Duncan-Smith, Gove, Zahawi, Paterson etc etc. (I'm aware some of those are stepping down). We might then get a more sensible, less extreme, less unpleasant Conservative Party. 1000 years out of power more like! What type of person votes tory these days? Racists, and those who get all upset over definitions of women. Nobody else could possibly vote for them. Ruined every public service. Ruined our reputation in the world. Ruined our economy. High tax, high inflation, low wage growth. What do they stand for other than talking tough and being ineffective at keeping asylum seekers out!? I thought you'd be happy with the ineffective over asylum seekers angle? Surprised you picked that as a negative
