The audible foul language from the guy who must be sat right by the commentators is hilarious at Kenilworth Road🤣 How many apologies will we get from the commentators? I'll open the book at over/under 3.5, give you 5/6?

Mowbray looks like one of those photos they put in SOT Live when they have a rogues' gallery of dust heads. In fact, if he lived in Century Street he'd have the face of a 30 year old.

An anti-capitalist café in Toronto where patrons would pay what they can has shut down after a year in business after failing to make enough money.
Owners of The Anarchist, which opened in March 2022 and had been described as an 'anti-capitalist, anti-colonial cafe, shop and radical community space on stolen land,' said the coffee shop will close its doors on May 30.
'Unfortunately, the lack of generational wealth/seed capital from ethically bankrupt sources left me unable to weather the quiet winter season, or to grow in the ways needed to be sustainable longer-term,' owner Gabriel Sims-Fewer wrote.
Sims-Fewer ended his announcement to patrons by writing: 'F*** the rich. F*** the police. F*** the state. F*** the colonial death camp we call 'Canada.'' Good, seems like a hateful individual. Hope he didn't waste all of his trust fund with the failed venture

On a different tack we are fortunate enough to be on a break in the Basque Country at the moment. Like on trips last year to France and Italy we have noticed how compared to the UK there is a significant lack of potholes and litter on roads, just saying. Thinking of going there next year, never been to that part but the cuisine looks amazing. I try and speak Spanish as much I can over there but do they speak it in the Basque region? I'm not even going to try and learn Basque as it's one of the hardest languages apparently

McClean who was our fans player of the year? Lots of mistakes were made but signing McClean was way down the list. McClean being the fans player of the year, went to show just how bad we really were!!! The only reason he won it was because he was the only one through the entire team who looked like he put a bit of effort in, it certainly wasn't down to his football ability, because he was as bad as the rest!!! Stokies love a grafter

That's the key, getting the right manager in, who knows his way round the transfer market!!! It's easy to say in hindsight now, but I can honestly say, I was never a fan of Rowett and didn't want him here the first place.... And to make matters worse, he was hell bent on bringing in McClean.... McClean for God's sake, when you're making signings like that, you ain't going anywhere fast!!! McClean who was our fans player of the year? Lots of mistakes were made but signing McClean was way down the list. That was a low bar

Based on the difference he made in the few games he played, if we think his health is manageable so that he could play over ten games, he's worth it. He would boss it in defence in the big games What if he was injured for those big games?

Not sure the comparison stacks up- in the last seven years Leicester have achieved more than Stoke have in 150+ years of competitive football and they have foreign ownership to thank for that. As such, how they are perceived as a club has changed forever. Southampton are probably our closest for comparison.
Looks like the owners have lost interest there though and have switched the tap off, and Smith was a Lambertesque appointment that basically says 'we've given up'.

I see him as 60/40 60 percent chance he’ll be a success for us, playing regularly 40 percent chance he’ll be a failure for us, hardly playing for two years and retiring early With our luck with injuries what can go wrong?

In hindsight, our ability to scout absolute gems from the continent in the early 2000s was seriously impressive. I don't think it's a stretch at all to say pound for pound that scouting system absolute blows our current one away for hits on good players. Even more so in an era preceding big data and analytics. Hardly surprising given that the current set up thinks that the Channel Islands are overseas

They are better. The league table tells you they are better, in fact, they're far better. They are more effective and consistent than us but not necessarily better. Playing at our best we are better than any other Championship team but we can't do that for a prolonged run of games and can't find a way of winning when we are not at our best. I am praying for Luton preferably or Coventry to go up. We can't play against their levels of organisation and method of play. May sound a bit like Mowbray but I'd much rather have the teams who play like Sunderland and Middlesbrough rather than ones that rely on one player up front and sitting back like Coventry or teams like Luton who physically bully the opposition. The games are generally better and we are more likely to get a result if the opposition want the ball as much as we do. If we're as good as you make out surely we should be able to outfox any side regardless of how they set up? Seems an odd statement to make considering the best side in the division lost just three times all season and had ways of breaching packed defences.

Isn't he the one with the horror tackle the season before last? Thought he looked good at times a couple of years back and I'm sure he scored quite a few in the Championship, but didn't he go on loan to League One last year? Wouldn't be a thrilling piece of business but, again, if we need squad players then you could potentially see it, especially as a wide forward/winger. Well he won't be getting away with such tackles in a Stoke shirt

i really want everton to go down. I hold no grudges against them or their fans, i just want to see what would happen to a genuinely 'big' team in the championship with massive financial implications. Aston Villa were down here not long ago.

Apparently so. avftt.co.uk/index.php?threads/chris-badlan-gone.42051/Doesn't seem the most heinous crime in the world. But maybe looking for an excuse to get rid? Their local journo says it was clear he "wasn't the right fit" - whatever that means. Interesting to note, though, that he brought Josh Bowler in at Blackpool in January. Sounds like a bit of a lad doesn't he. One of the reasons he was sacked was because said something about club legend Jimmy Armfield. Once he starts being derogatory about club legends like George Berry he'll be gone.

Our aggregate scores this season against the 4 playoff teams: Stoke 2 Luton 1 Stoke 4 Coventry 2 Stoke 3 Middlesbrough 3 Stoke 5 Sunderland 2 Overall: Stoke 14 playoff teams 8. I can't help but feel that they all finished above us NOT because they are better; but because they wanted it more. No, they're better. When's the last time we had a player who hit 20+ goals in a season, Peter Thorne nearly 20 years ago. You get funny results during a season but the table after 46 games can't lie. During the 92/93 season Bradford beat us 'on aggregate', it means absolutely nothing

Ambition starts at the very top & thats were the problem lies with Jon Coates in control. Please don't turn this into a Coates bashing one. There are plenty of threads where you can do that and it has been done to death. I read about Southampton's demise yesterday and it echoed so many things that have happened to Stoke - 11 years at the top, treading water for the last two years, slipping standards, poor recruitment, lack of unity and togetherness. Yet they had new owners in January 22 so that isn't the answer. Southampton's next managerial appointment will probably be more progressive than anything we'd consider

Is this correct? 1. Team #1 automatic promotion, Wrexham. 2. Team #2 meets the winner in team #4-team#7 play off games. 3. Team #3 meets the winner in the team #5-team #6 play off games. 4. The winners in 2. and 3. just mentioned meets in a match to decide who will follow Wrexham. I think that's correct Not sure if it still applies but I think they used a similar set up for RL Super League play offs. It's giving an advantage to the team finishing higher which seems fair enough
