Watching them this season there are so many similarities with our relegation season.
No real hint of trouble in previous seasons Lazy signings, failure to replace leaders Purple patch in November keeping the manager in his job for too long Lambert = Smith Maddison = Shaqiri Awful defence and getting walloped everywhere Even the owners are a family who’ve achieved massive success before
Wonder if their debut in the championship will be as bad

Yeah I was thinking the same earlier. The rapid decline is there for all to see & from the outside looking in looks to be totally preventable.
I suppose the only and main difference being between Leicester & Stoke is that at least if they drop they'll have won a Premier League title & FA Cup to show for their Premier League journey. Although not sure if that kind of makes their fall from grace even more spectacular than our own demise due to what they'd achieved.
I can't say I'll be sorry to see Leicester relegated though.
*Lineker,
* Our Play Off Defeat under Macari that still hurts this day
& *They were so spawny to essentially break the rules and escape any suitable punishment for their crimes & go on to be a Premier League Club.

Well I'm ready, if anyone else is - let's get that whole "Winning the Premier League" part of that "parallel journey" sorted straight away.
But I'd just as soon not mimic the following story where they lost their owner like that. Talk about ups and downs.

A poignant similarity is the fate of Robert Huth who played for both clubs. He was a huge part of Stoke's relative success in a partnership with Shawcross under Pulis. But when Hughes came in Huth's career took a down turn and eventually he moved on on a nominal fee. His partner, Shawcross' career never again reached the levels he'd had while Huth was there. Other players of that era also left or retired.
Huth then came to Leicester, helped them avoid relegation and became a key player in their league triumph. But Raniere was soon on his way, and Huth was too, as were several other members of that championship winning side. They never really replaced him, although they have brought in a huge amount of central defenders, none of which have been good.
There's even a Wimmer-like similarity, Wimmer of course only playing a handful of matches for us despite a vast transfer fee. Brendan Rogers signed Vestergard from So'ton for a big fee, but the player has hardly featured under Rogers, and at one time, just before the manager's sacking, entered a one man bomb squad (he's now back in training, but then got injured).

Maybe, but not sure I’d put my money on Stoke going back up before them if they do indeed come down.

Not strictly true that they never replaced Huth is it, they sold Fofana for big money to Chelsea after two very good seasons for them, Jonny Evans who has been excellent but has just become old and injured, Soyuncu has been a beast but has also suffered with injuries in his latter Leicester career and Harry Maguire moved to Man Utd for £80m. If anything it's the fact they've struggled to replace these four, more than they've struggled to replace Huth.

Not sure the comparison stacks up- in the last seven years Leicester have achieved more than Stoke have in 150+ years of competitive football and they have foreign ownership to thank for that. As such, how they are perceived as a club has changed forever. Southampton are probably our closest for comparison.
Looks like the owners have lost interest there though and have switched the tap off, and Smith was a Lambertesque appointment that basically says 'we've given up'.

That's the key, getting the right manager in who knows his way round the transfer market!!! It's easy to say in hindsight now, but I can honestly say, I was never a fan of Rowett and didn't want him here the first place.... And to make matters worse, he was hell bent on bringing in McClean.... McClean for God's sake, when you're making signings like that, you ain't going anywhere fast!!!

To be honest, Leicester , Leeds and Southampton all look very poor sides; and Everton and Forest not much better. Burnley will survive no problem, and the other two who go up will certainly think we can match Everton and Forest - both of whom will be cash strapped. We certainly made the wrong decisions 5 years ago.

Rodgers spent big over the last few years and as well as bringing in some very good players he also brought in some dross. The owners haven't lost interest, they were in danger of falling foul of FFP because they let Rodgers loose with their money. It was Rodgers who lost interest - he's spent most of the season waiting for a pay off and his next job because Leicester could no longer afford his ambitions. Most of their better players will either leave (Maddison, Tielemans) or are past it (Vardy, Evans) and the rest aren't that good. If they try to do what we did - assume there is a good core and build on it - they could well struggle and end up where we are. To go straight back they may have to take the high risk approach Burnley took - gut and rebuild with the best players they can attract over the summer and reduce the wage bill in case it doesn't work. They also need to make the right appointment and it doesn't look like Dean Smith who has ended up looking like their Lambert.

If anything it's the fact they've struggled to replace these four, more than they've struggled to replace Huth. Oh I think so. The fact that Fofana went for big money doesn't prove anything other than Chelsea has lots of money. It's similar with Maguire, he came and went fast. It's definitely been proved now he is a poor modern defender. He can head the ball but little else. Johnny Evans, he's like a defenders version of you know who, always injuried, and the same could be said of Soyuncu. None of them replaced the value andd consistency that Huth brought to his 1½ good season there.

I think Southampton are the new Stoke. Everything Ward Prowse talked about being wrong with them is a mirror image of Stoke - complacency - warning signs ignored for two years, poor recruitment, slipping standards throughout the club, a lack of morale and togetherness again not just in the team but throughout the club.

Leicester won't do what we did, they won't appoint Gary Rowett and sign a load of utter shit. They'll be straight back up. So will Southampton.
I was hoping leeds and everton and Forest would come down as all three have massive questions over finance and would have been in huge trouble
