If he's 100 per cent truthful yes How could he possibly lie about it? They'd have to provide some sort of certification to the league to prove they've got Covid. Shirley.

Boxing Day game looks pretty much nailed-on to be off then?

Boxing Day game looks pretty much nailed-on to be off then? Yes it's off for certain. I wonder though if the authorities will have wound up the Premier League and the Championship before Boxing day anyway or at least move to 'closed doors'. 50,000 people mask'less people frothing at the mouth and rammed in to stadia like sardines is going to look increasingly incongruous as we are told to work from home and minimise social contact as far as possible. Try as I might I just can't see anyway on this earth that this is going to be allowed to continue. The game will shortly be well and truly up.

Boxing Day game looks pretty much nailed-on to be off then? You'd have to think so wouldn't you? I take it any conversations with the EFL will revolve around fairness in terms of being able to train up to that point?

Only my opinion probably wide of the mark but some clubs could ' engineer ' the situation depending on what proof is needed. My Vale mate says they have 5 forwards out, their main midfielder out and a defender was sent off last week. Convenient postponement for them.

We have gone all season with no cancellations then in one week all hell breaks loose,I wonder if the annual footballers Christmas parties have had anything to do with it.

The only sensible option ,though not ideal ,is to shut down for a month then see where we are it.
I wouldn't like us to have to play against Derby on 30th with 9 players just out of isolation and not able to train for 10 days, and that's not even taking into account if any of them actually feel ill.

It sounds like Derby will be in a similar situation as well so they won’t be pushing to play.

Sounds like we have requested the Barnsley match be postponed to give fans plenty of notice to make other plans but the league have not agreed it yet although we think they will.

If we stay clear of new injuries and suspensions... I know we appear cursed at the minute but I don't think even we could incur injuries when not playing or training. Unless all our players let their dogs sleep on the stairs. Have you never heard of players that drop kitchen knives on their feet, have back trouble because they did it in the sofa, sneezed so violently they strained their ligaments etc etc.?

FM posted an interesting article on the transfer thread about PL clubs being reluctant to loan players because of this so they have squad numbers. I wonder if we might (or are able) to recall Taylor
I think for now the balance would be to keep him there. If the squad have had it now then you’d hope it would limit the future likelihood of it being an issue.

I suspect there’ll be studying the rule book carefully suspect there’ll say one thing but do another .. clubs send their players out on loan for a number of reasons , bottom line being they believe they’d currently weaken their own first team if played there ( in the case of young players learning their trade that’s understandable ) So to hold on to players then be forced to use them , thereby weakening their team , when if the rule book allows they can farm them out and have a fixture postponed .. and replayed when closer to full strength would seem more likely ..clubs keeping an eye on fixture pile up an obvious part of the equation however Interesting times ahead

I remember getting to Burnley on New Years Day not too long back and the game was called off and this after not drinking much New Years Eve because of driving the next morning🙄😄

Also in about 1987 i was at a wedding in Burnley and Stoke were playing at Blackburn, the wife and i said we were just going for an admin break - raced across (no alcohol) to Blackburn thought its very quiet about 2:15 to find it had been postponed a waterlogged pitch- story goes Rovers had 7 players out and hosed down the wing in front of the stand and local ref called it off - Rovers fans knew on Friday the game was going to be off - the days of old tricks.

Didn’t the FA say if you have 14 fit players and a goalie your playing?
Or was that 14 including a goalie?
Or are Sky, The FA, The EPL just making it up as they go along?
Was thinking of doing an Oatcake Christmas quiz for fun. Maybe I should have left this as a question in there?

In addition to players Clubs also appear to including other members of the matchday team as reasons why games can’t go ahead ..ie members of their medical / physio staff
