John Ritchie v The Shite (we lost at home 2-1 Sept 1964)
Just remember the players looked HUGE to an 8 year old standing at the bottom of the Stoke end looking up at the pitch...probably surrounded by Man U fans but I wouldn't have been aware of that

Jimmy McIlroy at home v Spurs - we won 2-1 in August 1963. Just checked Wiki and it was our first game following promotion and was watched by a crowd of 40,017 !

The earliest game I can remember going to was a pretty heavy away defeat to Gillingham, which after a bit of research must have been the 3-1 in 2003 as I can remember Ed de Goey playing in goal for us, and Mama scoring for them.
John Eustace scored for us although I can't remember the goal at all.
Horrible first game. Priestfield, November, 3-1 loss. Shit day out for a 12 year old.

I’m pretty sure my 1st ever Stoke live game was Derby 0 Stoke 3 in Feb 73 at the Baseball Ground a month before my 10th birthday sat with my Grandad in the Osmaston End.Having been devastated when my hero Gordon Banks crashed his car 3 and a half months earlier I’m pretty sure John Mahoney got the 1st in that 3-0 win

Gerry Daly.
I had to look that up. Must confess I've never heard of him. I was only five and this was his only goal in his only season I believe.
My most vivid memories from the day are George Berry and stamping my feet on Butler Street's wooden floor.

Not the first goalI saw, that was in the Late 70’s v West Ham but my first proper memory of goals is Paul Maguire’s 4 v Wolves. Poddy the ex grounds man took me and we celebrated staying up at the Jubilee WMC after. The start of a lifetime of suffering and oppression, why did I celebrate?

Not sure, but I'm sure one of our elder statesmen on here will tell me....
My first ever Stoke game was a 3-0 home win against West Brom when I was around 9 or 10 years old, so around 1982

Dave Bamber, at home to Oldham on my 5th birthday
My first Stoke hero - it was disappointing to discover years later that he's generally regarded as being crap

Back on track John Ritchie the first of Stoke's 5 goals Stoke v Arsenal Sept 70.
