Ok. So my first Stoke games were in 1984 (what a time to start supporting hey 🙄!). But we sadly & unsurprisingly looking back now failed to score in any of my early matches & lost most of them so the first goal I do recall seeing live was on 8th October 85, a midweek fixture when Stoke beat Wrexham 1-0 at the Vic in a League Cup 2nd leg fixture to win the tie 2-0 on aggregate. For the life of me I can't recall who scored our goal that night (was probably so suprised & emotional that we'd scored!)?! Abit of research has failed to reveal the scorer too, although I do know the team sheets as still got the programme. Recall Mike Hooper playing in goals for Wrexham not to long before he transferred to Liverpool. Anyone else remember this fixture & who scored our goal that night, you'll be naming who scored my first live goal if you can 🤣?! 🤞🏻 it wasn't an OG! I remember this game mate Keith Bertschin scored,he also scored the goal at Wrexham

There was a time in my mid-20s where I still remembered the score of every Stoke match I'd been to (averaging around 5 a season), but I hardly remember the most recent match I went to in the past few years, never mind the score.
My first match was 0-0 in 1995, but these days the first goal I remember is Graham Kavanagh's in the Auto Windscreens Final in 2000. I'll have to hunt down any old ticket stubs I can find.
I remember a 4-0 win in a pre-season friendly against Newcastle Town one season, so if friendlies count, it could be someone pretty obscure.

Interesting thread. Mine was Jackie Mudie v Portsmouth. Stoke won 3-1 in November 1962. I was only 4 so my dad took me before the end and I missed the third goal. The second and third were both by Dennis Violet Mudie was mine also, which comes as a surprise to me as I thought and have often told anyone who would listen (plus many who wouldn't) it was Sir Stanley Matthews in the 2-0 v Luton to seal the championship in '63. So when we have who scored the second ever live Stoke goal I win I saw that Matthews goal as I was sitting in the Butler Street stand that day. It was his only goal that season and a really great moment!

Couldn't say for sure but the earliest I remember is Peter Beagrie Glad it’s not just me, I don’t get how people remember these things so clearly. tbf my first live Stoke goal I probably didn’t even know we’d scored never mind who scored it. My old man said I spent most of my time mucking about under the seats.

Not sure, but I'm sure one of our elder statesmen on here will tell me.... My first ever Stoke game was a 3-0 home win against West Brom when I was around 9 or 10 years old, so around 1982 Was that the game that sent Leeds down. If it was I was there as a 16 year old sure it was a night game

Having seen the team sheet again Bertsch was a strong candidate for being the goalscorer. Cheers for identifying my first live goalscorer 👍🏻👌🏻🙌🏻

I honestly can't remember for sure. This thunder bastard would have been very close to being the first though. That was mine too. I was sitting in the Stoke End stand with my Dad aged 5 with a perfect view.

Peter Thorne at the Boothen End v. Rotherham 20 years ago, Stoke supporter from age of 11 when I first saw Terry Conroy weave his magic. I was meant to travel over from Ireland previous yr but Foot and Mouth put paid to that. Forever grateful to Pete Martin for showing me around and even got to meet the great TC. Thorne would put today's strikers to shame and that's not being nostalgic, he was a great finisher, think Andy Cooke was up front with him then and Bjarni put the crosses in...wonderful memories.

Me and mate got train from Wakefield to game then train back to Manchester then found out there was no more trains to wakey till morning. Walked round Manchester with our scarfs on and 3 lads came upto us and asked us if we had been to game n my mate said yeh and main thing is Leeds got relegated and one of the lads pulled his collar bag to show a Leeds badge. Fucking shit myself but what a day.

Terry Conroy against Spurs - I think in'69, Dad had taken me so I could see Greavsie play.
Embarrassingly funny, but for God knows how many games, I'd misheard the crowd and thought his name was Cherry Conroy (perhaps it war his red hair and I was only 7 tbf), so always remember "Cherry Conroy on the wing"...

January 1st 1994 Foley, followed shortly after with Örlygsson Stoke City 2 Derby County 1 At the age of 9, can't remember much of the game, but I was severely disappointed when my uncle said he would be back shortly as he was nipping for an oatcake, thinking lovely I'm starving, I got a bloody booklet

Its a shame that there is no TV footage on youtube of a lot of those games in the 80s. Id love to see highlights of some of my earliest matches such as the 2-0 against Liverpool in 84 and the 4-2 atOldham in 85.
