Denis Smith 28th February 1970. 2 all draw at home with The Shit. Harry Burrows scored the other. I sat on the wooden seats in the Butler Street Stand with my dad and his mate. It was my 9th birthday present. Seems like yesterday.

Daniele Tiatto His one and only goal while on loan in a 2-1 defeat to Huddersfield in March ‘98. Glamorous beginnings I know Didn't he score a last minute equaliser at Wolves? Someone did, thought it was him? Under Kamara?Wasnt that Dean Crowe?

My misses has been roughly 10 games and never seen us score, hence why she's banned from going now 😃

I had a train to catch, celebrated the goal then ran out of the ground for the train , didn't fancy walking around Wolverhampton all night. Neville Southall pulled off an absolutely world class save that night which was in sharp contrast to his otherwise past it performances. Apparently Nev was a fantastic bloke but he'd 'gone'.

Chris Greenacre in a 1-0 home win against Brighton, March 03. Think it was one of those £5 a ticket special nights. Begged my old man to take me.

Bloody hell I’d forgot about that Southall save😮The fans celebrated at the end like we’d won to be honest with Kamara coming over also

Gerry Daly. I had to look that up. Must confess I've never heard of him. I was only five and this was his only goal in his only season I believe. My most vivid memories from the day are George Berry and stamping my feet on Butler Street's wooden floor. Played for Man U and Ireland. Tidy player but quiet for us John Tudor for me but can't remember as about 5

Ooh Georgie Berry. Diving header at home to Arsenal first game of the 82/83 season. More memorable for the reception Lee Chapman received and the extra a***hole Kenny Samson left with after Chambo tore him a new one... I think some of us forget how good Chambo was.

Just had a look mate and we beat WBA 3-0 on the 20th May 82(last day of the season) and Dave Watson scored the 1st It was a night match so not sure if I'm getting confused. It was indeed a night match and one of my "hair rasing" memorable moments was Smithy in a crunching tackle and the whole ground erupted in celebration, admiration and respect.

It was a night match so not sure if I'm getting confused. Was this the game that relegated Leeds and a load of Leeds were supposed to be turning up? If it’s that same game it was like a friendly and West Brom barely tried. We needed the win to stay up and relegate Leeds. A short while later my sister in law started going out with a Stoke player who had played in that game ( who will remain nameless for obvious reasons) who told me, over Sunday dinner at the in laws, that the West Brom players had agreed, prior to that game, to go easy. Apparently Leeds had been to the Baggies a couple of weeks earlier and trashed the place so they wanted us to stay up rather than them. Don’t know how true that is but he had no need to make it up. I was awestruck enough having Sunday dinner with him in the first place without him making stuff up.

just checked on wiki too,,,it was jimmy adam in the 1-0 home win against pne.the next match was the return of stan against hudersfield.35000 crowd,,its interesting to see the gate figures for home and away that season,,norwich away 31000,liverpool away 41000,orient away 21000,,,waddo got it spot on as home attendances improved and enabled the club to survive and invest in some quality players ,viollet, mcilroy, clamp and stuart etc. ,,,,pity the current incumbents dont seem to be able to figure it out.

Zay Angola or Jose Andrade I'm not sure 😂
Vs Real Sociedad in a pre season game at the Vic. Good finish, then never saw him again after that day. I thought he was going to be good for us as well, shame he broke his leg.

Ok. So my first Stoke games were in 1984 (what a time to start supporting hey 🙄!). But we sadly & unsurprisingly looking back now failed to score in any of my early matches & lost most of them so the first goal I do recall seeing live was on 8th October 85, a midweek fixture when Stoke beat Wrexham 1-0 at the Vic in a League Cup 2nd leg fixture to win the tie 2-0 on aggregate. For the life of me I can't recall who scored our goal that night (was probably so suprised & emotional that we'd scored!)?! Abit of research has failed to reveal the scorer too, although I do know the team sheets as still got the programme. Recall Mike Hooper playing in goals for Wrexham not to long before he transferred to Liverpool. Anyone else remember this fixture & who scored our goal that night, you'll be naming who scored my first live goal if you can 🤣?! 🤞🏻 it wasn't an OG!

1st live goal was the reserves v Manure end of the 59/60 season, won 5-3? and I think Frank Bowyer scored his last goals for the club. 1st team won at Bristol City to stay up in the then 2nd division.
Next season saw the 1st team beat Sheffield Utd 2-0, fairly certain Dennis Wilshaw scored both. My brother took me, caught the train from Silverdale.

Roy Vernon. December 1965 in a foggy 3-2 home win against Fulham. I was at the back of the Boothen End and you couldn't see the Stoke End goal.
