Why are people so bitter towards Hughes? We played some of the best football I’ve seen and some of the players he got join, were amazing. You should be venting your anger elsewhere. My general feeling towards Hughes is meh, thanks for the memories. He's a smug bugger, who never learns from his mistakes though, and because I'm still bitter about relegation I want him to fail and relegate Southampton. That being said I want 2 thirds of the premier league to get relegated My general feeling is that Hughes wanted to go as far as he could possibly go with Stoke. Some smug twat held him back.

Southampton need to sack the charlatan before it's too late for them. I'd prefer if they kept him in charge just so he can finally and deservedly get relegated however.

Hilarious. Some slating Hughes, some slating the Technical Director and Chairman. What a familiar sight that is.

Hughes' players (top of the tree being Bojan/Arnie/Shaq) what made the team good rather than scraping out of a relegation battle. Including: Wingie Assaidi first season Ireland in bits BMI Diouf Moses All contributed to the team pushing up from being the sack of shite they were the year before. Tony Pulis has fuck all to do with Hughes doing well for us. End Conversation.

Ahh. This has made me smile.
"All pre-season was effectively wasted by playing 3 centre backs, a system which was dropped 70 mins into the first game. He seems to have no plan of action, no system awareness, no tactical nous, baffling selections and substitutions. Will give him a few more games in the hope he can change things around though"
Sound familiar?
Hahaha!

Blimey In fairness to Southampton, they won't ponce around whilst the empire burns as we fatally did. I'm really surprised they took him on full time. He had a piss easy task of keeping their squad up.

"Whether Hughes stays or goes, matters little as they would only replace him with the next person out of a job. Now or in the summer." Lambert anyone???

Does this ‘doing well’ include relegation from the Premier League and leaving us with a 100 million pounds worth of unusable players? Hughes added a bit of flair to a solid base and for it while it looked like progress. Behind the scenes his incompetence hollowed out our club. The cost of his negligence (and others) has yet to be fully assessed. He’ll probably do ok for a while at Saints once the lack of pre-season training wears off. But he’s still got to buy players at some point and he’ll be sacked before relegation (again).

Southamptons inevitable demise under this joyless arrogant cocks stewardship is the only premier league aspect I am paying any attention to. Hopefully his sidekick, Bowen and his set of rotten young coaches who, were taking the mickey when we were on our arses will sink without trace with him too.

For 2.5/3 seasons he was excellent. for the remaining 18 months/2 years he shit himself and was an awful, petrified mess. The latter doesn't make the former any less true.

Toxic Tone said he will be fine while he’s playing with my squad, wait til he starts buying his own players Fuck me he was right Some people have short memories. TP left us with no decent FBs. He meant to bring in Pieters before he left, but didn't due to a self-inflicted injury. Pieters was the first signing under MH's stewardship, and followed by Bardsley and Johnson. All 3 FBs served us well for a period, but Hughes (or transfer team) were too slow to replace them when they got past their "sell-by" date. TP's squad was a "relegation form" squad for the last half season he was manager. MH started with building from the back with the above signings plus Muni, then moved on to Bojan and Arni and got Whelan and N'Zonzi playing better than they ever had under TP. We achieved 3 x 9th places (sorry but it is true). But then the improvement stopped because we never bought a decent striker and got obsessed with buying box to box MFs and all the older players started showing their age. When we couldn't sign a player, we took loaned players who are "only here for the beer".

That thread is beautiful. Fair play to them. It's taken them far less to uncover that he's a complete fraud. I don't expect he'll relegate them (or get the chance to) this season. But The longer he's there, the longer the rust starts to spread. As an outsider, I can't wait to watch him burn another club to the ground.

Lesley Mark Hughes was great at adding a bit of flair. He was fucking usless when it came to replacing the spine. N’Zonzi, Whelan, Huth all left under his ‘management’ and £50m later we’re 10x worse for it. He’s awful

Southampton fans need not worry, a Mark Hughes team always has a better second half to the season 😁. Thank fuck he left.
Give him a good couple of summers and he'll do the same to them
