I know someone who works for Bet365, he can confirm she is very bossy, not someone you want to disturb when working or you'll face her wrath So....very wealthy, but an arsehole. Yeah basically I think he hinted to the point where even crossing on the stairs saying good morning or whatever received no response. Which I find incredibly rude and a complete lack of respect for working staff.

One can still conduct themselves appropriately. It's not the Victorian times (or is it??). She sounds like a real creature. And I've heard similar stories before.

I had a boss like that once, said Good Morning to him one day and he blanked me, next time I saw him same thing happened so for three months we pretty much blanked each other and then one day, totally out of the blue he was really friendly again. Fucking weirdo.

Everyone else, banter, laughs, talk to them. Me though, she was sarcastic, rude, shouted, wanting 7 bastard things done at once. I was literally in the same place as everyone else there, why single me out? Was quite a cliquey place to work though

I don't think so He went to her office once to fix a computer issue, asked what the issue was with it and all she said to him was 'shut up'. He guessed the problem, fixed it and went. It's rude.

I see that in The Guardian Comment page today, under the header of Beyond the dreams of avarice, Denise is roundly panned . It does make astonishing reading and surely beyond tthe comprehension of all who try to digest it.
It seems a pity that her generous sponsorships, the business’s honesty in seemingly refusing to join the tax dodgers so prevalent today and her indisputable hard work - which ironically must prevent her from having the time to spend even a fraction of it - have been at least temporarily submerged.

A good example of why feminism is horse shit. How the fook have you jumped to that conclusion? Your bubble is very small in your world view of life innit? I'd say 3" from your forehead to the keyboard. I suppose things such as racism and sexism are boring and non existing in your world too.. She gets paid millions, no such need for feminism. Yanks voted Obama, racism is over! PLANK!

For whatever my opinion is worth, I'm proud of her. She earns more than those gangster looking guys you see in in the movies running Vegas. Legally. And where were the Coates family in the Paradise Papers leaks? Even Her Majesty was dodging...Fair play lads. It is..!
1200 employees is it? Prolly better than JCB for upward mobility as well...
I think its brilliant what she managed to create.
I think I saw 50 cent in his thread. That guy sold Crack but hangs with Oprah..Get a grip

It really is a pity. Yes, she paid herself 200 million, which is clearly a ridiculous amount of money, but half of that immediately went into paying income tax and NI. So she basically paid herself 100 million and gave a 100 million pound boost to the economy. As someone else mentioned Taylor Swift also earned over 100 million last year and no one is clutching their pearls over that. I've absolutely no doubt Denise could have easily dodged those tax payments if she wanted to but she chose to go the honest route and pay her dues. These Guardian commentators can cry all they want about the evils of gambling... whilst sipping on a nice glass of wine I'm sure. Hypocrites.

Fucking weirdo. I had the opposite problem. I'd only been at my first proper job for a couple of months or so and early one morning (around 0600) I got chatting with one of the cleaners who I hadn't met before, by the coffee machine. We had a great laugh I bought us both a coffee and had a good natured whinge about about certain aspects of the job, she joined in and we both swore like troopers before heading our separate ways. A few hours later my manager comes to grab me to introduce me to the Director of European Operations. Apparently my new friend had made a meteoric rise from cleaner to exec in about four hours

That's correct, which makes it even more commendable that she took a salary rather than dividends. She actually chose the option that meant she paid the most to the government.

I do think it's admirable that they seem to pay their fair proportion of tax when the majority of big corporates spend vast sums on concocting tax avoidance schemes

Generally, although successful business people tend to have the capability to be brutal they also tend to be highly skilled socially. When someone running a big company is under immense pressure they’re going to come across as rude and unfriendly some of the time at least. It’s unavoidable.

Grossly obscene that someone needs to pay themselves £200m in one year. How much does she pay her staff I wonder, you know the ones who do the actual work!

There will be plenty of Stokies on this board who know exactly what she pays her staff - they only have to look at their pay slips! And, of course, others of her staff earn £millions - the ones who wear red and white stripes in their work place.

I was contracting there and Bet365 have this extreme policy of allowing only one person through a door at a time and you open it with your swipe card. You HAVE to shut the door in people's faces or face a disciplinary. People simply avoided being in front of Denise Coates as you didn't want to be the one who shut the door in her face. That was the rule you would have to do but imagine doing that! Rock and a hard place.

She actually chose the option that meant she paid the most to the government. The story I read said it was 200m in pay and dividends, I'm pretty sure it would mostly be dividends otherwise she pays employers and employee NI, the difference between that and paying higher corporation tax on higher profits (dividends come from post tax profits) is not massive a few million at most but it also allows bet365 profits to show a nice reverse ski slope when presented to analysts etc useful if they ever decide to float.

According to the Guardian it's 199 million in salary and 18 million in dividends. Although it's the Guardian, so who really knows! (Edited to add that the Telegraph are reporting the same, so I think she really did pay that much tax and NI! www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2017/11/13/bet365-chief-exec-denise-coates-becomes-uks-highest-paid-boss/ ). www.theguardian.com/business/2017/nov/12/bet365-chief-denise-coates-paid-217m-last-year
