Swiss newspaper is relorting shaqiri will not play the swiss game prtugal - switzerland on 6.9 and reporting he could maybe (guessing) 4-6 weeks be back...i hope it is not that serious and it is just a safety measure...i guess he will not play tommorow

Irritating if true.

pre-cautionary and would imagine Stoke haven't allowed him to play in the international because of that.
4-6 weeks is probably some bollocks the club told the Swiss boss to ensure he wasn't even considered.

Unless he's made the injury worse in training today then I can't see it being that long.

The trouble is, given his injury record last season and Johnsons's for the past few seasons this has a high feel of predictable about it
We do need another rb and another winger but I doubt we will get them given the seemingly focus on cb and cf

Strange they put him not in the team for this game. And it's a very important game...i think they know the truth. Did he train today?

His thighs are so big that they have a gravitational pull on each other which in turn creates a black hole between his knees and his cuckoo clock. Must be a nightmare. Conner fault thee Shaq, get well soon duck!

What an effing waste of time he has been. Funny how he managed all those games for Switzerland but can't get fit for Stoke.

My guess is MH is trying to keep as many of his "ify" fitness players away from international duty as he can and let them have an extended recovery period.

Is it beyond the realms of possibility that we could sell him before the deadline?
He's crap and extremely annoying. His ability to be out for weeks on end is extremely annoying. He makes victor Moses seem injury free.

linkHe must be the most tweaked and niggled and strained player in the country. 78% of him is thigh and calf. They're just like a sitting duck to any passing niggle. 8-9 games-a-season are basically written off.

If his name was john smith and we'd signed him from Huddersfield and he proceeded to play for us the way shaqiri has there wouldn't be a single person on here defending him.

Probably highlights the need for a proper alternative option on the right.
Doubtful Hughes sees Sobhi as a realistic contender out there, so no doubt we'll see Walters or Diouf, assuming we won't see Bojan looking lost out there

He's got the fitness record of a one legged dodo with chronic asthma and a forty fags a day habit.

Throw him in. How bad can he be? He gave Stevenage more problems in 15 minutes than Walters did in 90.

Isn't the rule if you miss the league game then you have to miss the National Game? not as far as i'm aware...if it was then Wenger would be fucked, he's king of the old "Not fit enough for the international game, will be out for 4 weeks" then is magically fit again for the next Prem match

But given the lack of other options, I'd certainly be tempted.

Put Arnie on the right as the senior player and let sobhi start on the left. They can switch during the game. The lad is right footed though. It has to be easier to play on the right as a right footer despite all this inverted winger bollocks. Crouch will start for sure so get two wide men on and get some crosses into the box, preferably from as close to the byline as is feasibly possible

If Partick Thistle offered us £2M, I'd let him go tomorrow. Don't really want to jump on the bandwagon but he has been no where near half the price we paid for him. His whole impact has been totally stop start. Reluctantly, I would cut my losses if I were Sparky

His legs are over-muscled and must be as tight as piano wires: time for less weights and more yoga.

You cannot consider a player in your plans who will miss 25% of your games,he as had injury problems all his short career that's why he didn't make it at his previous clubs bar the Swiss league.
