Ok let me rephrase. "He should be able to play right" any good winger can play on both sides. Matty Etherington was a good winger, he couldn't play on the right. Pennant similar but switch sides. It's a nonsense. Let's be honest, Etherington and Pennant are not in the same league as Arnautovic. Arnautovic is a really good winger. He has the ability to cut inside from the left and attack and he's good enough from what I've seen when he's on the right at crossing balls into the box.

Arnie can still play there though and do a job for us, he is that good.

Arnie can still play there though and do a job for us, he is that good. Lots of players can 'do a job' for us on the right. The important thing though, is that only Arnie can be excellent for us on the left, so (obviously) far better to leave him there. Of course time will tell if Sobhi can step up on the left too.

Yeah but I'm sure out of our squad, Shaq aside, Arnie would be our biggest threat from the right. He was fantastic at Werder Bremen down the right side. Where as Bayern said he can't play on the right which is what I'm disagreeing with.

I can name a lot of wingers that can play on both sides. Maybe Arnautovic hasn't been in favour on the right in our current squad, but that's just how we're set-up. I can assure you Arnautuovic would boss it down the right just as much as the left.

Hughes likes his wingers to cut inside, but if we were to set up with a big man in the box and have our wingers cross balls in I'm sure we would see a different Arnautovic on the right.

linkXherdan Shaqiri, how is your leg? Thanks for asking. I'm on track. I have inserted an extra two days therapy in Basel and will, if all goes well, enter team training at the end of week

Arnie is good at crossing off his left as well, he just rarely chooses to do so. Winds me up as he's created plenty of chances and a few goals bending it in with his left foot EDIT: Just seen his assist for Austria tonight and he got to the byline and stood it up with his left. Should do this more for us, no question about his ability. Is it the way he's told to play or does he naturally want to cut in and play it square or shoot?

I'm a fully paid up member of the Arnie fan-club. But if I had to choose between Arnie and Matty at his best, I'd probably have to chuck a coin in the air to decide.

Still, Im sure he doesn't mind when he sees his bank balance & counts the notches on the bed head

Xherdan Shaqiri, however, is still nursing a calf strain that has kept him out since he scored the equaliser in the opening day draw at Middlesbrough.
Shaqiri missed Switzerland's win over Portugal this week but had been hoping to return to training today.
"Xherdan is still a little bit slow at the moment," said Hughes in an interview for Stoke's official website.
"We've tried something a little different with him this week just to push him on but he won't be available for the weekend. "

Played all games in the Euros even extratime and looked very fit. All those injuries and the season has barely started it´s not only bad luck.

So no Shaq or potentially Diouf....Walters on the right?
N'Goy might make the bench again then.

Perhaps his reluctance to sign for us was his way of trying to do us a favour, knowing he would never be fit.

Perhaps his reluctance to sign for us was his way of trying to do us a favour, knowing he would never be fit. It's something we're doing that's the root cause, played every game for Switzerland, comes back here and he's out for a month and he's not the only one always out with niggling injuries either

Bojan broke down without any Contact, Odemwingie and Butland also. No details about the longterm injuries for Afellay and Ireland. Surely Hughes must be concerned he´s not a fool.

A lot of knee ligament injuries happen when there is no contact with another player. Butland had an underlying problem that caused his injury. There has been news about both Afellay and Ireland this week.
