The simple fact of the matter is this lads: cashing in on him WAS the correct thing to do BUT had to be followed up by buying a suitable replacement. Had we done that, no one would be on here screaming "I told you so". As it is we're beginning to look fairly stupid not because we sold Nzonzi but because we haven't filled the hole he left. We didn't cash in, we let him go for peanuts. We let him go for significantly more than we would have had to next summer. However you want to phrase it, the point remains: we wouldn't be having this conversation if we'd done the second part of the job properly. Namely, buying a suitable replacement. That's the bit we fucked up.

No doubt about it that the handling of the Nzonzi situation shows we are still totally naive. 7m is nothing compared to his value to us, in staying up this year. The fact we replaced one of the most important positions in the team with a youngish loan player with zero Prem experience just screams of a royal fuck up. Will we accept 8M for Shawcross next summer? No we won't sell Ryan for £8mill for one main reason he still would have two years left on contract and not his final season unlike nzonzi

Bojan is far from shit however he is not the best midfielder to play for Stoke City. "Yet." He's only 25. If you think Nzonzi is a better player to have than Bojan in your side you're clearly mistaken. The Spaniard is miles better. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

If that's true it's quite a turnaround, he's only played 3-4 games and two games ago I saw him awarded a 10/10 performance, scored from outside the box and hailed as another bargain Monchi masterstroke. The Spanish are more fickle than us.

We are playing with a sulky Walters, and that doesn't seem such a bad idea Big difference. Walters doesn't want to leave and he's a much better character than N'zonzi. Another difference could be that Walters wouldn't have the option for playing for a Champions League side As for character, Walters strikes as a big mard arse who likes to throw his toys out in public when things are not going his way and a bit of a twat with dodgy political views so I beg to disagree on the character front.

They need to stop wetting their knickers. It's a quick fall from grace though.

There were loads of personal issues compounding the N'Zonzi move too. Far from just footballing stuff. Did you think that sacking Pulis would automatically give us a pass into the Champions League? {Like it has Crystal Palace?}. You're the fella dancing between threads, telling folk to get a grip, moaning that everyone is like Arsenal fans. Or is that someone else? Seriously what were you expecting. Piss poor Stoke indeed! I told you all two years before Tony Pulis left what we could expect if we got in a manager and coaches who concentrated on playing football. I was bang on the money - we got better football and better results. That's a fact. You won't find a post from me saying I expected CL football as that is pie in the sky stuff. It is piss poor - do you really think selling N'Zonzi for £7million is a good deal for Stoke City and replacing him with a loan? (Forget MvG's ability, he's decent, but he's not ours) We are weak and naive off the pitch - we always have been. We have a long history of letting good players go for peanuts. It was the "I told you all" that made me chuckle the most.

I don't think Nzonzi will be missed half as much as when shawcross is back, yes he was a good player but this 'Nzonzi shaped hole' isn't actually a 'Nzonzi shaped hole' it's a 25% Nzonzi and 75% Shawcross hole.

Still think Bojan will eclipse every stoke midfielder stat, appearances and win us some trophies hopefully in the next four years, easily.
