Clearly Ryan is 4th choice in this squad but for me, he should partner Lescott.
Ryan is miles better than Cahill and whilst I like Jagielka, I wouldn't swap him for Ryan. I have always rate Lescott but he doesn't seem to be playing too well at the moment given his continued ommision from the Man City starting 11 for crucial games.
If Ryan plays, he won't be displaced, of that I am super confident.
Hopefully, should he not get the chance to show his quality on the pitch, he will surprise them all with his quality on the training pitch. A full England debut for the best young centre half in the country can't be too far away now!
Delighted with the call up and now hope that a couple of the others pick up injuries and withdraw so that he plays.

Really pleased for our kid. we have certainly aided his development but he is a class apart.
If his success meant he moved on then I know that us Stokies would always give that lad a reception and wish him the best.
Good lad.

It'll be a very proud moment for every Stokie if he makes his debut. The only thing that could top it would be Wilko playing for England.

My only concern is that he if plays, i hope that he doesn't make a massive fuck up. Especially not in his first game. San Marino !!!!....i doubt it mate Stuart Pearce managed it ;D

Well done, Ryan. Long overdue.
Go show 'em you can play and the snide comments about lack of technical ability, are just that: snide comments. We've had some terrific centre backs at Stoke over the years, but I honestly feel this guy is the best. My 'Old Fella', described Neil Franklin to me and also a work colleague who played against Franklin. The descriptions of both fit this man like a glove.

That comment above about only being prouder if it were Wilko making an England debut has some very real truth about it.
Wilko is truly one of us by Ryan certainly feels like one of us even though he came through the ranks at Manure.
Ryan is one of us and regardless of when and where he moves, as he inevitably will, I hope we will always treat him like that.

Great News for Ryan and Great News for SCFC....
Hopefully this will help remove the stigma that playing for Stoke closes the curtains on your aspirations to have an international career.

if he plays you got to fancy him to score.
I think he has a good shout for the San Marino game.
A caller to aln brazil suggested he should move to chelsea form a partnership with cahill and it can be the international pairing for years to come

It pisses me off that so many fans of big clubs actually think it is a good thing for ALL the best players to gravitate to just four or five clubs.

Only thorn in Ryan,s side is that wanker Pearce who never played him in the U21,s as often as he should. What the fuck he is doing still involved with England after his abysmal record with U21,s heaven knows!Ryan should get 90 mins on Friday and Pearce should have been sacked after European U21,s championships.
