A prize for finding the first Nigerian or US based Arsenal cunter pronouncing it the death of football. Let's hope he get on now. Adrian Durbrain will have topic no. 1 sorted for today's show on TalkSh*te now. Yep on now. "How is Ryan Shawcross better than Rio Ferdinand" ;D

Also if you are looking for a role model for young kids to emulate then Ryans your man.Top,top bloke.Thoroughly deserved. Well done Ryan, chuffed to bits for you .

It's a great reward for Ryan personally and a proud moment for TP and Stoke as an emerging force in English club football. It just gets better and better.

Ryan is not the complete article yet and right now, you would say that Ferdinand's experience would put him ahead of Ryan. But this is about the next World Cup not the last one. If he gets into the team now, he'll have a chance to mature into the full international he will need to be when the tournament starts and by that time Ferdinand will not be an option anyway.
It's not about Ferdinand and Terry any more. Ferdinand is fucked, Terry has fucked off. It is about Ryan, Cahill, Lescott, Jagielka, Jones and Smalling. Four from those six and unfortunately Ryan is probably the least likely ...but at least he is on the radar and in with a chance.

Would agree with all of that except the bit about "Ferdinand's experience putting him ahead of Ryan right now". What matters is NOW and Ferdinand looks bloody awful and Ryan is playing the best football of his life.

He's only in because of the other injuries it saddens me to say. Woy hates everything Stoke which is typified by the exclusion of Crouch, who on form and fitness, should be included.

Absolutely delighted for the lad. He is a model pro' and a model of consistency who continues to improve. I remember him scoring away at Cardiff soon after we signed him and his obvious delight/amazement at hearing fans chanting his name. His selection is well deserved and overdue. As my 16 year old daughter said 'Oh bless his cotton socks, I want to give him a hug.' Congratulations Ryan and happy birthday you have made this Stokie very proud.

even i know that quality now for shelvey join the team even better charlton get £250k every appearance from what ive learnt today What is Shelvey's best position in midfield? Because at times he looks a little lost and isolated which results in him not getting forward enough to cause a threat, or back enough to defend effectively. I believe he was a smashing player at Charlton???

In terms of all round ability , Ryan is not as good as Ferdinand ,but Ferdinand even in his prime was guilty of losing focus at least once in a game and on several occasions this proved costly, In contrast Ryan has consistently been at the top of his game and made the most of his ability and currently is playing far better than Ferdinand.

Ryan is the future. Rio is a spent FARCE.... yes FARCE. one of the most overrated players in English football history. he has got the attention spell of a goldfish. once again well done Ryan.. now get ready for the arsenal dummies to come flying out of their prams, and shouts of. "I'm not watching England ever again" etc etc etc...

Congrats to Shawcross – he deserves it on form and experience as Captain of a stable Premier League club and he’d walk into our team.
I like Rio – he’s one of ours – but agree it’s time to move on from his era. The younger guys won’t get the experience otherwise to deal with proper pressure games.
I don’t think Woy dislikes Stoke – it’s just that the top 4-6 usually provide the core and that’s unlikely to change.
There’s a similar debate running on Kumb regarding Noble being overlooked in favour of the usual Milners and Johnsons who’ve hardly set standards and keeping Gerrard & Lampard is more about keeping experience in the squad with both Terry & Ferdinand gone.
Crouch – could have had a field day against San Marino paired up with Defoe and for me Carroll is a fitness risk (for both England & WHU). He’s also got to get past Saturday against the gooners first.
