I really hope some fucker in the media asks Jones why he thinks it's a good move for Verlinden. I would love to hear his answer.

If it works the board will be lauded for their bravery and conviction. If it doesn't it's just another error to add to the ever-growing catalogue. They better pray that it works out. If it doesn't, and the eventual result is we are doomed then I will never forgive them for letting everything slip away. I really thought when we signed Shaq back in 15/16 that we'd disrupt the Top 8 of the Prem. Look at us now, dithering bottom of the Championship looking like League 1 candidates. It hurts knowing how we let it all happen. We've been in worse but regardless, this is absolutely wank in it's own right.
Yes we were looking like we might challenge Everton, Leicester as the best outside the top 6. At that time it needed some serious strategic thinking of how we can push on and improve and utilise BET 365 mega bucks. Instead complacency set in, the board continued to allow managers to have their way with dubious signings. Our recruitment team have never been fit for purpose and got bailed out by some astute signings by Pulis and Hughes. Once Hughes lost interest and made awaful signings we sank and one major decision after another at the club were poor. I can see now that John Coates isn't a strategic thinker or has any business acumen at all but I genuinely thought Coates senior in discussion with Denise would have been able to plan an upward curve from the strong position we were in.

I don't really have a problem with young players going out on loan if it is in their best interest. But I cant really believe that pitching a young player into a basket case club like Bolton who are marooned at the foot of the table and players morale at rock bottom is in the best interest of one of our young players. I would genuinely love to know why this is a good move for the lad?

Geez he must be desperate to get away. Bolton can't be a good place to be at the moment, but maybe better than working under Jones. Strange times indeed

The genius Jones believed he could teach McClean defensive skills and maybe even known how to make a legal tackle, but couldn't be arsed to try and improve Bauer. Bizarre

It was a managerial car crash from the moment he chose the team and formation. What was he thinking. His game management is bordering on the simpleton. It's clear in the time he has been here he has learnt very little. It's all well and good being super self confident but you need to learn from mistakes. 1 for turning up.

I really hope the board make a knee jerk reaction like they did with Hughes didn't have a replacement lined up and ended up with the woeful Lambert. If the right bloke hasn't been found then have some patience. The season is pretty much a right off already so waiting till December isn't going to make a huge difference. A decent experienced manager will get these players performing I am sure of that. However with their non foreign policy I shudder to think who the board would appoint. Their record has been pretty shit with the last 3 appointments.

Why the hell would Sandra in the CO-OP know that Jones had been sacked? If she’s right now I’m going to go down and ask her out Looking at your posts I am not convinced you are old enough to date

Leeds are and have been a loathsome club. But you have to say Bielsa has them playing some great football. This season all he has done is added some very smart loanees Nketiah Costa Harrison White. All young fast players. Not spent a penny on fees. In contrast we have loaned Hogan Duffy and CCV some contrast. As for Bielsa not joining us it's more a case of our hierarchy not wanting foreign or possibly they had never heard of him. I said pre season that Leeds would walk this league and they will. Under Jones we will be kicking around mid table champs until his contract expires.

Whitchurch Alport made history today by winning 3-0 at Coleshill in the FA Cup who are one step above them in the football pyramid. When they appear in the next round it will be the furthest they have ever been in the FA Cup and One step closer to Wembley Are you still over here or back home? Both the Northwich teams, 1874 & Vics, went through so interesting to wait for the draw, not sure which round Witton come into it, think it's the 2nd qualifying round September 7th is the next round, the first qualifying round, International weekend so no game for Stoke. Hi Chris back in Georgia but tempted to get back for Alports next Fa Cup game..............Home to Leek Town!!!! Wonder if Carto will be there?

The win over Leeds is certainly the highlight of Jones's tenure at Stoke. In all honesty he had only just walked through the door and sat at his desk so not sure just how much that performance was attributed to him. After that once his pyschobabble tactics scrambled the players thought process the following results and performances were awful and have continued just with the odd plucky draw thrown in. New players and pre season has only seen the decline continue. It's hard to see exactly what can change to turn this around. Certainly bringing in someone he knows to head up recruitment is yet another mistake made by the board.

I don’t think there is any evidence he didn’t choose the players and he got 11. We do need a technical director but I don’t think Jones was let down. Due to the restrictions of FFP NJ was offered a very limited list of players because he could have. No manager would choose to just buy freebies. I’d rather he spent the amount he did on less but better players. He went for quantity over quality. Some of whom weren’t fit for purpose. Not one of them has had a positive impact other than maybe Gregory and Hoga. A club our size can’t afford to buy so many players who don’t improve us. Davies - not in the squad Smith - dropped Carter Vickers - poor Cousins - dropped and out of his depth. Lindsey - bang average Ward - barely played Powell - injured Duffy - early days. Hogan - ok but not Gayle Gregory - good workrate but no goals yet. The mess we’re in is 3 years in the making because - we’ve made some dreadful signings that have crucified us financially Imbula, NDaiye, Berahino, Wimmer, Bauer, Vokes, Clucas, Afobe. - we kept players that we needed to sell that didn’t cut it in the Championship. - when we hit the Championship we gave a large budget to a manager who basically wasted a huge amount on the likes of Ince, Afobe, Clucas and McClean. - We then gave NJ limited funding which he wasted on players that have made no impact on a team that struggled last season which has resulted in us being even worse. Absolute shambles!!!!! Scholes out!!!!! You haven't mentioned Vokes and Bath both now seem to be not first choice. How much did they cost? Most of our problems are clearly down to poor recruitment. In a very long list from 4 windows only Etebo stands out as a quality signing. I guess our recruitment has been recognised as not fit for purpose hence Cartos demise. But many of the signings were clearly the manager's and the problem is nobody challenges these decisions. So by giving the manager carte blanche in his recruitment we often end up with shite. We have long needed a big hitter at DOG level who doesn't come from knowing Coates or the manager. Someone who can take an outside view and implement major changes.

If Jones is sacked is there any decent foreign coaches out of work? Well we don't do foreign players any more and we have never had a foreign coach appointed by Coates so unlikely. Having said that the current manager speaks a language nobody understands so maybe Coates is warming to the idea. 😀

As long as the joker at board level, whoever that was and John boy was favourite, who thought Paul Lambert was the man to help us avoid relegation, doesn't get a vote on a new manager. Otherwise one name will lurch from the darkness and that would be Nigel Adkins...it would be a classic absolute shite appointment and very Stoke.

Kidsgrove Athletic v Newcastle Town tomorrow in the 1st preliminary round, good local derby for those not going to Stoke. Dreadful starting xi with too many changes for me also, needed a bit of experience at the back. One man up front at home is sad to see no matter who you are playing. Cousins for Woods, no thanks and I hope I never have to watch that lineup again. The keeper saved him from getting a 5-0 hammering. 1 for finding his seat in the dugout.

It was the Qualifying preliminary round of the FA Cup today. And it was History in the making for my home town club Whitchurch Alport. They have never been past this point in over 70 yrs as a club. It was a 3-0 away win against a team one step higher in the pyramid. Other locals Kidsgorve v Newcastle was a draw and Market Drayton got rinsed 6-0. I await the next round draw with interest

The BBC has a massive agenda to pretend football is a female dominated game rather than male. On the radio two days ago they had an interview with “some Bury supporters near the ground”.....three women and one man. And the man spoke last and was largely kept out of the interview. It’s all part of the agenda to make football appear to be a women’s game. The head of bbc sport is female. Expect more female presence on BBC sports programs than even now. Also they will keep telling the UK license payer that women's football and every other cheap minority sport is money well spent.

With Powell's injury record it made sense to have a decent alternative. The bewildering thing is Jones prefers Ince in that position. As an attacking midfield player you have to be a major influence and help dominate the opposition. Ince as we all know, skilful and can find the net goes missing for long periods in a game. Not my choice as a no 10. It's on record that he doesn't even fancy that position.

Well it depends on what the boards ambitions are in the short term. It's can definitely not be promotion this season, this current team is nowhere near good even and looks at best a mid table team. I was surprised at the promotion call this season from both the board and Jones. By appointing Jones the board consigned us to this division for a few years until Jones gains experience both of this league and management in general. Expecting a raw manager with only a league two promotion on his CV to turn an ailing club on and off the field into a promotion team was a ridiculous call. In this league an inexperienced manager just doesn't get you promotion quickly. I doubt anyone can suggest a manager with such limited experience as Jones has achieved promotion from the Championship so early in his career. Even Eddie Howe had a few more years under his belt before he got Bournemouth up...and Jones is no Eddie Howe. This season looking at our squad, and after a poor summer recruitment, already promotion looks very unlikely even with a stellar replacement for Jones. But this board don't do stellar appointments. Unless we are in serious trouble end of november then stick with Jones, downgrade supporter expectations by spouting some realism, and make the call in the summer. That call would be another revolution with serious spend with the right manager or accept that Jones is the right guy and prepare for another 4/5 yrs at this level.
