How can it be fake? Looks genuine to me. He even asks for it not to go out on the 2nd video Current 'AI' can realistically mimic anyone's voice from 2 seconds of audio. Mouth movements in video can be changed to fit the audio. So even if it's real like he now says it is, it possibly could've been faked. Fair enough, didnt know that If it was fake, theyve done a good job |

He's absolutely right. Klopp is a massive cunt and I imagine deeply disrespectful to referees post match when things don't go his way. The way he spoke to journalists and pretty much anyone outside of Liverpool in his final couple of seasons was disgusting.
Genuinely found Klopp one of the most dislikeable managers in Premier League history.

The fact that this was even being debated as potential AI is harrowing. I feel like AI is quickly going to get to a disturbing level whereby video footage could be rendered irrelevant if it's merely passed off as AI. And vise versa. Police and military alike will need to quickly get to work on rolling out technology that counters AI fakes that determines what is legitimate. |

Was definitely ill advised, but at the end of the day he's simply said an opinion on someone in private to a friend while off his tits. And let's face it, Klopp has been an absolute bellend to referees over the years.

You can guarantee there’s been dozens of top flight refs over the decades who’ve had too many and told people things that would get them in hot water if it was recorded. The only difference in modern times is everyone carries the technology to record and share that conversation. It’s harsh but it’s just the way of the world now. If you’re in that sort of position you have to be far more careful than previous generations had to be. |

I fail to see how he has a bias against Liverpool. His record of 16 games is Liverpool won 11 drew 4 lost 1 . The one loss was against Everton who on the night blew them away I recall . His comments are naive but true . Klopp was at the best of times a bit of a twat. Could it be the old Liverpool saying always the victim never to blame is surfacing again . Where did the video emerge from ? Liverpool by any chance ? Of course all referees will tread carefully now . They might get the odd penalty. And of course we could point to Salahs penalty against West Ham a year or two back. They get their fair share of dodgy decisions in their favour .

I’d rather we were denied a stonewall penalty every month for the rest of my life than be subjected to three minute stoppages while borderline decisions are made and not be able to properly celebrate a goal when the ball hits the net.
Plus all it would do is shift bias - conscious or otherwise - into the video room rather than the pitch.

VAR has proven to be a horrible creation and strips so much emotion (and time) out of the game. As you say, is the Premier League any better for it? Absolutely not. Yes it would have given us a penalty at the weekend but it also would have cost us countless goals. It says it all the way that so many managers spoke out against VAR last year prior to the vote triggered by Wolves, only for all chairman's to vote in favour of it. Anyone would think there is a lot of money in VAR? Fuck the FA. |

Am I the only person who finds the video uncomfortable to watch, and perhaps even a bit sinister?
The referee may well be completely hammered, but the other people present ('interviewer' and cameraman?) seem to be well in control of the situation. The referee says at one point that he and his companions should be socially distanced, so that would date this video to some time in 2020. If so, somebody has hung onto it for four years before deciding to release it.

I'd say a period of suspension/reflection & allow him to ref in the EFL if he wants to carry on to remove any subconscious bias of reffing a Prem match that could influence Liverpool. Albeit that said I watched him referee the Liverpool v Villa match on Saturday evening and if anything, Villa were the team who came away feeling hard to done to from the officials decision making! Was 4yrs ago now and he was purely expressing an opinion that's someone's decided to sit on and release at a moment of their choice, no doubt for financial gain or a vengeance type statement. Yes he was wrong to express the opinion on camera and to record it using the type of language he has. There's been far worse happen in football including footballers, ex footballers, managers etc and the vast majority have found their way back into the game having committed far worse than this. He's done wrong, been outed and has damaged his reputation but let's not kid ourselves that he's some henious criminal who deserves a prison sentence! |

Sorry but you can't generalise like that. I'm friends with a Select Group 2 ref and he's a top bloke. Coaches one of the local village junior teams and is very well liked in the local area |
