The scary thing is, I'd imagine most referee's hold views like this after dealing with managers/clubs in the past. Even scarier thing is, we'll never know  (unless more of them are as thick as this lad) |

Yeah there is absolutely no way, he would say that into a camera is there? Maybe if he was right pissed or proper coked out of his mind, then possibly I guess but he doesn't appear to be either of those things. EDIT: Actually having just watched this video, maybe it IS a 7am been off his head all night recording. He's so fucked if it is! |

This is why we need VAR in the championship and if it was left to me in every league to stop these bias corrupt refs
I said the same years ago on here about uefa and fifa and all I got back was refs aren’t like that etc.
Yes they are. Be it bias or unconscious bias it goes on up and down the country, epically in our area 😜

Referees are human and are going to have personal opinions like anyone else. We don't need telling that a lot of referees clearly had a disliking towards us for much of our Premier League days and we got treated more harshly than most teams.
He was just stupid enough to say one of his personal opinions out loud whilst being videoed.

We don't need telling that a lot of referees clearly had a disliking towards us for much of our Premier League days and we got treated more harshly than most teams. He was just stupid enough to say one of his personal opinions out loud whilst being videoed. No, it shows we need VAR in every league possible in this country. Yes VAR can still get things wrong, but I think it’s in the 90% upwards mark on being correct. It gives a chance to rule out one persons bias or unconscious bias and have it viewed by another 3 people to rule it. No brainer for me. I always there were dodgy refs in this country as well as in Europe and around the world. Now it’s proving to be true |

To be fair you can see why anybody would have that opinion when you see the shit the refs get off some of the managers like Klopp ..... but to get caught on video FFS!

You see I don’t see why refs can get this opinion, until they’ve retired maybe. You can get called every name under the sun while you’re on that touch line, but it is your job to officiate the match you’re involved to the best of your ability and correctly. When you retire you can look back, and managers can look at you in years to come and say, to be fair he was a good ref who always got most of the big decisions right, then you rely on VAR to confirm those decisions. Once you start ignoring fouls because you hate scousers and Liverpool FC you’re bang in trouble and in the wrong game. He could also call over the ref and say mr klopp has called me this and that and have him sent to the stands |

Mouth movements in video can be changed to fit the audio. So even if it's real like he now says it is, it possibly could've been faked. |

If interested, you should read the Jeff Winter's (ex-ref) book "Who's the B*** in the black". It gives you an insight into how ref's go about things, & their mindset. Including, like the Police, they only get promoted if they get enough bookings. They have to be seen to be doing their disciplinary job. Plus, there's a pecking-order. If your face doesn't fit you don't get anywhere. a bit like Industry, really!

VAR ‘only’ solves the big decisions, what needs addressing is how a corrupt official can affect the pattern of a game.
By giving 6-7 incorrect fouls and allowing the other team to get away with stuff/ time waste a significant advantage is gained.
I would say that they would rather, if they were corrupt, give team A the benefit for the vast majority but try and make the big calls as accurately as possible.
