Amid all this where is Coote? The scale of this could be catastrophic. Hopefully he's getting support he needs. The first video made me think “what a bloody idiot” but that video of him apparently doing a line alone in his hotel room, at what should have been one of the high points (no pun intended) of his career just makes me feel incredibly sad. And he certainly seems to have some very dubious people around him, going by the lad in the first video and whoever decided to make both videos public. I genuinely hope he’s as ok as he can be. |

They'll be very careful how they handle this, as they will be worried that, if his career is over, what he might expose. He may decide for instance, to sign up with one of the papers, & to do a full disclosure of what goes on in the referees group & the pressures that they are put under to toe the line. There's all sorts of turns that this could take.

There's no suggestion whatsoever it was a Liverpool fan who shared the video and even Jamie Carragher has spoken out supportively of Coote. |

Agree. Refs are only human after all. His reffing career is well and truly over now but he needs to speak at some point however difficult it is. Not least because this carries ramifications for referees in general and, by definition, the integrity of football as a whole. Liverpool and fans will milk it but so would anyone. I blame that Ian Rush advert and only being good enough to play for Accrington Stanley if you dunna drink milk. It's got a bit of a Caroline Flack feeling about it, I hope everyone has learned their lesson and is a bit more sensible in the way they handle it.
