Why would he even allow any of the discussion about Klopp etc. or drug taking to be recorded on film?

He should come out and own the situation - I don't think many football fans would be too upset if he did. "Yeah, I was wasted but Klopp had really fucked me off at the weekend - and I let my emotions get the best of me through frustration. I haven't let this dictate my decisions moving forward.." etc etc Everyone gets annoyed in life and let's out their frustrations when they've had a few jars. No doubt the Liverpool fans will milk this for every fucking penny it's worth though. Agree. Refs are only human after all. His reffing career is well and truly over now but he needs to speak at some point however difficult it is. Not least because this carries ramifications for referees in general and, by definition, the integrity of football as a whole. Liverpool and fans will milk it but so would anyone. |

Probably agree but Bobby Madley is now back reffing in the EFL after being sacked a few years ago for being caught on video mocking disabled people. Which would you say was worse? Morally I would say Madley and he’s back working. Whether the PGMOL would see it differently is up to debate however. I reckon he could easily get a job abroad in a year or so which would probably be easier for him anyway |

Apparently a video of him sniffing coke at the Euro’s where he was an official. I've just seen it. That line is pathetic. The ones that VAR draw for marginal offsides are fatter. They’re not as straight though |

No of course I don't, but this referee has brought his profession into disrepute. He's tainted his colleagues. It was an utterly idiotic thing to do. People have been fired for the largely the same. Aside from tonight's revelations he's basically gobbed off in a private setting that years later has been made public. Who hasn't had a whinge and moan about work colleagues/bosses etc in front of their mates? Being filmed doing it is quite bizarre & is what's led to his downfall, but it's been undisclosed for 4yrs so if someone hadn't leaked it out in this way no-one would be none the wiser. We've all vented our spleens, but to do it on camera is reckless. That's his fault, not anyone else's. I know a lecturer who had a rather candid thing or two about his students on social media a few years ago. Didn't last long after that. Not someone I worked with but I knew them, and they were decent at their job, but WTAF, you just don't do it. |

He’s certainly crossed a line. He really needs to keep up with the speed of things otherwise he’ll end up looking a right Charlie. He’s probably on a bit of a downer at the minute. If ever you needed any evidence that referees think the game is actually about them, look no further than the latest Coote leak. The man himself thought he was "too big" to be reffing Coventry v Oxford at a half empty Ricoh Arena.
There is also a picture doing the rounds of several referees lapping it up with Asian hookers. It won't come as a surprise to anyone to see Martin Atkinson front and centre of those pictures.

He's an idiot but, like most of us, he's still human and makes mistakes - some worse than others. If he's strong and can get through this initial chaos then as Badger says, he could make a fortune if he sits down and writes a truthful book about his own antics and (with a libel barrister advising him), WTAF he actually knows goes on in the game.
