Hard to be sure but this feels like a very significant move.
Given the astronomical success of Bet365 you’d hope the Coates family know exactly what they are doing and you assume they have the best legal brains employed to help make decisions like this.

See I believe we should revert it back to the Britannia Stadium. Irrelevant of the old company that no longer exists, Britannia is a good solid and historic name also that I think would be a really nice touch. Plus you could use the same road signs and just peel off the Bet365 Stadium stickers they plastered over the top 🤣 Just call it whatever you want. I still sit in the sentinel stand. I don’t give a fuck what they’ve named it or how many times it’s change. Well done. But it does have an official name and the Bet365 stadium is a shit name, better to have a name synonymous with the football club like stadiums like the Anfield, Old Trafford or such, which are much better than The Emirates Stadium or the Etihad, named purely after brands. Or the other way round, the Coates family might not want to lose Stoke City by having some other investor own Bet365 and therefore Stoke City. |
