But it was our shit hole and I well remember about 50 thousand of us packed in watching Real Madrid. The Brit ot Bet365 never got close to that Atmosphere has never been the same even when our fans were being touted the loudest in the country. I blame all seater pre allocated stadia. The inability of like minded people to migrate together has changed the atmosphere for the worse and this is not from an ultra but a quiet fan who doesn’t want someone jumping up and down in front of me like a monkey. The Victoria Ground noise was another myth Yes, like any ground it had moments but all this...it was so much better atmosphere wise isn't true at all either. Anyone can pluck a game out from 40 years ago and say ..this night was amazing etc but let's not pretend, like the crowds that iy was regularly like that. It simply wasn't

Well, some wanted a change of ownership 😂 If Kathleen Turner and the Hills Have Eyes chap had a baby 😂 Can only be good news for Stoke! Half expected him burst into the time warp if I’m being honest. Best Riff Raff I’ve seen outside Richard O’Brien

Back to the Britannia would be nice... Will always be the Brit to me I'm older and it was the Victoria Ground for a very very long time including some of the best years It was the Victoria Ground when I started also, but that was the Victoria Ground, this ground will always be the Brit... Still call it that now

Is Denise 'clearing the decks' for a Bet365 sale? and does it matter anymore? People keep saying this. She’s the sort of person who will work until she drops. No way will she sell up. Selling a business doesn't mean someone is going to stop working. Many start new businesses.

Sounds to me like they are selling bet 365. Hopefully to steam rolll our world domination of football for the next 50 years.😂😂 Perhaps an age)health thing with Peter Coates and bakes sense on that front to have John totally fronting the club so to speak. With how JC looks I'm questioning whether it does tbh

All seems rather dodgy to me Why? Makes sense with all the legislation that is around the corner and if indeed bet365 want to expand which wouldn't surprise me.

Still call it that now Brittania Building Society were sponsors but not now, may as well stay as Bet365 or attract a new sponsor

It’s not that it was always bouncing just that when it was a bit flat all the vociferous fans grouped together managed to create some sort of atmosphere where as when the bet365 is flat it truly is a library. Personally I’m ok with a library. Particularly in the area where I sit. I now appreciate the demographic of the Victoria ground. I used to think my Grandad was a bit of a snob, he had seats in the Boothen stand but now I understand. Give me an atmosphere but give me one over there. Fucking hell, brain fart moment he wasn’t my Grandad he was my Great Grandad.

Change of ownership done so both sides, BET365 and the club, are separate to enable easier investment in, or even sale of, either or both in the future. Also, the crack down on betting companies in football is coming, so it makes sense from that viewpoint. The football club being debt free is great, as is the club back owning its own ground and training facility. It does leave the club as John's plaything, which worries me a bit for the reasons we all can see (brewery, piss up etc). It may also limit spending if all of it is now coming out of his pocket, not the wider BET365 resources. But where does Jon get his money from ? You have got it, Bet365 it’s just too make the club compliant with the future sanctions for clubs who are sponsored by gambling companies, unfortunately Stoke where in a precious position due to being probably the only club owned by a gambling giant. With today’s news we start afresh, a club who owns its ground with land and also owns its own training facilities all this is Jon Coates train set, we are free to have a new sponsor for the stadium also a new shirt sponsor, we have also become ripe for investment from outside sources and unlikely as it might seem a excellent prospect for a takeover ?

Thought the same. I've seen him a few times over the last few months in the flesh so to speak(ooher) and he seems on the edge. He looks stressed and gaunt and his driving is bordering on manic.

That all seems about right to me. I’m not sure they’d welcome outside investment though, it always seemed a bit taboo when mentioned before. Which is a shame because fresh ideas and a bit of diversity in the ownership would be good. And by diversity, I mean not a member of the Coates family. There will be a lot of clever reasons they’ve done this. It will be interesting to see what it actually is.

Per Companies House £195m of shares issued in Stoke City Holdings Ltd today to John Coates who takes over control from Peter Coates and Bet365. Shares issued for property. So all control now rests with JC and the Stoke balance sheet is significantly more healthy. I’m not an expert on FFP but all seems good from a Stoke financial perspective - only issue is whether you see JC as a good thing being 100% owner of the club.

I agree with you. But now I’m imagining you gathering with lots of other likeminded Baconburgers. And that’s a frightening vision. There really aren’t such a thing. It’s fairly restrained where I sit block 29. I’ve always liked it in there. We had 3 or 4 seasons in the South stand not a patch on it. Been in the top of what I still call the John Smith’s stand a few times that’s a bit too restrained. Too many people who aren’t really interested in the game at all. Hope the safe standing improves things but if it’s pre allocated I doubt it will be that significant.

Why has this been announced now and not at the start or after the window? Does this somehow release more funds or structured in a way to be able to spend more or am I just guessing wrong? Only just caught up on this, just wondering why at this moment? It doesn't affect what we can spend on transfers at all So what’s with the timing of this? Why now? Why not at the end of the window? Or have they done it just before the season starts? Either way the timing is making me think more, don’t know why or what

No idea I’ve always been the same quiet fan. Butler St paddock, Boothen end, Sentinel stand, South stand and back to the Sentinel. Even as a quiet fan I loved the atmosphere and the surge in the Boothen end but it wouldn’t be for me now.

Apologies, approx £133m shares issued today - £195m is the total shares in issue. Of the £133m, approx £40m issued in cash so don’t know whether that relates to cash injection or some accounting adjustment. The rest relates to property.
