Has anybody ever heard of this dude previously? I don't imagine he's coming in and we don't already have our list of targets for the Summer in place Assuming who we will and won't look at as well. i would have thought our list of targets was made a couple months back , so a strange time to change head of recruitment 🤷♂️

The job needs someone who is willing to set up a proper scouting network as well as recruitment policy. Jared was a software geek who didn't have any background in football or track record scouting and was playing FM with JCs money. I think the idea that we've passed up on the greatest talent ever is a bit far fetched. As for the foreign signings I think we will have a different window more because of our limited wild card slots than anything to do with Jared. While everyone was busy jizzing over foreign forwards we left our defence woefully short with loans, old men and trainees and no 1st choice GK that was ours. RM, JD and AN oversaw a terrible squad rebuild that had no coherence from back to front. We had no spine, We were impotent upfront and unbalanced in defence. Before Dublin achieves mythical status in hindsight I'd like to see this window out first. From what I understand JD liked to be in front of a screen and not too keen on getting out and about. Time will tell. Im fairly sure Dublin was getting slated not too long ago on here. In a similar vein to Tricky Dicky Suddenly hes indespensible

Time will tell. “The job needs someone who is willing to set up a proper scouting network as well as recruitment policy.” I think this could be the issue; from what’s been said Walters seemed to want a head of recruitment who would build relationships, get out and about and develop internal processes. If Dublin did just want “to be in front of a screen” that’s probably why the club have moved on. SS & SJW seemed happy with the list of prospective players put forward and have moved quickly in the market so Dublin’s eye for talent probably wasn’t the issue. Maybe all the meetings and reviews they had over the past few weeks that Pete Smith alluded to, led to this really difficult decision, because they wanted someone to contribute more and develop their staff 🤷♂️

OMG, can we just wait for an appointment, then give whoever it is time. For the club to employ whoever, they must have decent credentials.

For me, if one of Junior, hoever, leris or Gooch were left footed, last summer would have been solid. Crazy to have signed four players all of whom are best at rwb.
Of course, a star striker would have been great too but I think that was more a question of finances?

Of course, but after Rowett with Carto, Jones with Chapple, O'Neill with Cousins, Neil with Dicky and Jared and now Schumacher with Walters and Darnbrough, I think people are just mentally exhausted with it all and more than a bit sceptical. They're right to be despite many on here trying to deny their opinions by ridiculing them. That's a ridiculous list of people btw, all spanning just a mere 6 calendar years.

This exactly after all those people are bound to be a tad sceptical? Same with everything in reality isn't it? It's about whether you rate the people at the helm and subsequently whether you are prepared to put your trust in them. If you are on board with those in charge, you won't be sceptical, if you are unsure, you'll be a bit sceptical and if you aren't convinced you'll be more sceptical. Perversely, I was never a fan of Jon Walters the player but in this role he has now, I actually think he could be a godsend and I believe he'll be successful in the role. I trust him to identify what needs to change at our club to break the cycle we've been in and if that means replacing Dublin with someone with better contacts and who will actually get out and watch players in the flesh, then I'm all for it. Had the Dublin replacement been a Schumacher man from Plymouth I'd have been very worried. I'm comforted by the fact that it seems like it's going to be an outsider that our DOF (or whatever his title is) rates and that the manager is on board with. The early signing of the best Keeper in the Championship (in my opinion) and the likely arrival of a promising young left back to fight it out with wiley veteran Enda Stevens is also very positive. That both players see Stoke as the best option available to them among the suitors that they had, bodes very well in my opinion. I'm relaxed, am going to enjoy the summer free from the concerns of previous summers and quietly look forward to the season ahead.

Lee Darnbrough and Jared Dublin both have names like murder suspects from Death in Paradise.
No linking anyone with a name like Arthur Bagshaw to any dastardly deeds in the Caribbean these days.

So SJW now has Dublin’s list of potential signings plus the list the new transfer guru brings to the club.
We shouldn’t be short of options.

Of course, a star striker would have been great too but I think that was more a question of finances? Yeah I heard we'd allocated £5M which seemed very reasonable but actually proved significantly insufficient for the type of player we thought we'd be able to get for it. Stewart, Simms, Cannon bracket. We were at least £3M short, not that any of them had standout seasons. Simms did about the best and even he didn't come anywhere near justifying his fee.
