Stoke swoop for new chief scout
By Alan Nixon
Stoke City are swooping on Hull City to make Lee Darnbrough their new chief scout.
The Potters have been looking for an experienced spy and Darnbrough is joining from the Tigers.
Darnbrough previously worked for Norwich City and Burnley. He will dovetail with director of football Jon Walters.

Yep I know Lee, local & a Top fella, will be a great appointment if all completed.. From Stoke originally or just lives in the area Lee's not from Stoke, but lives on outskirts of Stafford so local for work purposes. Not that journeys and commuting are a major factor in this day & age but for work/family life balance living nearer to works got to be a bonus.

Any connection to Burnley during the Dyche era is almost as bad as another Pulista.

It says in the Sentinel article that he'll work alongside analysts Scott Coomber and Mama Sidibe.
Never had Mama down as a coder type? Cool.

Apparently a big factor of appointing Darnbrough is he has really good contacts with the big clubs in the prem, which can help get unlikely deals. Bit like how Hull managed to Carvalho on loan from Liverpool last season.

Maybe interesting to note although this all feels a bit non ideal to be swapping out Head of Recruitments now... Jared Dublin was actually not announced until the 26th June last year. So Lee has a full month more run in to the window, lets hope he's already got some irons in the fire and a scouting note book full of interesting prospects

Seems a decent move this, not that I know a great deal about him but he's not the Plymouth recruitment bloke and doesn't appear to be Walters mate.
Time will tell if it's a good appointment but it seems to have been made with the right foundations.

SJW has loads of contacts in the game and now we bring in Darnbrough who is similarly well connected.
Every signing needs to make some positive contribution not half of them like last season.

Another brick in a fast building wall of change it’s inevitable there will be quiet spells but a very very solid start to the summer and the spectacular still to come

It seems like the one position that we should have changed half way through a window being closed rather than right before a new window.
However, it’s happened now, so oh well. Good luck Li.

To be fair to Benj he called out Ricky Martin early doors
His positive change very much coincided with Tricky Dickys exit!

Going out on a limb here… I wonder if there’s some substance to the rumour about Liam Delap coming here and our new HOR has already put that in place. Probably not but just a thought.
Regardless, welcome Lee.
