So would I, any fan who had the money would want to own their own club. Even those who say they wouldn't would because they just wouldn't have the will power not to if they were minted. It's the dream I wouldn't. If I would, then I wouldn't employ morons who wouldn't give a toss about my dream. I mean, would you? I wouldn't. If I had the money the Coates family have 100% I would buy Stoke, no doubt about it. I'm not sure John Coates has hired morons, it just feels like there aren't enough football people around them to give them that little bit extra. We need to find a balance in the background, there seems to be too many suits and not enough that have worn the boots. 1 or 2 extra people who have been in management in and around them might work wonders.

Agreed. Coates family = £££ & true supporters. I say let them continue to spend the £££, let them enjoy being supporters and find some stronger football people to manage the detail and on/off pitch business. To want the Coates gone is utter lunacy, anyone who believes this is a nutter! We should embrace what they bring to the party.

Like it or not our current owners only have the best interests of Stoke at heart. Anyone else taking over is not going to be doing it from the goodness of their hearts and given we are a mid-tier sized club I am struggling to think who would be interested. You only have to look at Sheff Weds/Cardiff/Reading etc to see a trend of egomaniacal goons that take over with some kind of god complex thinking they can pump some money in and then get to the premier league to make some more money. When it falls flat on it's arse they are soon pulling the plug and leaving the clubs in a worse situation than they found them in. If we had say had something similar happen to us (i.e. the Coates leave) after relegation from the premier league and any new owner had pumped in the money they have, then by now they would have run for the hills and left us with a shit load of debt and close to winding up.

How else will they employ Johnny Boy? Denise is the business brains, Johnny Boy is just playing at it. It's small change to the family They, Bet365, employ Johnny Boy as Joint CEO.

What are they bringing to the party aside from 7 continuous years of abject failure to run the club properly? The only thing that I can see is 'not letting the club go bust by shovelling money into an undying furnace of our own making'.

Why do you think we should be different than all those clubs mentioned?

We had it all and the clowns in charge spectacularly fucked it up and then proceeded to fuck it up further for another 7 years (so much so that we're now staring League One in the face). With this in mind I'd hope you'll forgive me for being absolutely fucking livid at at what these dolts have allowed to happen to this famous old club.

Here's one then, if the owners weren't fans and weren't from Stoke, would they still have the unwavering support that the Coates have been afforded?
Would they bollocks, they'd have been ran out of town a couple of years ago.

I suppose it doesn’t matter how much money they have if it’s not going well and the atmosphere is caustic they might say enough is enough.
I’m no accountant but the finances look fairly complicated with ownership of the ground etc. and it’s a matter of finding a buyer with the right vision, funding and appetite for the job

Has anyone mentioned TP yet? Appreciate he’s probably too busy sorting the Middle East out (knows how to respond in a crisis), he’s probably also being lined up to sort out world poverty (knows how to operate on a budget), but will someone please mention TP, it’s like he never existed ffs Absolutely. The god that is TP should be contacted to save our Club. Can you make a list on here of all the things that Stoke won under the charge of Pulis. I will be forever grateful that he saved us from relegation and also that under his charge we gained promotion into the Premiership but he was never a deity and his football was so boring and negative.

No one else did (since Alan Durban - and it wasn’t even the Prem them), he kept us up in year 1 - huge achievement, did it again in year 2 - often seen as the most difficult year, he took us forward, and most of the rest is history. He should be revered, not disrespected. Do I want him back now? No. But that’s not the point. His list of achievements for this club is enormous and if you are a Stoke fan, you should be eternally grateful.

Some gravy train when you are still losing money and dreading the possibility of a ruinous relegation, which is almost certainly your future fate, unless you are one of the elite clubs. Since the Premier League began, 51 clubs have played in it. Only 6 of the original members and Luton, Brentford and Brighton have not been relegated from it. So 42 clubs have been relegated, some of them multiple times. Being relegated from it is more or less certain to happen at some stage. If you don't get back up quickly then it is more than likely to take years and years. Ask Leeds or Sunderland for example. The mistake which killed us was Rowett's bad buying and subsequent failure to get us promoted. I can understand your feelings which are shared by a majority of the fans, but this 7 year thing is just bullshit. After Rowett made a mess of things, the next 4 years including AN's first season were spent trying to get the club back on an even keel financially. During that time the club lost £200m. The alternative option during those 4 years was to gamble on promotion and say to hell with FFP and risk point deduction after point deduction while still having to sort our finances in League one or Two. This is the first year that we had a chance to make progress and our present situation is the biggest disappointment of all.

They well might have been, but I'm not certain that we would have found a new owner willing to take on our £140m debt at the time, even if they got the club for nothing. Then again, we might have got lucky and got a new owner like Tony Bloom who is bright and has put £300m into Brighton. Or we could have wound up like Derby who got funded until the owner saw Lampard lose out on promotion. Then he stopped funding the club, leaving them in the chaotic situation that they are in. The future doesn't look too bright for them. I suppose it depends on which outcome you think is more likely. I wonder what odds you would get from Bet365 on each.

Yes, we have been and STILL ARE suffering from that gamble we took in the Rowett era. (And the fact that it caused a Jones era in the first place) MON's timing was actually perfect to keep us from tottering off into oblivion with FFP and League 1. But sadly, we couldn't produce anything consistent on the pitch by employing the bargain-bin approach. For me, it keeps going back to recruitment and the fact that nearly every manager who comes here seems to "lose the changing room." As another poster said, I'm at the point now where I don't care if Schu destroys the locker room, but in the process builds it back again with only the players who give a sh*t.

It would be yet another massive flip flop. Back to the dour after how many games? You swapping head coach too because I can’t see the styles of Moyes and Schumacher complimenting one another or finding much common ground. “Back to the dour games”……….In this order of points per game. Pulis, O’Neil, Rowett and Hughes. Forget Lambert, Jones and Neil who aren’t in the same league. Moyes (if) wouldn’t be interested in styles his job would be points on the board. The DoF (whoever) would only be interested in progress A DoF needs to implement an agreed blueprint. If Pulis/Moyes style is the blueprint it’s changed drastically in the last 6/8 weeks. You can’t have the board and manager head coach trying to implement their blueprint then employ that type of person.

It is very difficult to produce a good side with cheapies and freebies. Since Covid, most of the sides in the league are cash strapped, and the quality of the teams is terrible. Why do you think that Sunderland, Ipswich and to a lesser extent Plymouth can prosper after coming up. Even Rotherham keep yo yoing between Championship and League One. The sides who have come down are the only ones with money and they are very likely to occupy the top 3 positions at the end of the season. In similar fashion the clubs promoted last year: Sheffield, Burnley and Luton look most likely to be relegated at the end of the season. The good news is that we will have even more money to spend in the Summer, while the Blackburns, Prestons, Millwalls etc. still won't have any cash at all.

We’ve had pragmatism for most of my supporting life and the vast majority of it has been absolute rubbish. I’ve no attachment to RM but if he was to be removed I’d like his replacement to have a history of playing good entertaining attacking football. They support Schu better and ultimately be far more likely to choose his replacement when necessary from that completely different gene pool. David Moyes won a European trophy last season and is still about as popular with WHU fans as the clap. Many people want to enjoy the game not just the outcome.

Certainly not at our level, elite clubs might have a director of bog roll.

If the Coates family sells up, it will be for one reason only i.e. the lack of success and lack of clear direction means theres no profit and no signs of future financial upturns.
It will have absolutely zero to do with whether or not the fans are saying nasty things about them on a messageboard.
These are multi billionaire owners who have been incredibly successful in their field and football ownership isn't what it was in the 70s and 80s (or even 90s outside of the Prem). They're business decisions based on the finances.

Our "left hand' doesnt know what the 'right hand' is doing sometimes....well it seems that way to me at least. The structure seems pretty clear to me and pretty typical of the structure that the majority of clubs have moved to. Whether we have the right people in those roles is anyone’s guess but we should be able to replace any one of them without handing over complete control of the club to another individual with a whole new philosophy. Hopefully a consistency of thinking and approach will bear fruit eventually. It needs to be given time. Continually flip flopping between god managers and their various whims has failed consistently. If we can add a few players each window who we can rely on we should be able to get the number of projects on the pitch at the same time to a more manageable number. Too many trying to find their feet all at the same time.
