What frustrates me is looking at other teams who seem to have no problem integrating youngsters into the first team squad. Blackburn had Adam Wharton in their midfield on Saturday, made his debut against us in August last season at the age of 17 and has since played 32 games. Sidibe and Tezgel will be about 22 before they play that many games for us.
They had Dolan up front, 21 and played 130 games for them, young Moran who we were linked with is a already a regular and he's just turned 20, if he'd come to us he'd have started a couple of league cup games by now and that's all.
I'm not advocating bunging in players that aren't ready but when you have elite youngsters they need minutes so they can thrive...........

I am not sure we have had a manager in the last 10 years who has advocated playing young players, unless the situation has been desperate. If I was a young player looking to join an academy, I would certainly look at that aspect before signing, no matter how good the facilities etc.

Not sure what the average age of that starting XI was on Saturday but it must have gone up from the last couple of seasons? (unless Jagielka being 84 skewed the figures )

He didn't look out of place and has done more than Lauren this season.
It makes no sense that he isn't on the bench.

Beyond frustrating seeing Laurent do such a poor job and not See Sidibe given a go. Totally agree! Apart from Moran - We would've Smallbone'd him at the expense of the likes of Junho (whom maybe we wouldn't have signed, who knows...)

In the few games he's played I don't think he's put a foot wrong, good enough for a starting place next season I think. We would be crazy to sell him now,he will be worth a lot of money in a few years time, hopefully he will play in the Prem.with Stoke in the next couple of years.

Good news.
For the first time possibly this century we seem to be a club with genuine assets.

we should try offload Baker or Johnson and Pearson before we loose Sidibe, and bring him in our match day squad,,we have some good young lads now coming through

Another article I read said his contract was only for another 12 months so we were in a risky situation. As he only signed his first contract on his 17th birthday this season I can't imagine we only gave him 18 months?

I'd like to think we have something in place but aren't Tezgel and Sidibe both down to their last 12 months?

we have too many centre mids, we should be off loading at least two (one being Johnson) or even 3 with Sol being promoted to the first team squad
however he's still young, still growing, need to manage his minutes carefully, regular breaks after a run of a few games , don't flog him

Chelsea being involved potentially means good money at least. Can't see him going yet but wouldn't be surprised either if we took a good offer with a hefty sell on clause.

When Schumacher spoke about him at the end of the season it sounded like that was pretty much the plan. Assuming no incomings we'll have any two of Burger, Thompson, Laurent & Sidibe in midfield. I think the club/Schumacher would be happy to see the back of Baker, Johnson, and Pearson (probably at the end of his contract). Lots of potential opportunities for Sidibe.

I am sure Mama will have an influence on his career progression and will advise him on which direction to take. The likes of Chelsea use young players as chicken fodder. Mama is Stoke through and through and I think Mama will remember being paid by Stoke for about 12 months at the end of his career after a major injury when most other clubs would have washed their hands on him. Payback time Sol will not be going anywhere.
