Did anyone attend Hanley Town vs Stafford Rangers today? I was working. How did Stafford play? Without sounding too arsey...who caresš great win for you Stafford boys and beating Hanley town is always a bonus! I really want Stafford to stay up and push onš Ahah not arsey at all, Iāve had to watch us smash the ball up in the air and endure some awful football even at non league level over the last 2 years, so I was trying to find out if we are starting to see some better football, Iāve heard from other Rangers fans that it was a lot better, so fingers crossed this is the start of the turn around.

Went to the delayed ko game at Clitheroe v Hanley hoping for a better game than the one at Oxford i had just watched Sky.
It was 1-1 draw and generally better than game than the earlier game. Ryan Shotton stood out holding Hanley together and they had a rotund No. 9 whom would look slow in walking football and always moaning at the ref and offside at free kicks hanley pumped forward. I later checked the Hanley teamsheet to find out it was Tom Pope whom I always heard on Radio Stoke driving on the way back from games was a great player. He looked anything but an ex professional footballer.

I went to a cracking game on Saturday, finished Barnton 5-4 Runcorn Town, a bit of a local derby, Scoring was 2-0, then 2-4, 3-4 at HT and then an 89th minute winner to finish 5-4. Ā£5 to get in and Ā£6 for a pie and a can of Guinness, only 10 minutes away, watching games like this and reading the thread 'walking away from the club' and with the total shit show for most of the last 7 years it's hard to want to go down the M6 an hour each way.
Coincidentally it's the same fixture on Wednesday night again in the cup.

Hednesford Town are taking on Gateshead in the 4th qualifying round of the FA Cup. It looks a juicy tie with Gateshead doing well in the National League and Hednesford much improved in the Northern Premier West League (step 4 v step 1). Match Tickets are easy to buy online for Ā£11, but the car parking looks like itās sold out (no pay on the day parking). The ground is a near League standard venue which you enter via turnstiles from the Victoria Ground, itās a great little stadium. Itās on BBC red button too, KO 3:30.

I went to Basford Utd (Nottingham) where Martin Carruthers was/is the manager. I say that as heās currently off on indefinite compassionate leave due to a family bereavement. Very sad. Hanley went one nothing up early on through Pope then Basford came back 2-1 until Pope scored a penalty to make it 2-2 at HT. It finished 2-2 then Hanley lost on penalties.
FA trophy 3rd qualifying round - Hanley have got some really decent young lads who look like they could run around till Christmas. Seemed much better to me when Iāve seen them over the last few years. BTW Pope still has some class touches even if his fitness isnāt the greatest.

A tough start, losing all the top goalscorers in the off season may come back to haunt Leek town.
